Is it possible to break a two year PLATEAU?!

Thanks friends for the props!

I was refeeding today as I was feeling depleted, and now I'm full and feeling good. Still no snacks, just some nice Spanish food for dinner. Here's my menu for today:

*1 small slice 8 grain bread
*bagel w/ cream cheese & smoked salmon (bfast)
*bagel w/ cream cheese & smoked salmon (lunch)
*1 cucumber, water in blender
*2 Jolly Ranchers (cranberry juice, watermelon Bacardi, ice)
*rice, beans, fried boneless chicken
*1 cucumber, cherry tomatoes, water in blender
*cup almond milk
*2 slices 8 grain bread w/ butter
*1 cup vanilla ice cream w/ pecans

I may even have a tad more, but nothing too bad. Still no exercise, but I hope to get out a for scenic 3 mile walk on both Sat and Sun when I go visit my mom in the country.

Hope all is well with everyone out there in internet land :).

Last night I ended up eating another 2 slices of 8 grain bread and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream w/ pecans. Normally after doing a "refeed" I would go up a bit the next morning, then lose the weight again the next time I eat low again, but THIS TIME the scale stayed at my new low! These pounds are just SMOKING finally! I can't believe how easy this is all of a sudden. I haven't even been exercising.

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend. I'm about to head up to my mom's house in CT and take my daughter to the beach and stuff. Its a nice sunny day out.

congrats on breaking your 2 year plateau! i can't imagine being stuck at the same weight for that long...i think i may have began banging my head off the wall in frustration. but, at least it's gone and the weight is going the correct way...off! :)

i hope this continues to go easy for you! in my case, the last few lbs (10 or so) are always the hardest...i can get down to 120 with some dedication to my diet and hard work at the gym, but 115 almost kills me. pasta and dessert is wayyyy to tempting!! ughh.

Good Evening sexy momma! :seeya:

I'm so so happy your plateau has been squashed! Maybe the new hormones have fixed it once and for all.

Pretty good re-feed if you ask me. MMMMM I love salmon! Not sure I can do salmon and bagel, but I love them both separately. LOL LOL

I'm proud of you eating those veggies, you go girl!! I'll check in on you later, hope your evening was a great one!
Hugs
Kim

Thanks Shep03 and Kim! I ate well on the weekend, except that I bought a large bag of Funyons and ate the 6 servings (baby ate 1 serving) over the course of Sat and Sun, and I also had a Whopper Jr w/ 1/2 small fries for dinner yesterday. Other than that, I ate really healthily and did a sort of re-feed again. I am still 1 pound less than I was last Monday, so that is good since my weight always hikes up after the weekend.

My mom totally noticed the weight loss, and I must say, from just a few pounds its making a big huge difference. My chin/neck is actually starting to look like it did all my life, until 3 years ago when I gained this weight. I thought it was from aging and getting older, but obviously it was plain ole fat.

I am feeling so good and just ecstatic at how things are going finally. Its been a frustrating few years and I'm hoping that its all behind me. Still not so confident..

Hello Blancita, Congratulations on your continuous dropping of the weight! I am very happy for you that you stayed so strong throughout your plateau. You must have learned a lot from yourself?

Rather, you can't magically lose weight without cutting calories, but when you do cut calories, you should lose and if you dont there's a problem. I think after I finish my book about bio-identical hormones (that had a hand in curing my mom of 7 years of severe illness), I will see if I can get this finetuned even more. So far I'm sleeping better too.

Maybe I haven't been on board long enough to notice that kind of a change from just cutting calories and no exercise yet. Because when I don't exercise I feel guilty even with the cut calories. But maybe that was the extra weight loss that I was having at first....interesting, I could always experiment for a week or two, I might go a bit nuts, but I am sure it couldn't hurt....:willy_nilly: LOL

I think I could learn quite a bit from you ladies, with all of your vast research and knowledge. :) I am especially interested in this book that you're now reading in regards to the "bio-identical hormones."

WOOT! Sounds Awesome! :hurray:

P.S. I've just discovered Almond Breeze Milk, I love it, creamy no lactose, and only 40 cals/cup, oo Plus Unsweetened. I love this stuff, now to get it in bulk. hmm

I Love Almond Breeze, it has a lovely taste, a bit pricey but I really enjoy it. I pick it up every now and then instead of milk, and I like it just as much, if not more. I prefer regular milk in my tea though..lol

Hey girl :)

Yeah, I learned that I dont leave any stone unturned when I know something's off. And I dont listen to the experts that say it is impossible to not burn fat if you cut your calories.

I've lifted weights since 1993, on and off about 5 to 6 months out of the year just 2 40 min sessions, but I am quite muscular for that modest effort. Not in a masculine way cuz I'm pretty much booming in every direction (very curvy: big boobs and big butt) and I like it that way. The muscle adds to that curvy look and its visible and keeps my butt and boobs higher up. So while I definitely should be exercising more, I do walk a mile a day getting around my city, plus I've been doing at least an hour or two of exercise on my weeks when I claim I get no exercise (like I did a 3 mile brisk walk on Sun). Point is that I will not turn into one of those thin people with no muscle tone, so maybe I'm not as worried.

I will need to go look up the title and I need to get it finished, but it just sits by my bedside table..

I'm avoiding dairy products over this theory about giving the liver a break from animal protein and fats so it can burn fat better. Possibly a hokey theory, but I'm really enjoying substituting other things for animal protein, except maybe a serving a day (had grilled chicken last night).

Gotta run to work, will catch up later!

So my plan seems to be working for now so I will keep it up. That entails eating around 1400-1600 calories on Mon-Thurs, and then doing a re-feed on Fri, Sat and Sun (between 1800-2300 calories). The cool thing is I'm not counting calories, just watching what I eat. That worked to get off the 30 lbs and is working now..so far.. So yesterday I ate this:

*shake: 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, cucumber, water in blender
*8 grain bagel w/ butter
*green salad w/ carrots, cucumber, tomatoe and 1/4 avocado (no dressing)
*watermelon
*shake: cucumber, water in blender
*4 oz grilled chicken, 1/2 cup rice, cherry tomatoes
*handful almonds
*2 slices chalah bread

The best part is how sexy I feel! I felt so good in my outfit going to work today. The stomach is nice and flat and the boobs were popping out in my shirt. I felt GOOD for a change!

Actually I'm thinking the raw foods might be having an important effect, rather than just the number of calories.

Here's a good site I was just reading:

Most raw food, like our bodies, is very perishable. When raw foods are exposed to temperatures above 118 degrees, they start to rapidly break down, just as our bodies would if we had a fever that high. One of the constituents of foods which can break down are enzymes. Enzymes help us digest our food. Enzymes are proteins though, and they have a very specific 3-dimensional structure in space. Once they are heated much above 118 degrees, this structure can change.

Once enzymes are exposed to heat, they are no longer able to provide the function for which they were designed. Cooked foods contribute to chronic illness, because their enzyme content is damaged and thus requires us to make our own enzymes to process the food. The digestion of cooked food uses valuable metabolic enzymes in order to help digest your food. Digestion of cooked food demands much more energy than the digestion of raw food. In general, raw food is so much more easily digested that it passes through the digestive tract in 1/2 to 1/3 of the time it takes for cooked food.

Aint that the truth! I've been using the bathroom 3 times a day instead of my normal one time in the morning!

Cooked food burns more calories? :)

The calories we burn through digesting food, I personally believe is negligible and it is no comparison to the increased ability of the liver to metabolize fat. I got the raw idea from Alta and CurvieGirlie, who seem to be very successful with weight loss. Its certainly working for me right now!

Congrats on the weightloss thus far and breaking your plateau. I am kinda stuck on one right now and its really annoying me but i also know i'm not doing so hot in the food report area so i think that maybe my problem.. lol anyways.. keep up the great work.

That is very interesting. Like it says, " You Are What You Eat" my BM's are GREEN!!! It's Working, It's working! Because you ALL needed to know that. ;P

I am glad you felt great today! Than that is when we will see pictures? ;) Where'd your Kick Ass Avatar go? I liked that one. :)

I don't have any advice, just at the same place. When I went for a foot thing back in March I was 189 at the doctor's office and well it's 4 months later and I weight 183 most days. UGH! 6 lbs in 4 months??? To me I'm still too high to sit on such an extended plateau with the amount of activity I do. One thing I did notice quite by accident is that I exercise quite a bit(I'm a freak of nature who likes it--every class is a challenge so I enjoy each session). Anyway, because of illness and some other obligations I backed waaaay off(this was 2 weeks ago) and I actually consumed more calories then normal because I ate out a couple of days. AFTER these two weeks and in my most bloated period(day before TOM) I was actually down to my very lowest in this journey 181 sooooo??? Now I'm 1 week back at it and I'm up 3 lbs????? Hello????

I'm thinking maybe it's time to take a break from working out so much. I might take the rest of the summer down to just an hour a day, 4 days a week until the kids start school again in Sept. I do have a feeling I may have adjusted to the activity level. My body seemed ready to 'let go' of lbs when I scaled back accidentally a couple weeks back. :ack2: ugh!

Well, I'm not much help huh? sorry LOL

I hope your loss continues though!!!!:driving:

Hey Sexy MOMMA! you better be posting some updated pics now that your down all those pounds. :toetap05:

I'm so happy for you!!! Keep up the great work!!! I love RAW food! mmmm
