IUD birth control screwed me over. so here i am.

i can't help but be a little bit insulted that you think a size 3 is fat, especially if you've read the weight issues that other people are dealing with. Anyways, I hope you can gain your confidence back...whether it is through dieting or any another means.

I dont think a size 3 is fat.

i actually have friends who are size 5 and 6, and I feel they look a lot better than me.

I used to be a size 0/00. And very toned, the iud makes me be constantly bloated. So it's not even the size that bothers me, per say, its the flabbyness of it.

My stomach doesnt get tight, no matter how much I work out because its just water being retained, how do i convert that into muscle? I cant.

I'm sorry if that offended you, it wasnt at all my intention.

what i was trying to say is that I'm 4 sizes up than what I am used to, and i cant even tone myself, or i would, and just deal with the weight gain.

I wasnt able to take it out before, it was drama with my OB, so I called planned parenthood and made an appt for next wed, only 85$, while my dr was charging 400$ for the removal!

NO MORE THAN A YEAR AND 2 MONTHS AGO

NOW

MAYBE you guys dont see a huge difference bc its just a face picture, but ill upload some more later of my body now...

i dont even look like the same person ..

even my face is always puffy :/

and the only reason i have the pictures of my body is so you could see the diff from a year ago to now when i find recent body pictures

regardless of it all ur still drop dead gorgeous. can i be behind u on this one? like literally? haha. i dont post at all but i had to this time. be patient and focused and if you want it bad enough you will get it

Sorry which girl are you in the first picture?? They look like sister's, and if you were a 0 to 00 than you're the girl on the right? And now you're the size 3 at the bottom?

What is an IUD please? Inserted Uterus Drug? IDK Thanks!

Well, all I have to say is. You look beautiful. What most of us would enjoy being. AND, I know a few things about being bloated and flabbiness, hun. Try being 18, and having large quantities of loose skin just drooping off your body. If youre a size 00,0, or a 3, just be happy you look normal. ;)

( if weightloss seems to be an issue for you, best of luck, your journey wont be a long one. but it will still be rewarding.)

thanks :)

idk why people are getting insulted...i mean, i thought this site was for people with a goal .. and to each their own...

i went from weighing barely 115 lbs to 150 .im pretty sure i can relate to someone who went from 160 up to 200, the numbers are bigger, but the emotional impact is the same.

you went from being happy with how you look, and having an outstanding confidence level, to feeling uphappy with yourself.

whether i wanna be a size 0, or a size 10, is'nt the point.

i just miss wanting to go out. and wanting to dress up. and feeling happy in my own skin.

i cant remember the last time I really wanted to get up and get ready for a night out, I dont like how anything fits me, i dont feel pretty i anything.

and i for one, think thats a HUGE problem.

lol yea Im the girl on the right...

i was a size 00 there... in all of those actually...

up until the very last one that isnt shown, theres a link to it. that is a more recent picture of me...

an iud is an intra-uterine device..

its a method of birth control, who apparently can make a woman gain LOADS of weight, or drop tons of it ...

I think you look absolutely beautiful the way you are now. But i also understand your frustration from being a size 00 and going to a size 3. Nobody wants to feel uncomfortable with the way they look. I wish you the best of luck and hope your get back down to the size you want to be.

I totally get it Leydam.
I was on the pill and I gained 40 pounds just like you. We're about the same size actually. The week after I stopped taking the pill I lost 3 inches off my waist and i lost my moon face. and my boobs got smaller. Thank god. My boobs got HUGE on the pill.

To those of you ladies that think hormones from bc are an excuse, you are wrong.

And I just started the pill and am finally losing weight after 2 years of losing NOTHING, including 1 of those years being on the IUD with fake progesterone (called progestin). I just started reading a book about hormones (with the focus being on natural bio-identical hormones) and the first part just went into detail about how each woman's hormone profile and needs are different. Some women thrive on lots of estrogen and some do horribly, same with progesterone etc. It depends on what your body's natural body chemistry is. I just started teh book so will learn more.. Apparently women who are short, curvy big breasted usually naturally create more estrogen (hence why the bones closed early and you became short) and tall smaller breasted women are more naturally built with less estrogen. Since progesterone opposes estrogen, it can make it decrease too much I believe. Adding the chemicalized hormones to the mix, and you dont know what result will come. Hence why I'm now figuring out why all of us have had different reactions and results with our hormone birth control.

I'm a TERRIBLE canditate for fake estrogens. I'm 5' tall and i sport a 32 C cup when I'm thin.

More estrogen makes me fat and crazy, hahah.

i agree 100% , i think some women will gain weight on certain birth control, while at the same time will lose weight on other methods..all depends on your body chemistry...

the paraguard is a copper iud, which doesnt release a hormone, per say, but when you do research, you learn that copper acts as estrogen in the body, so it might as well be releasing estrogen into my bloodstream, since copper particles are being released.

i cant wait to get it out.

planned parenthood is taking FOREVER to call me back, i realllyyyy cant wait anymore :/

i want to feel good again !!!

I'm sorry you gained weight from the IUD. You can easily get back to a lower weight and feel good about yourself again. The only thing I disagree with is having sex at 16 years old. I'm 100% certain I am going to be flamed for saying that but I am just being honest. You might regret it someday. I'm not condemning you. I'm just sharing my honest opinion. Good luck with your weight loss. You look just fine to the rest of us. Hopefully you will eventually like what you see in the mirror again.

Best Regards,

Derrick

Sorry to keep rambling on in your thread here leydam,

I grow more curious about the affects that my BC have had on me in the last 4 years now every time your thread pops up and ppl reply.

I am now at the weight I once was when I first started to gain. Which is great! But I only have a few pounds left and it's not about to get me back to the shape I once was. Like right now I am NOT the shape I was just 4-5 :) years ago. I know I can do that with weight & resistance training. Yadda yadda lol :p, but it erks me to think that maybe the BC may have had something to do with changing my shape. :( IDK I am tall, 6', I've had Acne since I was 8 (16-17 years) of it (I am almost 25 :))so that's a whole lot of Progesterone. I never had any boobs, till wait gain or better yet 6 months after starting BC. Yet the Estrogen from the BC sure didn't balance it out..haha booo :(

I am curious about the book Blancita mentioned.

Planned Parenthood, they've most likely got a very long waiting list, just keep calling them back every week or so. :) Don't let them forget about you, the type of ppl that come and go through there are plentiful. Just stick to your guns girl! ;)

maybe some people do regret it, but i don't, i felt ready, and 3 years later, i know i was .

but thanks, hopefully the weight wont take too much time to come off

actually, i had mine removed once for a week because it had fallen out of place and when i had it put back in it was as easy as it was the first time.

what I had another doctor tell me is that the IUD, paraguard or mirena, makes your body believe it is pregnant.

This is why it retains water weight and stores fat, making it nearly impossible to lose any weight at all.

i look like a different person.

Im so sick of it. My appt was made for 2 weeks from now. and thats fine. just knowing Im definitely having it removed makes me feel better.

You aren't really suppose to get an IUD if you've never had a baby or aren't over the age of 25 (in the US at least). Your uterus is probably (or was now) too small for the IUD and such is why it fell (or really was squeezed) out of place. Its probably been said so sorry if I'm repeating some stuff thats already been said..

If you really think the IUD is the cause of your weight gain I would get off of it and start a new method of bc. There are great options out there like nuvaRing (which is a ring you insert vaginally that lets off hormones). You only have to remember to replace it once a month instead of taking a pill every day. The depo shot might also work.. only be careful because when they say "irregular bleeding" they don't mean you might skip a period.. but you could also go the other way in extreme and get it for a couple of months like I did. NO FUN! they have spermicide foam out, condoms.. lots of stuff.

They have done studies, btw, to prove that birth control doesn't cause weightgain.. here is some info on that:
