It's Hard

I've been overweight ever since I can remember.
Growing up I would alway sneak food out of the
refrigerator or pantry. It's been so hard, and I think
if I continue down this path I will probably die.

I've had bouts with bulimia for about a half of year
out of desperation to be thin and pretty. I weighed
myself recently and found that my 5' 4" frame was
193 pounds. How did I get this big? I'm not even 20
years old yet.

GW: 125
CW: 193

I joined this forum so I could maybe get some support
and motivation from others possibly going through the
same situation.

Plan:
Vegetables and fruits are the way to go! I need to
stop eating so much, and stop eating junk!

yep, just yesterday, i lost 3 pounds from eating chicken breast and veggies for lunch and a 1/2 scoop of protein powder for dinner...

SERIOUSLY! VEGGIES WORK!!!

:) good luck!

Hi NatiPenn-

I had bouts of bulimia too, when I was around 17-20. It was a really difficult time. I'm 25 now and I finally made the change in my lifestyle to be healthier. When you change your lifestyle the pounds will fall off!

You're awesome for wanting to make this change now. You can do it!

Do you have a plan for food/exercise? For me the key is to make sure I don't feel deprived. If i feel deprived I freak out and binge, which eventually leads to purging. You'll find that if you can stomach healthy foods that you dont' really like that much for a while that eventually you won't crave the junk as much.

If you're out of shape, start walking! It's free and a great starting point to fitness. Maybe invest in a pedometer and try to hit a mark for miles that you walk in a day?

Anyway, welcome and you're going to do great.

Hi again Nati-

Just wondering how the day has been treating you. Are you going to be updating daily? A lot of people here list everything they eat/how much the exercise every day. Of course you don't have too, but it can be a great thing to look back on. I personally don't count calories because when i do i get a little crazy about it, but I do list what I eat and how much I exercise. :)

Anyway, I hope it's going great!

oh, okay! I didn't know that, but it sounds great!

Thanks for checking up on me! It's going pretty good. I haven't been discouraged about my weight really lately, and this forum is really encouraging. And so are you :)

Yes!

Okay, I don't think I'm the only one with this problem,
but doesn't it seem like every time you go camping or
on a vacation you gain weight with all the good food?

WELL, I just got back from a camping trip with lots of
yummy food, and I stayed the same weight! I'm so
happy. Usually I gain like 5 pounds on a vacation,
which I loose, but this time I didn't gain anything and
I'm so happy!

Okay, with that update out of the way, let's talk exercies.
I need to put more walks into my routine. I think I'm going
to take one today, but I have to hurry because I'm
meeting some friends to go to a drive in movie theatre.
Which is another accomplishment for me! Usually I'm
pretty self-conscious and try to avoid social situations.
Well, I'm off to take a walk now! Bye!

EDIT:Oh, I almost forgot! Today my mom said,
"Hey, I can see that you're loosing a little weight."

yay!

Woo hoo!

It's a very small accomplishment, but I've lost a pound! Now I'm in the 50's of pounds to loose.

What I ate:
Breakfast: part of a pancake, egg beaters, and some juice (wasn't too hungry)

Lunch: Spaghetti

Dinner: Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup

Snacks: I Had a Popsicle and some ice cubes.

I feel really full...It wasn't a very healthy day, but I've been getting in a LOT of around/outside the house work and I've been going for walks almost every day.

It's encouraging to loose yet another pound :D

Hey Nati -

Congrats on losing the pound!! You're on your way and going to feel worlds better as you keep shedding the pounds. Keep it up!

Good for you, Nat! At least you're starting at a young age. I tried and tried but was unsuccessful until I really got dedicated at about 36 years old. Stick with it and celebrate each little success but don't get too down if you stumble. One of my things was to tell myself, "Today I'm not going to eat poorly. I don't know about tomorrow, but I can control today." It works most of the time.

A little discouraged, but better!

Wow, thanks for the advice, NolaRob! I really appreciate it!

Sorry I haven't been on lately anyone who reads this, haha. I've been depressed lately, and then I gained most of the weight I lost (plus some >_<), but I lost about five pounds of it again.

I really feel like crying because my heaviest was 195. THAT IS 5 POUNDS AWAY FROM 200! I really feel terrible about it, but I'm telling myself that I can do this!

So I'm doing pretty good now. I should have read NolaRob's advice before tonight, 'cause I just got done eating some KFC :( I can do better tomorrow!

p.s. Oh yeah, school is starting monday the 25th (is that the 25th?) and I haven't lost any weight from last year. But I'm telling myself that even thought I didn't get that goal, the school year shouldn't stop me! I can still loose weight during the year!
I just wanted so bad to loose a lot of weight over the summer and be back at school and have people be like, "wow..." You know? But I still have time :D

Hey Nati! Hang in there Ive had bulimia for about 5 years of my life...and I just recently got treatment for it. There are a ton of supporting people on this board, losing weight is very hard, especially when trying to recover from an eating disorder. Stay optimistic and dont let small "failures" get in your way. Think of your health as the ultimate goal, not just a number on a scale!

Hi :)

Sounds like you have a really healthy plan!! You have been really brave to getthrough the bullimia and I hope that you will be happy and successful in your weightloss journey! Good luck :D

Hey Nat! glad I found your post...I'm young too (18) and also 5'4", ready for a lifestyle change. I think it's awesome we're taking initiative while we're still young, and I wish you all the best with losing weight! I've recently gained weight too, from too much binging. I made myself sick a few times, so in some sense I know where you're coming from with the bullimia thing. I think fruits and veggies is the way to go too - I'm going vegetarian since there's a lot of meat & seafood I don't like. I hope your diet's going well! I read you wanted to lose weight for school, which was something I wanted to do too (but obviously that didn't happen since I started posting on here lol). I vote we set a goal to lose a lot of weight for christmas break or for coming back after? :p I also saw how you said you were depressed & you gained a little weight (though lost it then...congrats!!) - that was my problem this summer too. Anyway, I guess since I'm noticing we kinda have a lot of similarities wanna be weight loss buddies or something?
