For those of you who didn't see my introductory message: Hey, everyone. My name is Zack... I'm a nineteen year old college student in Maine.

I've been an athlete my whole life, football, basketball and rugby, (All-Conference in Football, All-State in Basketball and All-New England in Rugby, I may add.)

But then I got sidelined with a heart condition that made me stop playing everything I loved. I went from 6 foot 8, 225 pounds (as an athlete) to the last time I checked, same height, but 350+ in just over two years, due to the fact that I kept eating like I could burn it off.

Recently, I found out that my girlfriend, from my athletic days, had been cheating on me.

I'm ready to change and could use the moral support from people who have gone through the same! I'll be here if you guys need me and I hope you guys will be around when I need you!

Had to go to breakfast today for my fraternity rushing... I had some fruit and a glass of juice from a machine I'm convinced it was just capri-sun that they put in it. Gotta love college...

I'll keep posting, etc. as the day goes on... Anyone know of some really good metabolism boosting foods? And could anyone give me some good tips starting off this new diet?

So for some reason, I thought that some egg salad sandwiches for lunch would be a good idea, but it turns out that the two I had are a totally of 900 calories.

And I had some yogurt.

Breakfast:
- Bowl of Fruit: 150 calories.
- 2 glasses of juice: 100 calories.
Lunch:
- 2 Egg Salad Sandwich: 900 calories.
- Yogurt: 100.
- Fuze Drink: 10 Calories.

So far: 1260 calories.

If my calculations are off, let me know and I'll adjust it. I don't want to cheat myself out of my 2000 daily... Thanks.

What I've found helpful is looking at what I eat on an average day (pre-dieting) and working out at what times of the day I was eating most. I'm NOT a morning person at all so I rarely have breakfast and then have a tiny lunch which means I do all, if not most of my eating, late afternoon and on into the evening.

So if you look at what you eat and realise that you're more likely to go off the rails in the evening then make sure you have a bigger lunch (something I'm trying to do!) and have lots of healthy snack things (fruit, veg, low-fat dips, etc) available for when the hunger kicks in!

It's also a good idea to set out goals and aims for each week, two weeks, or monthly (whatever you want really!) instead of looking at the bigger picture. Also taking measurements of your body can be useful. I starting working out a ton in the last 2 weeks and lost next to no weight, but took my measurements and I'd been loosing inches, if not the weight!

Look at how much you want to lose over what period of time and use that to work out a healthy weekly goal (usually aim for 1-2 pounds a week although it tends to come off quicker than that to begin with!)

And lastly, read other peoples diaries. I know when I'm not wanting to go to the gym, or I want a pizza, I just come on here and read diaries to get support. We're all in this together but ultimately this is something you're doing for yourself :)

Also, before and after pictures can be a good way of seeing how well you're doing. Sometimes just looking in the mirror means you can't notice the differences in your body!

God, I rambled. Very sorry!

If you need any support or anything then I'm a fellow student so I'll help out as best I can! My diary is called Put that down, fatty! :p

Have a good day dude x

Thank you, Sunflower. Next time I get to the gym (too busy right now with school and the fraternity... Really, I'm not just saying that, I actually enjoy working out.) I'll get my exact weight and set goals from there. For sure.
