And so I begin the journey...... again.

My official plan is to begin Jan 1st. Start the New Year right. My goal is to lose 50lbs by June. I know it doesn't sound realistic, but I want to try. June 7th will be my 4yr wedding anniversary, and I want to look good. I will try to eat healthy. Cut back on snacks (or binge eating, as my husband calls it), exercise more, and stay focused. I know I will have support from my family and friends, co-workers, and this weight-loss forum.

Start weight - 185lbs.

Hey.... can someone tell me how to get one of those ticker tape trackers?

Happy New Year to you all!

hey Jenn, welcome :)
i support any plan there is so you go girl :) as for the ticker you have instructions on Newcomers, the first topic. i created mine at and then uploaded it as signature picture.
anyway welcome to you and hope you will achieve your goal :)

Welcome to the forum! I was 185 at my heaviest. I am down to 150 now. It has been slow but sure. I know you can do it because I am!!:D

Welcome to the forum & your new journal! :D:D
June is 6 months away, that's a little less than 1lb a week - a very realistic goal!! You can do it!! Have you thought about how you're going to approach eating? Counting calories? Exercise?
Here's some great tools:
<- Free website with calorie & exercise trackers based on goals that you set and track on their site. I use this one daily.
<- very similar to spark, less bells & whistles
<- calculate the distances you've walked/run, based on a map of you area. Just put in your address.

Good Luck!!!! :D:D

Hi,
I tired that web site, and designed my ticker. But can't seem to copy the code into my signature picture. Any idea?
Thanks!

Hey Jenn, I'm a Jenn too. :) Welcome and good luck with this journey. I agree with Pequin, your goal of 50lbs is very realistic.

Also, do you mean the tickerfactory.com thingy you wanna paste into your signature, or are you trying to do something else?

Ticker thing

Hi Jenn,

I'm trying to post my "ticker tape" from the Ticker Factory. But when I copy it, it either comes up invalid URL or invalid file. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jenn

Official Day 2 - Blew Day 1

Not off to a good start for the New Year. My goal was to begin Jan 1st. It started well, until lunch. My husband made lunch that day and was not going to let me blow off his special moose burgers. Then we had to go to his parent's house for his dad's birthday supper. However, they always have angel food cake for their birthdays. So that was too bad - except of course for the chocolate icing.

So.... this morning, I've gotten off to a better start. I'm going to try a combination of things, in my weight loss journey.
1 - follow WW points plan;
2 - limit sugar;
3 - drink more water;
4 - limit alcohol;
5 - exercise more.

I lost 29lbs with WW before I got married (almost 4 yrs ago), and have tried to follow it since (without going to meetings). It's a lot harder to follow with the support meeting, but I'm hoping with the support from this forum will help. Limiting sugar may be a struggle, as I am a choco-holic. Hopefully once all the Christmas baking is out of the house, it will be easier. My husband is good with that task, as he will take the baking in his lunch. It's just while I'm making dinner, that I start to get into it. I have also stopped drinking my coffee with sugar, and I'm not a big soda drinker. I have a bad habit of not drinking enough water through the day, and well over load with water before bed. I tend to not end up drinking enough for the day. I use to drink 3 litres when I was on WW, while at work. So I hope to get into that habit again. Limiting alcohol isn't a problem, as I don't drink much anymore since my son was born. Christmas on the other hand, tends to be a heartier drinking time. This year a bought Kaluha. I love it! I tend to drink it with milk, or as a Black Russian (vodka). So over the month of December I had at least 1 drink per day. The bottle was finished Dec 31st, so I won't have to worry about it. I don't buy alcohol, and I don't regularly drink, so no problems there. Exercise more........... I hope to. I took my son skating this weekend. We lasted 10mins. He wasn't a happy camper. Still no snow in "Ski Country", so can't get out on the slopes. The warming weather though, is tempting me to go for a walk at lunch today. I was walking regularly in the summer, but haven't lately. This I will need to focus on.

Weight: 185
Breakfast: fibre first cereal w milk, coffee with milk - no sugar. (4pts)
Lunch: salad with cubes of low fat cheddar cheese and light italian dressing. (4 pts).
Supper: unknown......
I will be able to stay with the points range today, no problem. Hope to post weekly. Also posting to HOTTIE club.

I'm on my way!

Day 2 proved to be a little less rocky, but still slipped up a bit. Breakfast and lunch I behaved. Went for my walk - 45min, quick pace. Supper on the other hand wasn't quite as good. I did limit what I ate, but had a few treats after. Christmas goodies are almost gone.

Today I am down 2lbs - 183. Feeling a little pumped. Still hanging onto my cold from the holidays, but I think that not having the alcohol and cutting back on the sweets is helping me to feel better overall. Another beautiful day here, so I will be able to get out for another nice walk.:)

SW - 185
CW - 183
GW - 135
Breakfast - 1/2 c fibre first cereal w 1/2 c 2% milk, coffee w 1/2 c 2%milk - 4pts;
Lunch - lettuce with cubed light cheddar cheese and low-fat italian dressing -4 pts;
Supper - hot hamburger sandwich w gravy on bun and 32 french fries w ketchup - sounds bad but with proper portions, only totals 12 pts.
Will be able to have small, sensible snack tonight and still stay within the required range of 22-27pts.

Hey there, welcome! I'm not sure where you are in Ontario, but I'm below you in Wisconsin and we've been having great weather too! Makes getting out to do something much more pleasant, huh? Sounds like you're doing pretty well so far. Making the transition is probably the hardest part...especially when you're coming straight off of the holidays! Best wishes to you on your journey! I definitely think that you can do 50lbs by June. And even if you don't make it completely by then...the fact is that you're doing something good for yourself and that is fantastic.

Take care!

Hi There!! The great thing about all this is that your are the one in control. If you slip up - take up the slack at the next meal. It's a learning process, you're doing great!! :D:D

Day 4

Stayed within points range yesterday. Joined the water drinking challenge group today. I've already drank 96oz of water. Down another pound. Went for my walk at lunch - 30min, quick pace. Also was feeling a little hungry this mid-morning, so I had a cup of chicken broth - high on sodium, but 0 fat and 10 calories. Helps.

Breakfast: fibre first cereal (1/2c) w 1/2 2% milk, coffe w 1/2c 2% milk - 4pts
Lunch: can of tuna - 2pts
Dinner: still trying to figure that one out, but leaning toward BBQ chicken.
Water:96 oz and counting.........

Should be able to stay in points range again.

Day 5

Down again today. Feel pretty good. Except for the lung luggage.

Yesterday it was a rather strange feeling. Even though I have this cold. I felt GREAT! I had energy, I wasn't starving, I just felt so good. I have had a few dull headaches, but I think it has to do with my sinus cold. The girls at work think I have the DTs, from cutting out sugar. They have a good point.

Weighed myself this morning - 181. Down 4 lbs since starting Jan 1st. I was happy, but on the other hand I had a feeling of disappointment. My problem is I am impatient. I expect quick results. And, apparently in my head I think that 4lbs in 5 days isn't good enough. I just have to remember that the weight didn't pile on in 4 days, it can't come from in 4 days.

PATIENCE, PATIENCE, PATIENCE!

I also felt this feeling of dread that I will never get under the 180 mark. It seems to be the weight that I stay steady at. I did manage to hover around 172lbs last year. But after I got on the scales and amazingly enough I dropped 40lbs in one day, we decided we needed to get a new scale. LOL. The new scales weighed in at 179lb. What a disappointment.

Anyways, these forums are so helpful and supportive. Thank-you. I hope with the success that I am having right now, that I am down to 175 by the end of January. I know that the weight starts to level off after the first week or 2 of starting a program. But if I don't have mid-term goals to aim for, what motivation do I have.

Breakfast: fibre first cereal 1/2c w 1/2c 2% milk, coffee w 1/2c 2% milk - 4pts
Lunch: can tuna - 2pts
Supper: SPECIAL TREAT - Subway Roasted Chicken 12" on Whole Wheat w lettuce, green peppers and honey mustard - 14pts
Total points today - 20, which leaves some room for a light snack!

I will post again on Monday, and let you all know how my weekend went.

Happy Friday! Just wanted to say welcome here. I'm in WW too; I joined online. There is a WW section...it's not that active, but if you have questions or just want to talk about it, feel free to post there. There are a few of us!!

Survived my first weekend

Well, I made it through the weekend with a few minor slip ups. No major set backs. Was down to 180 on Saturday and held it steady until today. It is sooo much easier to stay on track during the work week. Only exercise this weekend was some shopping and house work. I'm hoping for a nice week to get out on my lunch hour to go for a walk. Water intake wasn't too bad. Friday I drank 192oz, Saturday 80oz, but Sunday only 48oz. We had a bit on a plumbing issue in the house over the weekend, so the water was shut off in the bathroom. Didn't want to over do the fluids.;)

Won't go into get detail on the weekend menu, points went a little over. Back on track today.

Breakfast: fibre first cereal .5c w 2% milk .5c, coffee w .5 c 2% milk - 4pts
Lunch: tuna - 2pts
Supper: moose chili and pillsbury crescent roll - 13 pts.
Total: 19pts, room leftover for dessert.

Feeling Blue - up 1 lb

Bit down in the dumps today. I was so excited to be back at work yesterday, to get on track for the week. Then I was horribly sabotaged by my boss. We had a Christmas basket leftover from the holidays, that we give out to our big clients. You know the type..... chocolates, clusters, nuts, etc. All junk! Well, Friday my boss opened it. I had a few choclate covered almonds and managed to refrain from over indulging. Well yesterday I blew it. I over indulged and today I'm paying the price. I even had a headache yesterday, that I believe was caused by the sugar overload. Avoiding sugar for a week and then eating large quantities - not good. I even was having weird dreams all night - coincidence? I think not! Now I don't want you all to think that I ate pounds and pounds of chocolate and crap. I just had more than I needed. First thing I did when I got into work this morning, packed it all up in the basket and put it away!

Added to all this? The joys of being a woman! Crampy and bloated today.

Got out for my walk yesterday - COLD! Winter is finally on it's way (at least until Friday). Don't know if I will brave the cold today. Lots of flurries. But I guess that's my punishment for gorging yesterday. It'll also help with the cramps.

Last night my husband took before pics of me. Sorry can't post these. He made a comment about distroying them once I reach my goal. I said "no way, I'll keep these as long as I have to in order to maintain my goal weight and to never get this high again!"

I promise to stay on track today.

Breakfast: same old thing - but I love it! 4pts
Lunch - tuna - 2pts
Supper - haven't decided yet. Thinking of Whole Wheat spagetti. I was even considering trying those veggie "meatballs". Apparently you can't tell the difference. I would just have to sneak it past my husband - "the meat lover". Haven't had a chance to figure out the points on it yet, but I'm sure it should be too bad.
Water - I hope to break the 112oz mark at work. My glass at home is 20oz, but that just keeps me up at night running for the bathroom.

Yes! That is what I am doing. It's amazing how much of a difference in just a couple weeks of working that fat off. You can do it. *smile*
