Island Girls' Weight Loss Journey

Lisa thanks for stopping by. I don't know whats going on with my weight. On Monday the scale showed i dropped one pound but today its saying that i gained the pound again. Sigh...i know its just normal fluctuation but i was hoping for no weight gain at all. Especially since i know that i would be having a cheat meal or two on friday for my b'day. Anyways all i can do is keep exercising and eating in moderation. I am sure the weight will come off..its just taking its time. :svengo:
 
I think my tastebuds have changed over the last couple of months. For the longest while I have been craving thai food (green coconut curry chicken to be exact) and i told myself that for my b'day (tmrw) i will allow myself to indulge. I was so excited to finally get to satisfy this craving. Since i was at the mall today i decided to get myself the food but it was so disappointing!! It was salty and yucky.:puke: and to top it all off i had some sweet bread and now i feel like a whale!! All i am thinking about is the salt and the water retention and how bloated i feel. This week has not been so great with my eating. Sigh...and tomorrow, i am attending a dinner where i am sure there will very little 'healthy choices'. I will be going to the gym tomorrow for sure!!

I'm sorry your lunch was no good, that stinks when you've felt like something for so long and it ends up being dissapointing :( I know what you mean about taste changing though, mine is completely different now. I think it's because I was never genuinely hungry before. Now that I get truly hungry, I crave nutritious food. Yay for that!

Hope you have a better day tomorrow (and that there are some healthy and yummy choices at your dinner), and get spoilt rotten by your family :grouphug:

I've read your whole thread and you're going so well! Yay! Don't worry about the high-calorie day, just as long as you keep going as per usual it won't affect you in the long run. Don't worry about the pound that came back on! It'll be gone soon :D

hey everyone.
Thanks for the b'day wishes. So at the dinner i decided to have peas, chicken and salad and no dessert. Oh and water as my drink. It was the best i could do. As for the scale, it's better. I am now back down to 161 :D.. but i was guzzling water for the last couple of days and faithfully tracking my calories and exercising. Today however, I was may have gone over my calories by a couple hundred but i am not overly worried because I am sure i didn't cross 3500.

Even though the scale was troubling, my co-workers comments sure did boost my ego. They kept saying that i am looking so skinny etc...(i am no where near skinny though lol). It's really really nice when people notice the progress. My bro also, who lives with me and who sees me everyday commented as well. He saw me from a distance and he didn't recognize me :D. It really gave me the momentum to push on.

I went to spin this afternoon and i was pretty winded. Maybe i need to rest though i downloaded a new session from itrain (iclimb) and I sooo excited to try it. I think i will head to the gym tomorrow morn to test it out.

Awww, I missed your birthday! Hope it was a good one! Glad to hear you're getting compliments, aren't they wonderful??? It's one of the things that keeps us motivated!

So some good news. My size 16 jeans were getting so loose for me, I decided to go shopping for some new ones. I got a pair in size 13 juniors! (yes i have smallish hips and no bum..thats the indian in me). I am pretty happy that i could fit in some smaller clothes.

Also, at my church dinner, many of my friends commented on the weight i lost. One woman took a few seconds to realize who i was(granted my hair was open and I had my contacts on). The compliments were nice though.

So i have been toying with the idea of putting up some pics. I don't have any photos of my bod..just of my face. I am not sure if the weight loss is as apparent in my face though. The first pic was back in july, the second for my b'day on the 3rd of this month and the last pic was taken on the 11th of this month.

This week has been going terrible so far. I exercised on Monday but because its that TOM i haven't been feeling well enough to head to the gym since then. Also last night, i gave in to a late night craving..i ate 4 mini Cadbury chocolate (whole nut) pieces. :blush5:. This is in addition to the 2 i had earlier in the day. Also my calories have been on the high end every day so far. I have crossed 1600 daily but i have been pretty darn close every single day. Sigh...I think i need to get my lazy butt to the gym but i feel like i have no energy. Hoping to get out of this rut..

I hate exercising with TOM too. Just watch your cals and get lots of water and next week will be a new week to kick some butt!! Glad you had a good birthday - you look very happy in your pics! Keep it up!!

Thanks Lisa! I love purple...and i do wear it anytime i can. It's in my colour palette.

So i got up this morning ready to get going. 3 Days of no exercise for me can easily turn into weeks and since my eating habits were not that great i decided to head to spin class. Was a decent enough class. I was extremely tired after so i gatoraded up. Today the eating wasn't too bad either. I am heading to the movies in a few minutes though. I don't plan to eat anything so i had dinner already. I really hope that i don't give in to any cravings. I have been craving some french vanilla coffee with cream and sugar. I figure since i am going with a full stomach that I would be less tempted to snack at the movies. Here's the breakdown for today:

I'm going to have to do some googling to decipher your menu! I don't know what pineapple fluff is, but it sounds delicious :)

Haha, yeah normally i try to translate the local names of food before i post but i didn't do it this time. Pineapple fluff is the consistency of mousse..light and airy..with pineapple pieces. Pretty nice as a dessert..not as bad as cheesecake :)

Weight loss right now seems to be at a stand still. I seem to be yo-yo-ing between 159 to 161. Its pretty annoying. I guess its because i haven't been clamping down on what i eat as i used to. Now that I am on vacation my routine is a bit off. I did try today to stick within my calorie limit. We'll see how things pan out at my next weigh-in. Fingers crossed.
On a brighter note, I have resurrected a pair of pants while cleaning out my closet. :D. Now all i need is a fabulous pair of brown shoes and I will be rocking it out when i go back to work in January. Laura, you have ignited my shoe craze again. :biggrinjester: I love this feeling of finding 'new' clothes :D

It sounds even more delicious now that I know what it is! I love pineapple, and mousse! Yum! That's so exciting about the pants :) Glad you've got an excuse for a new pair of shoes!! Not that us girls ever need a real excuse, haha. We'll see how I feel about my newly discovered desire for heels once I forget to change into boots before leaving for lunch someday and I fall on the snowy Boston streets! :ack2: Until then, I am excited!

I love purple, too, and it really is a great color on you! I have to watch myself, because I use my purple purse pretty much every day and wear purple glasses, so if I'm not paying attention on a wintery day I could easily find myself in a purple hat, scarf, gloves, glasses, purse, sweater, and eyeshadow. And even for a purple-lover, that's a little much for me, hahaha.

SCS, not so sure I was able to keep everything under control as I would have liked but thanks...this year was definitely a step up from last year.

Though the Christmas Season temptation is far from over, so far its been going ok...i decided I was not going to count calories as meticulously as i would on a normal day. But at the same time i decided i was going to eat in moderation so as not to feel deprived. I was even able to exercise Christmas day and Boxing day. :D

I think however the part i am most pleased with is the spin class burnout i attended this morning. Last month on the 4th, I went to the same intensive type spin class and I felt like a failure at the end. I was mucho depressed after because i was unable to do most of the exercise. This morning however, I felt great and i was able to keep up with the rest of the class. Granted my resistance was probably lower than it usually is... but nevertheless it felt good to get thru.
