Is there a PROPER way to do Sit-Ups?

Well folks...

I have been doing crunches for about a week now and I gotta say... I am really not feeling much out of these crunches... it just seems like they really aren't doing much for my abs at all.

Ever since I started doing them, it feels like my neck is getting more of a workout than my abs.

So... I don't understand why I'm not noticing anything, but anyway...

I'm thinking about going back to doing sit-ups, because at least when I would do sit-ups I would notice a difference in how my abs felt. Do you guys think this is a bad idea and that I should just stick with the crunches and see if anything happens in the next couple of months? Because I'm confused as to why the crunches are not working.

The reason I switched from sit-ups to crunches is because I read that sit-ups are bad for your spine and your lower back and that crunches are much better for you but if crunches aren't working for me then why should I keep doing them?

Do you guys know if there is a correct way to do sit-ups so that they don't hurt the spine or the lower back at all?

If you know of the correct way I would love to know how to do them.

Thanks in advance, folks!! :)

I've been reading up a bit on this lately... It seems to me that if you continue with sit-ups instead of crunches you're only going to end up disappointed. Crunches really get way more concentration on the abdominal muscles with a lot less risk of injury.

So yeah, correct form is demonstrated well in the videos above. Just mimick them

You were obviously having bad form by digging your neck into your chest, which is not the way a crunch is supposed to be done.

Ok thanks a ton guys!!

And thank you NBS 4 Life a lot for the videos they help out a lot.

Yeah I guess I was doing them a little bit wrong but no big deal now I can do them the right way and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks again!! :D
