Gym worries

Reading about how you started has motivated me to finally join a gym.

It's a good thing that I did. My gym has a chiropractic clinic built into it and they recommend all new members to check with the chiropracter before starting anything there. The chiropracter examined my posture and took x-rays of my spine. He discovered that my spine was out of alignment and he told me that this problem had to be fixed immediately or my discs would wear out. In August I was in a car accident and when I went to the emergency room, the doctors told me I was fine, even after taking x-rays.

The gym is great, but frankly, I'm scared to death. Having never been to a real gym in my life, I have no idea what to expect. I want this to work, not fail like my other attempts to lose weight, but I'm afraid that it all will fall apart again.

`We've found a problem that will require many visits over the course of the rest of your life, which the doctors can't detect, and if you keep visiting us you will never have a problem'.

Try seeing a physiotherapist, chiropratic has too many roots in quack medicine to allow me to trust it much. The doctors were probably right, if your back was causing problems, it would hurt.

`We recommend all members see our resident chiropractor' sounds too much like money making . Has anyone visited this chiropractor and left with a completely clean bill of spinal health? I would be surprised.

Thanks for the advice, I'm pretty much a n00b at this stuff and any advice is welcome.
As for the visits, I will be going for only a few months. No one ever leaves a doctor with a 'completely' clean bill of health, not even Chuck Norris. But then again, Chuck Norris never has to see a doctor. The insurance company of the guy who hit me will be paying for it, so cost isn't really a problem for now.

Wow, I motivated you to go to the gym? That amazing! I'd be happy to help you with any questions. Trust me man, just go at least 4 times a week, for about 3 months. do it religiously, and eat healthier. don't starve yourself, just cut down on the portions a little bit. Do all that, and tell me it didn't work. You won't, you can't. and if you do, you'r an alien, inhuman. as long as calories in < calories out, you lose weight. thats the only diet system/workout routine/weight loss plan w/e that i used.

i can't wait to hear ur results man, take care and keep at it :D

Tomble, you're right. I've been doing some thinking and I've finally realized that my trainer and chiropractor are full of shite. I walked into the gym requesting a membership and I got one, but after that the first thing they did was set me up with a trainer and chiropractor, two services I never asked for. Now I'm down almost $900 and I am definitely bringing an end to this crap tomorrow. Oh well, we live and we learn.

another 15 lbs down, 25 more to go baby :D
no more pics for u guys till I reach that goal, then i'll post an album or something hahah
