Inspired, Motivated, & Ready: Part 2

I joined this site just under a year ago, in September. After reading numerous journals and seeing so many success stories, I decided I had no room for excuses anymore and it was time to shed my extra weight and get in shape. You can find my old journals here:

If you don't know me already, I'm Sarah. A 20 year old college student who loves to party, like many college students. I'm 5'4" and started this journey at 156 pounds. Through calorie counting and exercising like crazy, I managed to get to 135 pounds. The lowest I got to was 133 pounds, but after a week long trip to Florida for spring break, the weight went back up and it's been a struggle ever since. My weight has been up and down anywhere between 137-141 pounds all summer, and I've had enough.

As of this morning, I'm 139.8 pounds and my goal at this moment is to get back to 135 by the time school starts (the beginning of September). I know I've said it all before: I'm ready, I'm determined, I'm going to get back to my old ways and work hard again. Well I have nothing to show for myself because I haven't been putting in the effort.

Summer is almost over. The fun is over. It must be this time of the year, because believe me when I say, I've got my head on straight, and I'm ready to rock! I am going to lose these last few pounds but more importantly than that, I'm going to get back into shape like I was before spring break. I tried on a pair of jeans the other day that I wore during winter and guess what... they were tight! You would think they would fit loser in the summer, but no! This was the sign for me that it's time to get back in shape and be healthy again!

I've already started counting my calories, I'm back to working out, and now I truly feel like I did a year ago: inspired, motivated, and ready!
 
So far, so good. Except for yesterday.

I worked out Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I stayed within my calories both Sunday and Monday, but yesterday I didn't eat very well. I work at a summer day camp and every year one of the moms brings the staff a bunch of pizza and cookies. I couldn't resist, even though I wanted to! I also made some cupcake pebbles rice krispy treats with my friend last night and had some of those. BUT, today is a new day and I started it off fresh with an egg sandwich - egg whites and a slice of cheese on a multi grain english muffin (205 calories). I even cut the rest of the rice krispy treats and packed them up to bring to work for my coworkers!

I went grocery shopping yesterday and bought a lot of healthy food. I am excited to pack my lunch for work today so I can eat some of the things I bought! I have not worked out today yet but I will tonight after I get home from work.

So overall I'm hanging in there - I really enjoy counting calories and paying more attention to what I'm eating. I've been getting at least 30 minutes of cardio in a day and that feels great too.

This weekend I am going up north to my friend's cottage. This will involve lots of drinking. I'm just going to enjoy myself, have a good time, not worry so much about all the calories but I will try to eat healthier - stay away from the chips and junk food.

Thanks so much! It kinda sucks to look back at my pictures and see how well I was doing because I'm not at that point anymore, but it is a good reminder that I've done it before, I can do it again! Anyone can!

Still on track! Yesterday I ended at 1,315 calories for the day. I also ran 2 miles on the treadmill and my abs routine. I wanted to work out longer but I was running low on time. I shouldn't have taken a nap during the day! Oh well, something is better than nothing!

I just got home from my run outside. The route I go takes about 30 minutes to complete so I'm guessing it's somewhere around 3 miles in distance. I don't have time to do any other exercise right now because I have to leave for work in 30 minutes and I have yet to finish my breakfast, shower, pack a lunch, and get dressed! So that's all for now. Cheers to a good week! I'll be back for one more update before I leave this weekend.

Yesterday didn't end so well. I ate great all day and had about 200 calories left after dinner, but I went babysitting and the girls wanted to make brownies. I couldn't resist! I even had a slice of pizza. But at least I stopped at one! I still got up this morning and did my 3 mile run outside. Man, was it hot out there! I didn't have time to do any more exercise because I had to get to work.

Now it's time to head up north for some friends, fun, food, and drinks! I worked out 5 days in a row, I think I deserve 2 days off! Back to it on Sunday! Have a great weekend everyone :)
 
Had a fun weekend - lots of sun, lots of booze, lots of sleep too! I tried to eat healthy for the most part... did way better than the last trip up north, but still ate more than I should have. I didn't let that get me off track though, as soon as I got up, it was back to calorie counting! I ended today at 1,280. I went for a run tonight and except for all the mosquitos hitting my face, it was really nice to feel a cool breeze. I actually ran a little over 3 minutes faster than my usual time!

I signed myself up for a 5K this weekend. I'm running for the Arthritis Foundation. It feels great to be running again! Just about 2 and a half weeks until school starts... I'm not sure where I'm at with my weight right now but I hope I can get to 135lbs by then or at least close to it! I'm just glad to be back on track.

Happy Monday!

I started today with breakfast rather than exercise first like I usually do. I woke up suuuper hungry, I needed something right away. I had an egg whites and cheese sandwich on a whole wheat english muffin and 1/2 cup of pineapple chunks. This meal is 275 calories.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to go for a run outside this morning or hop on the treadmill and walk fast paced incline. I'll be doing one of those for sure though before I head to work.

Hey Sarah! Good to see you on track! It feels good to be back! I'm in a little rut and needing a good day to get me back. I think I need to work on some new goals and a new plan and get my head straight. So glad I have you here for motivation! That's awesome you signed up to run this weekend - so proud! Keep it up!

I'm glad you're back Lisa! I know it's going to be somewhat of a struggle to get back on track with everything but once you get going, it will be easy. And I am NOT falling off the wagon any time soon so you've got me here to do it with ya! :)

Okay, so I left off here on Monday. After my post, I put my shoes on and ran outside. I finished the route about 2 and a half minutes faster than usual. I think it's because I ate breakfast first, I had more energy. I did some arm work and abs after to finish up. I ate great all day and stayed within my calories until I went out to my house at school with my friends. I had dinner at 6PM so by the time 10:30PM rolled around and everyone wanted to get Taco Bell, I wanted some too. I drank 1 glass of wine as well.

Yesterday I woke up really sore from my workout the day before. Out of the past 9 days that I started working out again, I had only missed one day so I decided to take a break from yesterday. I was counting my calories and eating healthy until my girlfriends and I went out for cheesecake. I also got wings for dinner with my ex and pigged out... but hey, I got my period, it was calling for sweet and salty!

I'm back on today though. Just had a bowl of oatmeal, added a tbsp of natural honey peanut butter so I'm starting off today with 260 calories. I'm going to go for a run outside here in a little bit after the breakfast has settled. Then I'm going shopping with an old friend for the day!

It sounds like you're doing good on those last few pounds. And I hope you keep up writing here after you hit your goal! :)
 
It's funny how everytime you talk about having something higher calorie it's when you are around your friends - when you are alone you make the right choices so that counts for something!!! Now you just have to get your friends on board and you will be at your goal again in no time!
I haven't ran outside in so long - I need to get over my fear of the hot humid air. It's not even like I can say I've tried it and don't like it.

Funny you say that thing about my friends because yesterday at the mall my friends decided to get pizza at the mall and of course then I wanted some! UGH! But I do make good choices otherwise. At least I've got the exercise down. It has started to cool down around here so running outside hasn't been as horrible. You just gotta go at the right time of day!

Going out with my friends is nothing but a bad influence on me! I was doing fine yesterday until I got to the mall with them and we stopped at Starbucks and then Sbarro for lunch a little later. Blah. Well it's a new day. I worked out this morning on the treadmill and did some kettle bell exercises then abs. I had half of a multigrain bagel with cream cheese and some strawberries for breakfast.

I'm working all day so I will be making healthy choices. However, tonight, my friends and I are going out to my house at school to party. I work all day tomorrow so I KNOW I shouldn't drink or anything but I can't say I won't get sucked into it. As long as I make good choices the rest of the day, I guess that's better than nothing.

Of course it is and you got a workout in so it will be like maintaining. I think that's the way to do it! I just can't wait to finally reach my goal and attempt maintaining! One day I know I'll get there. Have a good day at work.
 
Hey guys! Just got back from the 5K this morning. I finished in 26:51... this is 3:01 faster than the last 5K I ran. It was HOT AS HELL outside but the run went by so fast, it was a really great path right along the lakefront in the city, I LOVED it!

As far as the eating goes, this week hasn't been the best because I have my period and I've been with my friends way too much. I ate out almost every day this week, ouch! But I got 5 days of exercise in, which I'm proud of. And now that I am almost done with TOM, I think I can shed some weight this next week.

I'm off work for the weekend. I'm going to a baseball game tonight with my friends, it should be fun, it's a great day!

Wayyyy too much drinking this weekend. But I had a lot of fun. The scale tells me the fun is over though - this morning I was up to 142.8 :( I'm sure it's from all the drinking but STILL, I neeeeed to work harder!

I don't work until 3PM today and all I want to do is lay around but I will get exercise in before I go. I don't feel like running today, maybe I will go for a bike ride. Ten days til classes start... I've got to soak up this summer sun before it's over!
 
Awesome work on the 5km!!:hurray: I forgot you were running that this weekend. Do you know what place you finished? I'm getting nervous for the half marathon and trying to run outside more because I got really comfortable with the treadmill for a while. Let's have a great week - I'm due!

Thanks Lisa! I totally thought I was going to throw up after I crossed the finish line. I haven't run that hard in a long time, and it was sooo hot outside. But I ran to the tents where they give out food and grabbed a banana and water to ease my stomach. I'm not sure what place I finished in... I did not sign myself up for the chip timing, I just timed myself with my own watch. I also figured my pace time out, 8:38/mile! I haven't been using the treadmill as much lately but it's because the weather has been so much nicer, I want to take advantage of it while I can! Definitely get out there!

Yesterday was good! I rode my bike (not sure how far) but it was about a 45 minute ride and it was the PERFECT day for it! I didn't have time to do any other exercise by the time I got home because I had to go to work. I did good with my eating all day. My mom made some "lasagna" out of sausage, cheese ravioli, and spaghetti sauce... I had some for dinner and I was sooo tempted to have seconds but I let my stomach settle with what I served myself because I knew it already wasn't the BEST choice. I stayed up really late after dinner so my stomach kept growling. I went to the kitchen and reached for a cookie - then I put it back and poured myself a small cup of skim milk instead! Which BTW, I used to LOVE milk... but since I don't drink it any more, it tasted soooo weird to me. I don't like it anymore!

Today I am going to go for a run outside, then I'm heading over to my friend's house because we are going to the lakefront to go for a bike ride and have a picnic :) I'm glad I'll be getting exercise, and we'll have our lunch packed instead of trying to find somewhere to go out to eat at. It's going to be another good day, I know it! :)

I'm down 2 pounds since yesterday, so I'm glad this drinking weight is coming off. I'm going on a camping trip this weekend so I want to be slimmed down for that because on Saturday we are spending the whole day tubing down a river! I am going to take some pics this morning to start doing progress pics again... I'll post those soon.
 
A picnic sounds like so much fun! What a good idea to hang out with your friends but stick to your goals. I'm glad you put the cookie back and had a great day yesterday! I'm sure today will be great for you too! So jealous your having all that fun and I'm sitting at work - booo!
