Is this a good size for a linebacker.

you're lucky...my coaches wont give us playbooks. they expect us to memorize them just from practice. we run a 3-5-3 defense. so it looks like this:
Dog----Bat----Mike----Bat----Dog
----End----Nose Guard----End----

i was moved by the coaches from safety to Dog(outside LB)

do you think these are good stats for a LB?:
Height- 5'8
Weight- 154
40 yard time- somewhere between 4.40-4.60
Bench Press 1rm- 200
Squat 1rm- 275

damn, I wish I had your stats. They are alot faster and stronger them mine, you should consider yourself lucky for doing all that. I wish I could run in the 4's.

And your play formation looks odd. Mine is alot easier . A 3-4 Defense. I play in the Middle.

Heres are comparison of our stats.....
You-Me
Age-15, 15
Height- 5'8, 5'9
Weight- 154, 159
40 yard time- somewhere between 4.40-4.60, 5.25
Bench Press 1rm- 200, 130
Squat 1rm- 275, 200

Yesterday was my last 2-a-day. My lower back is killing me. Chances are I won't start. The guy who I am battling for Strong Middle Line Backer got 5 tackles that day in the scrimmiage. I only got 1 sack.

I can't wait till next year. I have big goals ahead of me. If your curious, here they are:

40 time- 4.7 Seconds
Shuttle- 4.3 Seconds
Squat- 315 Pounds
Bench- 210 Pounds
Clean- 180 Pounds
Deadlift- 420 Pounds
Vertical- 30 Inches
Weight- 190 Pounds

And I hope I increase height wise, I should spurt soon. My father is 6'6. :)

unfortunately for me i am done growing in height. my fadda is only 5'7. i also have lower back problems now that have sidelined me for the past 2 days of practice. i will be returning monday but i feel that the pain will just come back as strong as it was. i was barely able to move...i probably should have rested it before preseason but by playing through it it just got much worse.

i am planning to start using creatine to make my gains even bigger. we dont have our scrimmage until the 26th...but luckily for me, the JV team started with about 40 players and is now down to about 20. and over 5 of them are ineligable to play in the scrimmage because they missed practice. so i should get alot of PT

I am so pissed off about this back injury...i would be guaranteed the starting OLB position if i wasnt hurt. but 1 good thing is that i dont need to study our defensive plays because the OLB only blitzes on plays that end with "black".

I couldn't practice today either. I am going to get my back x-rayed tommorow. I had problems getting out of bed and my back hurts even when I try to stretch. I tried ice, sportes creme, everything. Nothing seems to work. I have to study my playbook though, for my position. Its really hard to understand we have like 8 coverage, 4 blitzes (loops, cross, go, snake) and 4 fronts (eagle, base, heavy, light).

it doesnt look like i'll be playing in the scrimmage. i am starting physical therapy and i am expected to be back to football this time next week...but there is also a chance that i could be out for the season

Your injury looks more severe then mine. I'm starting to feel better and I may play in the scrimmage tommorow. I can bend my back and run with it now.

they think that there are torn ligaments but it could be worse

in other news...my team looked horrible in the scrimmage. we were destroyed. 60-6(they decided not to do any fgs/xps)

Well I just got the news today. I am not starting. I'm 4th string in the depth chart at middle linebacker which is like OUCH!. But I got moved over to Defensive End (where I am also a backup).

My back still hurts, but its enough to deal with. My team won the first game 27-0. It was a very good game. I got in for 3 plays and almost had a tackle. I got into the backfield and grabbed the quarterback leg. but he pulled away. so close to a sack!!

Good luck. In general, most coaches look for an athlete willing to go the extra mile and then pull more out of themself. Pick the brain of your coach often and let him know you're willing to do what it takes.

Granted it comes down to winning games and this is where the coaches mind is at.

Rudy, Ruuudy, Ruuuudy

I also play linebacker. Here are my stats.

40 time-4.8
Max Bench-350
Max squat-500
Max clean-285
Vertical-37"
Height-5'10
Weight-200

i'm out for another 2 weeks and might be out for the rest of the season.

my team is awful. here are the scores from the games:
scrimmage-lost 60-12
week 1(major rivalry)-lost 72-0
week 2-lost 34-0

40 time-4.8
Max Bench-350
Max squat-500
Max clean-285
Vertical-37"
Height-5'10
Weight-200

now those are great stats

72-0 ? Ouch. My coaches would kill us if we had that kind of score. Is your team not stepping up or was the other team just real good? WE would do LOTS of hills. We have this hill on our practice field that is like 45 degrees and it is pretty long.

last year we did 1 hill for every point we allowed in a game...this year for whatever reason they arent doing that. it was a combination of us doing bad and them doing very good. on 1 play, the kicked it off and our returnman just watched it roll to the 1 and decided not to pick it up and the other team jumps on it and takes it in for the TD

we just lost 45-0 last night...do you know how much it sucks to have a 90 minute bus ride coming home after getting killed?

Your coach must be really angry. I don't know what its like losing exactly. Last year our record was 7-3 which was good in my opinion. Was your coach yelling for 90 minutes?

My game got cancelled Thursday but today we have a game at 8:00 PM. Saturday night lights! I can't wait. I'm going to get a little playing time at line backer and defensive end. Our varsity team got beat last night and the Running back broke his collar bone.

he pretty much ignored us...acting as if we werent worth talking to. but he did say that starting monday, anyone who is talking during practice about something that isnt about a play or formation, etc. will not be allowed to play in the next game and everyone will have to do 50 yard bear crawls. and anytime someone fumbles the ball there will be 200 yard sled pushes + 10 10-yard sprints without any break(and that is for each time that someone fumbles). he also extended practice to atleast 1 hour longer everyday

Ouch, that is alot of work....

We lost to huningtown today. This is my Coaches first Home-field lost. WE lost 20-6. I was actually in a good mood however, I played Defensive End for 4 plays and had 3 tackles in a row. The guy who is starting in front of me only had 2 tackles in the entire game.

And my Back had no pain at all, I didn't even notice.

Good luck with you alls next game. Gotta end that losing streak.

it looks like i'm probably out for the rest of the year with the back problem...it just isnt getting better. but what's even worse than that is i now have a shoulder problem that has kept me from weight training for over a week and it looks like i wont be able to be doing any lifting for another week if not more
