James' Diary *ANY TIP WELCOMED!!!!*

You may not see any weight loss right off the bat since you are upping your calories back into a normal range after having been low for a bit. i doubt you were in the so called "starvation mode" prior, but still might have down regulated your metabolism. but rest assured you are going to feel a heck of a lot better and be in much better overall health if you stick to about 2000 a day and let your body adjust to healthy and proper eating.

For now, you dont have to worry quite too much about how clean you eat. as long as your energy balance is in your favor (more calories used than eaten) on an average daily basis, you will lose weight. what is important to start is making sure you feel ready to commit to being healthy for a lifetime. I know that at your age a lifetime seems practically unfathomable, heck at 23 I cant hardly picture it myself. But what is important is finding the right reasons for making a change, and truly convincing yourself that making that change is what you want permanently. You seem to be doing very well motivating yourself to stick to it, but careful not to go overboard too quick. As some others around here like to say, think about what you can do, instead of what you cant; about what you can eat rather than what you cant. focus on positive things and it is much easier. focus on the negatives, and it just makes it seem like you are depriving yourself all the time. Remember, this is all a game about choices. While there is no right or wrong choice, each one does have an affect on whether or not you become the person you want to be. Eat that burger, fries and milkshake and satisfy your craving/lust right now, or bypass that meal and feel proud that you are getting healthier for a lifetime. All in the choices james, keep that in mind.

while i am thinking about it, please do not let those nose bleeds go untended. Tell your parents/guardians about it, and get an appointment with your doctor. It may seem minor, but bleeding is never a good thing, and if you are bleeding while exercising, there could be some very severe consequences. Also, if it is a frequent thing it could be an indicator of a much more serious health issue. remember, we do this to be healthy, so take care of the issue.

to help you with chosing good foods, i will try and set up some guidelines. First off, if its a fruit or vegetable in its raw/fresh form, youre pretty much good to go for sure. thats an easy one. Second, if it is a white meat, you are most likely safe. If it has the skin on it, not such a good choice. Breads and such should have as little processing as possible, in other words go for whole grains. Certain foods have lower fat alternatives, and those are smart options (like skim milk instead of whole). be wary of foods that are specifically catered to weight loss, they arent always great options for various reasons. Pay close attention to what you drink. If it isnt just straight water, there is a good chance it has calories or something else in it that you might not want. oh, and if you have meats but dont have a scale to measure how much meat you are eating, you can use this little trick: a 3oz piece of meat is roughly the same size as a standard deck of cards. eyeball it as best you can (keep a deck of cards in the kitchen if you need to, lol) and err on the side of overestimating to be safe.

keep it up, and stay focused. never forget why you want to do this and the benefits it will have, and you can succeed.

So I decided to check every Friday, it would get me more motivated seeing every week i've lost something instead of seeing it bounce up and down. Yesterday it was 259 today it's 257. Yeah, I do notice my clothes getting bigger, today while I was running on the tredmill, my pants were sliding down, i was like o.o.. Eh, a weigh yourself everyday club? Hmmmm.. I'll think about it >.<. Yeah,thanks about my relationship! I think it's great and we don't go to the same school either, cept we talk all the time and stuff =D, and WHOOOOHOOOO about your relationship! 3 years? That is awesome! You type a lot? Yes, you are right..I feel a lot of energy CONSTANTLY when I boosted to 2,000, sometimes I feel so much I just do random things in my house cuz' I'm so damn hyper xD. Eh, at the way I'm eating, it doesn't seem bad at all, working out everyday like this? Not in favor so much...
Yeah, I reallly neeed to check out my nose, I don't want it to be a problem later in life, that would be horrible, I don't smoke or anything, or hang out with smokers, don't know why it's bad.

Hey you're a super handsome guy and getting on the right track. I'm so glad Coach helped you with the calories. I was gonna say something but I can't explain it as well. I'm eating 20% less than my maintenance calories which I calculate by multiplying 15 calories (or 14) x my weight in pounds.

For you that would look like 15 x 250 (?) = 3750 calories to maintain a body your size

- 20% = 750 calories off, so you could eat 3000 calories and lose. It might take longer but it is the way to go for long term adherence because you get to eat as much as possible and still lose weight.

The numbers seem high but the problem is we have no clue how much we were eating before.

This is still a reducing diet.

You are doing so well and enthusiastic, I dare say a touch euphoric.

Please take Coaches advice and eat more healthy food.

Day Nine, omg 4 starting tommorow till week two!


Weight: 257 YAY!!!!! :D!!

Food:
Morning: Quakers Oatmeal brown sugar (2 packets) 2 Slices turkey Breast, 2 Apples
Afternoon: Cereal (2 cornflakes, 2 cups soymilk), Grape Fruit, 2 apples, 1 fried egg no oil or anything.
Evening: 1 Slice whole wheat bread, 3 slices turkey breast, 1 slice cheese, yogurt 99% fat free, apple.


Exercise:
Morning: 30 mins power walk, 5 mins sit ups, 5 mins running, 5 mins stationary bike.
Afternoon: 45 mins in-line skating
Evening: 45 mins in-line skating

Total cals: About 2,000

WOW!! I could eat 3,000 cals and STILL lose weight? haha, no thanks though..2,000 cals already makes me oh so full, and I scavage the kitchen just so I could find foods that'll fill up that 2,000 cal mark.
What was I eating before? over 4,000 cals I'll tell yeah that..hell sometimes could be 10,000 who knows.

So my day, not much new, I got sprayed with those damn sprinklers again today while roller blading, but noone saw..so..hehe *evil laugh* plan is good...:doh: squirrel saw me..

My brother worked out with me today in the morning, how nice of him.

You know what sucked?!?! It rained today, but that won't stop me..I skated in it, gotta burn those cals and I love skating.
Ooo and I forgot my keys today after I was finished skating, so I had to climb into my window to get into the house..noone was home to open the door for me..>.<.

My cousin came over today, she noticed my face got skinnier...hope she wasn't lieing to make me feel better! >.< :D

Its glad to see another young fellow and another person commited to weight loss. Stay steady with your goals, and remember it won't occur over night.

You probably have some awesome motivation because of your girl right now. They can do that to you :). Keep that motivation going and you will be losing the weight in no time.

And as coach said, keep us updated with that nose bleed. That could be something very serious.

Moving soon Hey guys, I'm going to move back to philly soon. Probally gonna be there this tuesday comming up or the sunday after this one. While living there, I won't have an APT to stay with my dad, cuz he'll be living in a car. and mom+brothers are gonna still be in MN, it's a complicated thing. but I'll be over my friends house Daniel, (friends since like..birth?) good thing is, he is going thru weight training, and I can use his equipment, and he can give tips on muscel build up.
Bad thing is, he sometimes has cravings and eats everything in the house!:mad: dougnuts, hunny buns, you name it. I'll just have to resist.
SO I won't be posting for like 2 days when I'm going, but i'll be writing it down to post it later! Love yah all! :rotflmao:

the nose bleed picture was...disgusting. But I hope there's something you can do to fix that up.

I can't believe you have lost 14 pounds in such a short period of time! And except for at the very beginning (before coach came into the picture) you've been doing it pretty healthily! Congrats and good luck in Philly!

Exercise:

Hey guys! Guess whut, I finally went shopping today with my parents, and because of me, I haven't seen so much healthy foods in our carts ever. Peaches, Apples, Lettuce, Carrots, Chicken Breast w/o skin, Salad dressing, tuna with water, V8 veggie juice, corn flakes, bran flakes, corn, whole wheat bread. Whoot.

I was getting worried because we ran out of lettuce some days ago, and we ran out of apples today, and carrots weeks ago. I thought I was gonna die, I am happie now =D :jump: :rotflmao:
 
That is truly an awesome thing, I am glad you parents are so cooperative :)

We have recently made changes, buying only whole grain breads, and lately 1% milk (I only drink skim milk now, but my family insists on my the 1%, meh)

I wish I could go shopping for all those goodies. Unfortantely, money ain't right now. However, I think I am going to go to sam's club and buy a 6 lb bag of whey protein, for $25...that should last me for 6 months :D

Morning: 30 mins in-line skating
Afternoon: 30 mins power walk, 10 mins leg weight lifting, 10 mins sit ups
Evening: 30 mins in-line skating

Total cals: About 2,100


Hey guys, I donno if i'm slacking in my work outs or not. but yeah, nothing much happened this day, just same eating, working out, girlfriend, and xbox live. Is there time for anything else? xD.

You know, the eating is not getting to me at all, I'm not craving anything right now at all, but working out is just a litttttle bit getting to me. As you can see, I always did 45 mins of in-line skating, today it's 30 mins each. I mean it's still about 2 hrs of work out today, think I'm okay guys? :drooling:

Yes, my parents have been trying to make me lose weight since forever, now they see that I'm losing weight finally, they don't want to just stand there and let me gain lbs back. Glad to see you guys are making changes too!!! My mom buys plenty of whole wheat bread for me, but she buys nothing but 2% milk, until I complained and told her to buy skim milk for me, but I wasn't drinking 2% anyway, was drinking HER soymilk.

Money isn't here right now either, I just got really lucky today, and I'm sad to her that you can't buy all those things, on this change you gotta eat a certain amount of calories, so you can't starve yourself MAKING your parents buy healthy foods xD. Hope you gott that joke >.< :doh:

WoW I haven't posted in here ina while, and I'm gonna say I haven't been too true to my diet lately, last time I posted I was 249 LBS...and luckily..I'm still 249.
But, I gotta understand that I can't stay lucky forever lol.
So I joined a Judo Club [Form of Martial Arts]last week to keep me from blowing up and so I can keep going and slimming down.

So let me overview this..

Life Change Started: About June 14th
Weight on June 14th: About 275 [I weighed about 260 When I started posting here]

Date Today: October 10th
Weight Now: 249


So lets see.. So about 4 months have passed since then.. and lost about 26 lbs.. so I'm behind schedule xD


Some odd reason I can fit my Large Shirts now..I'm pretty surprised lol..:eek2:

Time to get serious again..I know I can get to like 220 by X-mas :D
