It Starts...

Well Kudos for doing your part... and trust me High School Musical wont kill you... you might even get a laugh out of it!

I do not have any kids, but they are in my future plans. Stephen and I are "un-officially" engaged... which just means I don't have "the ring" and well he hasn't exactly asked but someday. We hope to have 2 or 3 depending on how things fall. Right now we are just trying to keep our heads above water financially. Its rough, but we make due. I think once I graduate things will begin to fall into place better... right now we just fly by the seat of our pants!!

I don't know how old your daughter is, but really hold on to that relationship. My dad and I have never been close... and now that I am older its... awkward to say the least when it comes to talking or spending time with him. Like I said I always wanted to be a Daddies girl... and I've tried to be closer but he just has no interest in me or my life what-so-ever. I think all girls want to be close to their Dads, but not all get that chance ya know?
 
Thought I would check in for the evening. Today has not been so great. I have been suffering from serious headaches since early June. I tried different things like cutting sugar but finally ended up going to the doc the end of June. Well she found a sinus infection and "tight muscles" well the sinus infection is all gone and I have a new set of headaches. These are unlike anything I have ever had... its like a hot sharp pain searing into the top of my head... I don't like to take pain killers, but I have tried both IB profin and Excedrin but neither really did much. I went to the eye doc last week and He doesn't think its my eyes. I requested to get a new comp screen at work, and it should be in this week, but I don't think its that either. After thinking about it I realized that I haven't slept a full night's sleep since school got out in May. I lie awake for seemingly hours and then drift in and out all night long until the alarm goes off. It hasn't bothered me as far as being tired goes, but I think these headaches could be a side effect of lack of sleep. Anyway long story short I went home early from work... I just felt like crap.... I didn't really rest though when I got home... I think I napped for maybe 30 mins, but woke up with a worse headache than I laid down with. So I am going back to the doc on Monday. I am pretty tired of not feeling like myself and letting these get in the way of life. I bought some sleep aid stuff to see if I can at least get a good night's rest in and if it makes any difference... Heres hoping!

Today's Eats

Breakfast:
1 cup hot tea: 0 pts
1/2 cup soy milk: 1 pt
1 pkt instant oatmeal: 2 pts
1 banana: 2 pts
Total: 5 points

Mid-day Snack:
1 vanilla yogurt: 2 pts
1 tbsp honey: 0.5 pts
Total: 2.5 Points

Lunch:
6" Subway Club (no cheese) on wheat: 4 Points
Total: 4 Points

PM Snack:
3 cups popcorn: 2 pts
Total: 2 Pts

Dinner:
1 Boneless/skinless chicken thigh: 3 pts
1/4 cup BBQ sauce: 1 pt
1/2 cup mashed potatoes: 3 pts
1 cup broccili: 0 pts
Total: 7 Points

Grand Total: 20.5 Points
Note: I was a little under today, but I just wasnt in the mood....

Hey I hope you feel better soon, and figure out what's causing the headaches. I have a similar sleepinh problem as you. Sometimes I will feel really tired as a result, but other times it doesn't effect me. I just can't seem to turn off my thinker and so I lie in bed and just keep thinking of the most rediculous things. Then I begin to concentrate on not thinking and it just makes me think harder. Viscious cycle that is.
 
With regards to your headaches... has anythign changed in your diet around the same time as your headaches started... food allergies can trigger headaches... sometimes the additives in foods can trigger headaches...
 
MissD, Sorry to hear about the headaches. I was going to suggest taking some honey for the sinus infection, but saw that you had it in your mid day snack. If you want the honey to help with your sinuses, it must be local honey. The honey that is produced by the flora that is around you will help prevent the infection.

Ed, I know what you mean about finding common ground with your daughter. Mine is just about 9 and we've really encouraged her to make her own path in life. That means that it can/will differ from any path that I might have chosen, but hopefully it will be right for her. You are right in thinking that you are the one to make the effort. My daughter wants to take flute lessons this coming school year, so I told her that she could, but only if she then teaches me each lesson. It will be good time that we’ll spend together, plus it will make sure that she is practicing.

My diet has been the same, no dramatic changes and I haven't added anything new and different. When I first started getting them I tried different things like cutting sugar and caffinee, but neither helped.

I think its a combo of stress and no sleep. I have considered going for a massage to help loosen the tension in my shoulders and neck. And I am going to the doc on Monday to get it straightened out. My eye doc suggested that it might be hormones too... so who knows!!

Thanks guys for checking in on me! I honestly don't feel much better today and the sleep aid I took didn't help... I still lied awake and drifted in and out of sleep last night. And like Adeon, my thinker just won't shut off and I try to do yoga breathing but it doesnt work my mind just wanders all over the place!

My head is ehh, not great but okay. I had a moment of "I feel GREAT" this morning, but it passed pretty quickly. I seriously think my job gives me headaches!

Anyway, I was wiped out this moring so didn't get a workout in. I got up and promplty went to the couch and laid back down until Stephen left.. and by that time I needed to start getting ready. But I packed my bag to go to salsa tonight. Hopefully I have some energy... usually the afternoons are killer.

1/2 cup FF milk: 1 pt
1 cup coffee: 0 pt
2 tbps creamer: 2 pts
1 ptk splenda: 0 pts

Note: I just bought this ceral last night and its really yummy, worth the points.. lots of protein and FIBER!!

AM Snack:
1 Banana: 2 pts
32 oz water: 0 pts
Total: 2 pts

Lunch:
2 slice wheat bread: 3 pts
1 tbsp Peanut Butter: 2 pts
1/2 tbsp honey: 0.5 pts
1/2 cup FF milk: 1 pt
1 Necturine: 1 pt
Total: 7.5

This leaves 5.5 points for this evening, however my salsa class is worth 7 points, so I will have a snack this afternoon before I go. And then dinner tonight will most likely be a frozen dinner... but we will see.

OH! I forgot to mention I think I am going to STOP using splenda... see if there is any difference in my head at all. I just started using it more heavely at the first of the month. I might look into another alternate, or just use sugar in small amounts!

Progresso makes some 0 point soups. I don't know if you've tried it yet. The Southwest Vegetable is my favorite.

Yes I love honey and PB too!! Thow in some apple slices and your set! However I forgot my apple on the kitchen counter this morning so the necturine had to fill in... ehh it was okay.. an apple would have gone better though!

I will check out the soups! Thanks for the tip! I learned that 0 points is only for the first serving, and then its 1 point for every serving after that... good to know!! I normally don't go over 1 serving, but on the occasion I do I'll know where to add!
 
It's two servings per can, and one can has 120 cal, 0 fat, and 8 fiber. I find one can to be filling.

I get mine from the health nut store. You spoon it in and grind it yourself. Cashew d almond butter are both a little smoother IMO. Try the honey trick also. It may smooth it a bit. I just start squeezing it in and taste after every tbs or so. No recipe because I buy different sizes lol.

Yeah I've seen the machine at whole foods, but never tried it... maybe after I get through this tub of skippy I'll try it out... just a small one to start!:iagree:
 
Just checking in for the evening...

I went to salsa... had a blast... then it was over... and then something terrible happened?! I got really ill... like I'm going to pass out while I'm driving sick.... I made it home, got out of my drenched clothes and sat down... but it wasnt over... I had waves of nausea for over an hour, my heart rate was up and down as well as my breathing.... my head of course was killing me.... Stephen gave me water and some bread... thinking my blood sugar dropped.... he was also cooking dinner... I attempted to get up and help but had to sit back down right away. Finally dinner was ready and I was picking at my food... and then whew... I felt better. I didn't eat much, but I think the little I did eat helped tremendously....

Currently I feel... okay... my head still feels really weird... like tingly and sharp and I dunno just weird. My tummy is better... I am exhausted overall... and a little freaked out to be honest... nothing like this has ever happened to me before and I don't know what to think or do... and eek!

Hopefully tomorrow is a new day and I feel better.... maybe I will actually get some sleep tonight....

Hey, MissD. How's it going today? Any better? The dizzy spells does not sound good. Should see a doctor about that. How's your blood pressure? That can do it some times. low food, low calories, lots of exercise, no blood to the brain. Just thinking here.

For the natural peanut butter, if you are getting prepackaged make sure that it doesn't contain palm oil or anything like that. Trader Joe's is just peanuts, or peanuts and salt. I keep it in the refrigerator to have it a little thicker. It's a bit runny at room temperature. Skippy, the regular kind, is so bad for you. Tons of hydrogenated oil. You'd do better to eat straight butter then that crap.
