Jellykat's Diary

HI, if you havn't met me yet, my name is kate I am 24 and 187-190lbs. I found this site with a google search for weight loss support groups. I immediatley signed up (yesterday):) and officially started today! I live with my fiance Greg and we have let each other gain weight since we moved down here.I am committed to following my goals and hope that by using this forum I can gain the support I need.
Goals and Motivations;
1. I would like to lose 37-40lbs
2. I am splitting my time frame into months;
my first goal is 10 lbs by Oct.31st
so by the end of January I WILL be at my goal weight of 150lbs
3. I will eat more fruit and vegetables
find more recipes to make healthy meals
drink water all day between meals and snacks
walk or play with dog outside at least 3 days a week(to start)
no special trips to get chocolate or cookies:eek:
take small steps to achieve my monthly goals so as to not become
overwhelmed(take it day by day)
4. allow support and help or suggestions from Greg without defense,
and use my resources here in this forum to gain support and motivation
5. I think that by splitting my goals and taking it in smaller doses I can
achieve my overall goal effortlessly and fully!
6. I start RIGHT NOW!! :D
so good luck to me, I know I'll have days, weeks, hours, minutes, where I will want to say screw it I'll stay fat! but don't let me!!
thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my goals, hope to get to know each one of you.

Oh yeah! and I will work on not talking down about myself constantly, I will make it a goal each day to think of 3 things that are positive about myself..

You've got some great plans and a good mindset for following them. I hope we'll all be able to help you reach your goals!

Thanks guys! I plan on using all my resources here, and that means you!!:p
I appreciate the support already, its very encouraging to know that I can just remember my new friends on here when I'm reaching for that snack or foraging when I'm not hungry.

oh yeah and T2...nice quote, you gotta love Billy Joel...;)

Day 2

went pretty well, I made whole wheat and oatmeal pancakes for breakfast. had cheese quesadilla with salsa for lunch. and Talapia, couscous, and steamed veggies for dinner. I did have a couple cookies:( I need to start my walks! The weather is getting much more manageable for me now,(alabama in the summer, not the ideal take a walk in the afternoon 100* weather) but I guess I'm just making excuses now. I should have my car soon so I can start going back to the gym too. Tomorrow is our 1 year anniversary(our first date)!:D so hopefully we wont get dessert at dinner! I will make good food choices at dinner too... okay well goodnite world!;)

Sounds great Jelly =) And I KNOW what you mean about the heat. I"m in central Florida and whooowee...the heat is killer! I just returned to "outside" walking myself. Its pretty tolerable in the AM now.

Enjoy your dinner!

hiya Kate!
I admire your approach on things...sounds like we're right around the same height/weight right now! My long-term goal is about 135lbs, only b/c I want to be in the middle of the "average" weight for my height.

I'm glad to meet you on here!

x

Happy anniversary! I hope your night is wonderful. :) And don't stress over the cookies too much, you still need a treat within reason every now and again!

Day 3

Thanks guys!:D
well I was up at 5am had to take Greg to the shop and didnt get home until 7, fell asleep again until almost 10! I didnt feel so bad because its sunday... didnt do very well paying attention to what I ate today, but tomorrow is a new day. I had a very relaxing anniversary. It was nice. :)
We started a tradition of making barbecue chicken pizza on our anniversary(what we ate on our first date). It was last minute so I couldn't make a whole wheat crust, I cooked some chicken in a little olive oil with some spices until golden brown, spread a barbecue sauce mix on the crust with some goat cheese and mozzarella. Then I put the chicken with a few more spices.... It was delicious! I only had 2 pieces, which Greg had no problem with, he just ate the rest.
Tomorrow is Monday, a new week. I can start it right. No scratch that.. I WILL start it right.:D
nite world

Sounds like a lovely anniversary.

Oh yeah! and I will work on not talking down about myself constantly, I will make it a goal each day to think of 3 things that are positive about myself..

That's one of my problems, I'd never talk to anyone the way I talk to myself sometimes. I think I may adopt the 3 positive things goal too.

Your doing fine! And if you can't say something positive about yourself...let me say something positive to you!

You are a great person and you WILL accomplish your goals. You are strong and beautiful!

That's one of my problems, I'd never talk to anyone the way I talk to myself sometimes.

I completely agree, if we took a second to really listen to the way we talk to ourselves and thought about how we would feel if someone else said those things to us, we would be heartbroken! thanks for the positive comments everyone it really does help:) stick around I like you guys!!:p

I think I may even start writing down 3 things a day that I like about myself so I can keep track and look back at the positive thoughts when I start thinking about the negetive ones:D

it was!:D but in the future I would have a whole wheat recipe on hand to make the crust out of instead of the store bought crust. oh well, I did well on portions so I cant complain there.:p

Day 6.. I think

yesterday I did pretty well, I'm feeling better altogether. I don't go to bed on a full stomach so I wake up feeling good like I got a complete nite of sleep:D which is good because I have insomnia. I'm lacking in the water department though so i better get my butt back i gear on that front. I still havn't gotten into the habit of eating more fruits and vegetables.

Eating more fruits and veggies also helps you in the water department, since many of them (say cucumbers and watermelon) are high in water. They might not count towards the challenge, but they will help rehydrate you! So drink that water and eat that plant material! :)

One week down [ ] to go....

YAY ME! 4lbs lost week one down!:D :D :D
I am so pumped, great motivation, now I need to focus more on what I eat not how much. more veggies more fruit. I only have 6lbs to go to meet my october goal. :D
I do find myself grazing through the cupboards less, which is good. I still find it hard to stay away from the food when I get upset. Hi my name is kate and I'm an emotional eater...
my next step is to start going to the gym again... just a week or two untilwe're in our new house, so I can sign up at the gym there:)
I'm pretty bummed though I dont have many people who comment on my diary:(
well gotta go run some errands and keep those pounds down!
