It seems I'm finally serious. Not only about weight loss, but about my overall health. I joined this forum about a month ago because I needed help getting motivated. My diet started by me eating healthy for a whole 3 days, and hiking at my local park with my dog. Enter Halloween, and apparently a mental last ditch effort to sabotage myself. I actually managed to gain 2 pounds by hoarding bags of candy in my lunchbox, and eating them while on the job. I finally just threw all FOUR bags of candy out of my lunchbox. Then I woke up.

I figure I'll attempt a journal to see if it helps me along the way. So far this month, I have cut out most of the unhealthy foods I was eating, but otherwise have not made any changes to the actual food I'm eating. My big success has been in portion control. No more seconds at dinner time, plus only having small dessert occasionally instead of every night has helped me to lose 6 pounds (well, counting those extra 2 pounds, actually 8). I'm so excited! I am officially under the 200 pound mark as of today.
