Isometrics

Do Isometrics really work? I came across the word and looked up what it means, and it says if you flex specific muscles as hard as you can for 7 seconds and all the blood rushes into to the muscle it helps "tone" out those muscles?

What are your guy's opinions on isometrics

Do they work?
 
I think they don't do anything but work on the muscle's ability to do isometric work.

And what do you mean by "tone" out the muscles? It certainly won't burn off the fat cells around your muscles.
