Jamie's Healthy BMI Countdown

Update on Evening of Thursday 3/7

Last night I had a hair appointment at 5:30, so I had to leave work and go directly there. I never got home from that appointment until 7:30, but since I had planned what to eat for dinner yesterday afternoon, I managed to have a very healthy dinner from my in-law's restaurant even though I had to wait several hours longer than I usually do to eat.

Here's what I had:

Grilled Chicken Salad (iceberg lettuce, carrots, cabbage, 5 oz seasoned grilled chicken, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1 packet fat free italian dressing)
Diet Pepsi

When I got home, I put my food for the day into Fitday and came up like 250-300 calories short for the day, so I knew I needed to eat more. My first instinct said "Girl Scout Cookies!," but then I remembered the night I had Wednesday and decided that was a bad idea.

Here's what I had instead:

1 cup Raisin Nut Bran
0.5 cup skim milk
16.9 oz bottled water

I mentioned above that I did not get home until 7:30, so I did not exercise last night. In fact, I ate dinner, watched the last 1/2 hour of Survivor with Eric and then went to bed. (Hooray - no more Joel!!!)

On a side note - my hair turned out really pretty. It's a very pretty warm reddish-brown color with subtle caramel highlights...goes very nicely with my olive skin tone. I'll take pictures this weekend and post next week.

That's it for Thursday! Yay for a good day!

Friday 3/7 Diary Entry

Good morning!!! TGIF!

I am back to peppy, happy me! Yay!

I guess I am happy this morning mostly because Wednesday is now a full day behind me, and I was able to hop back on the wagon 100% and not let it drag me down.

I am also happy and excited because tomorrow we're going to a wedding, and I love weddings! They're such wonderful occasions! Plus, a little (and I mean a little) drinking, dancing, and being around people completely and totally in love is much needed after all the fighting Eric and I went through this week.

I promise to take pictures and post them next week so everyone can finally see what I (and my new, pretty hair) look(s) like and more importantly, the progress I've already made.

After work tonight, I most definitely have to do Week 2, Day 1 of C25K. I know I won't exercise tomorrow since we're going to the wedding, and I haven't done anything the past two nights in a row...so I really need to get it together and work out tonight. I will try to dance off as many calories as possible tomorrow night...but it's not technically a workout.

Since Eric and I are now definitely going to FL to visit my sister, I have to do what most women fear more than anything else: buy a swimsuit! :willy_nilly: I have one in mind from Victoria's Secret, but I have to wait a few days to build the courage to actually order it, and then I'm sure it will take a week or two to build the courage to try it on. Ughh...I hate swimsuits!

Well, that's about it for me....back to work as always!

the scale is just a number - don't beat your head against a wall...

the light at home will be better than the light in a dressing room - so you'll look fine :)

You're right - it is just a number. I still look great and feel great...so screw you scale!

I agree with you that the light at home is MUCH better than the light in a dressing room. I tried to attach a pic of the swimsuit I'm thinking I'll get in the color that will look best (remember: olive skinned, reddish-brown hair). I don't know if I did it right or not...

I just realized I never answered these!!

1. Answer these questions before starting your diary.

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
I am currently at 166 lbs, I would like to reach a healthy BMI for my height of 5'6", so my goal weight is 150 lbs. My bigger, more important goal is the maintenance of that weight once I reach it.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
I would like to be at my target weight by June 1, 2008. 16 lbs to go - 12 weeks to go - seems like a healthy, and do-able goal for me. I would like to maintain that target weight indefinitely.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
I want to accomplish my goal by eating all foods in moderation and counting calories. No foods are off limits. I also want to boost my losses with exercise. I would like to exercise a minimum of four days per week.

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
My husband and co-workers (the people I spend the most amount of time with) are very supportive. I own a treadmill which comes in handy for workouts. And I have Fitday software which I use to track my calories.

-- How realistic is your goal?
I feel it is very realistic.

-- When will you start?
I started January 7, 2008

"For a lifestyle change you don't need to be strong -because it's effortless.. you just do it - and it starts today -not tomorrow.. tomorrow is too easy excuse"

Mal, if you're reading this, I LOVE THAT response....in fact I felt it worthy of posting in my own diary for reference. Thank you!

Update on Evening of Friday 3/7

Friday night I exercised as soon as I got home. I finally completed Week 2, Day 1 of C25K. It went okay. I must admit, I feel a little disappointed with myself because it was pretty hard for me to get through, but you know what, I got through it - and that's what matters. I didn't give up! I just felt like I needed more recovery time between jogging stints. Since nothing is ever easy the first time you do it, I will wait until I complete Week 2, Day 2 to decide if I need to add more recovery time between jogs or not. For all I know, Week 2, Day 2 might feel easier to me.

Friday night dinner went according to plan as well. Here's what I had:

2 pieces of baked, breaded, boneless, skinless chicken breast
1 cup of julienne potatoes
1 cup of steamed broccoli

I spent the rest of the night Friday night getting things ready for the wedding on Saturday, and then I hit the sack pretty early since we had to get up and on the road the next morning.

That's pretty much it for my Friday night.

Not giving up is an awesome thing :) well done...

With that program - there's no reason why you can't repeat days... you don't always have to move on to the next day.. while challenging yourself is good... challenging to the point it gets frustrating - isn't... So do pay attention to how you're feeling..

That bathing suit s super sexy while still classy! I give it 2 thumbs up! :D

Hope you had a great time at the wedding!

:)

Saturday 3/8 Diary Entry

Saturday started with Eric and I getting up fairly early and getting on the road for my cousin Tommy's wedding. Morning weight: 166.6.

While getting ready Saturday morning, I made a really stupid mistake. I had a brand new dress to wear, but had ordered it from a catalog so it was all wrinkled from being shipped. I had let it hang in my bathroom for three or so weeks hoping the steam would get some of the wrinkles out. That didn't work, so I needed to do something else with it. I decided I'd put it in the dryer with a damp washcloth and a dryer sheet. I've done this before with stuff that is "dry clean only" and it's worked really well. The dress was polyester, so I put it in on the lowest setting and waited. When I got it out of the dryer after 5-10 minutes, it had dark streaks all over it. It wasn't wet marks...I checked. It was either water stained or melted...I wasn't 100% sure. Either way, I was running out of time and panic set in, so I had to raid my closets for something that fit. Thank goodness I found a dress that fit or I would have been in trouble. Most of my clothes (other than the jeans and t-shirts I wear every day) are WAY too big now. Even my skirts and blouses just hung off of me...so I pretty much had no option regarding what I could wear.

Even with all the dress excitement, I still had time to have a healthy breakfast at the house before we got on the road:

1 cup Raisin Nut Bran
1/2 cup skim milk
16 oz glass diet iced tea.

We had about a three hour one-way drive to get there and ending up leading the way for the convoy of my parents, my sister and nephew, and my aunt. Thankfully, I thought ahead, and we had no snacks or anything in the car on the way there, so that eliminated any boredom munching. I just had a bottle of my trusted Diet Mt. Dew on the way.

We got to where we were going, found the church, and had about two hours to kill, so we decided to go get some lunch. We were in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, so my family (Mom, Dad, etc.) wanted to eat at an Amish smorgasbord. Thankfully, I could order off a menu, so here's what I had:

Grilled chicken wrap with honey mustard, lettuce & tomato
Curly fries (maybe a small FF order in size)
Diet Soda

As soon as we were done eating, we had to get back to the church for the wedding. It was beautiful and brought back a lot of memories of Eric and I's wedding almost three years ago. I loved every moment...and cried through most of it! I love weddings!

After the wedding, we immediately headed for the reception. Unfortunately, the sitting and waiting for the bride and groom to get there got the best of me, and I hit the snack table. I don't remember the exact quantities, but I had some cheese (less than 10 small cubes) with mustard, 3 or 4 pepperoni slices, some olives, and a carrot stick or two. Not too terribly bad. There was even chocolate on the table, and I didn't touch it. As far as drinks while waiting, they only had iced tea and lemonade, both made with sugar. I didn't think to bring anything with me, so I had three small glasses (maybe 8-10 oz) of iced tea while waiting.

When dinner rolled around, I wasn't too terribly hungry, so I did not fear the buffet table. Good thing I wasn't too hungry because ALL of the food on the buffet was burnt. I felt SO bad for my cousin. He paid a caterer and everything he got for his money was burnt. And I do mean all of it...even the corn was burnt. I ended up eating two tiny slices of ham, some burnt potatoes (maybe 6-7 medium-sized wedges) and a rye dinner roll. The rest was hardly edible.

After dinner the dancing started...and so did the drinking. I had 3-4 Seagram's Bahama Mama's (my only option - not a beer girl). And, when they cut the cake, I had a thin slice of wedding cake.

I did manage to dance off some calories with my cousins and Eric. All in all, we had a really great time.

That's about it for Saturday...

Here's the pictures I've been promising.

Here is a "BEFORE" from November 2007:

Here is a current progress pic from the wedding on Saturday:

I hope I did this right - probably not...

I did it - although you only need to click on one link and it will take you right to both pictures.

I can see a big difference - let's see if anyone else can.

you're so pretty :) Love your hair in the second pic :)

Wait were you in the first picture -I saw something in green but I got totally distracted by a uniform :)

Yeah, it's a fetish of mine - you are a lucky lady :)

This is the closest full-body comparison I can come up with:

The two other people in the first picture are my bosses where I work. They're friends of ours who have gone to our past three Marine's balls with us.

there is a difference :)

It's harder for me to see it in your face because the pulled back hair is slimming... but you can absolutely see it in your body.. :)

Well done, missy :)

And marines are very distracting :)

Thank you so much! I prefer Eric with a little facial hair...so the non-uniform picture is my preference...but they're both good!

Aww...thanks!

I should send you the link to my entire Marine's ball album and you can ogle LOTS of Marines!

Absolutely stunning, Jamie. You are such a gorgeous girl and the 2 of you make a very cute couple. BTW, I like the facial hair on him too. Looks more manly and less like a kid. ;)

I love that green dress you are wearing at the USMC Ball last November.
And you definitely are making some progress girl! We are going to both be doing the skinnier dance this year.

I'm kinda wondering how you are doing in the um, boobage department. I've gone down a cup size and chest size since January which is a good thing --because I was starting to spill outta my bras. Ok I'm going to :leaving:. hehe.
