i've lost the weight i wanted, now i want to gain muscle how should i proceed

i started exercising about 3 months ago and in that time i've lost about 20lbs....i went from 185/190lbs to 164lbs.....i'm 5'7" btw....i'm trying to loose another 5-10lbs but i also want to gain some muscle and get rid of the fat....how should i proceed?

most of my workout right now is cardio for about 45 - 60 mins......

Not at all. If you're worried about being too worn out, just do cardio and weight training during different parts of the day or on different days.

right, alternating days of cardio and lifting is a great idea. start hitting the weights. resistance training strengthens muscles and burns calories.

begin with basic movments. learn the exercise and how to perform them properly before doing many sets and/or adding more weight.

keep your lifting routine real simple, like abear said. have a personal trainer or powerlifter watch you and teach you how to do these. if you have to pay them do it, but make sure you do these the right way, even if it takes you a few days to learn these. these will build a foundation or lifting knowledge and some MIGHTY strenght for you to work off of.

bench press
deadlift
military press

do these on your lifting days. look at it as a practice and not a workout, your technique will come and then so will the poundage.

good luck
