Inspired, motivated, and READY!!! :)

Good morning :)

Monday's goal: Run 3 miles before weight training class - CHECK!

It feels so good to just say, "I did it!" Even if it wasn't a GREAT accomplishment, I planned it and followed through... and it makes me feel proud :D I think I'm going to like this different goal every day kind of thing!

So I ran a little over 3 miles on the track and it took me 27:38. Then I had my weight training class that consisted of circuit training for 40 minutes. I worked my arms a lot and I'm excited to say that I'm finally starting to see some muscle ;)

Before I hit the gym, I ate 10 almonds (65 cal). I just had breakfast now which was an egg (70 cal) and half a bagel w/light cream cheese (145 cal).

Monday is off to a great start - and I plan to FINISH STRONG! This means going to bed at a reasonable time so that I DON'T stay up with my roommate and friends to sit around and eat!!! :smash: Plus I need to focus on my school work - there is a lot to do this week!

:hurray:Good work today Sarah!! :hurray: I like the daily goals too!
You are right to what you wrote today - we got this! I see good things happening this week - let's stay consistent!

Give your head a shake girl!!! How is that NOT a great accomplishment?!?! Don't sell yourself short... You planned it, and followed through... THAT IS A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT!!!! Good for you :D

"A goal without a plan is just a wish."

Today in my communications class, we began talking about our "goal proposals." Basically we have to come up with 3 goals and create a plan of what to do and how to do it and when we'd like to reach those goals. My teacher opened up the discussion with this topic and it really hit home for me because it applies to this whole journey - if there is no plan, then our "goal" isn't attainable and all we'll do is want it. To have it we must take action! I think this quote is going to be sort of my "rock" this week as I have laid out different plans of action in hopes that I can reach my next weight loss goal! I'm going to keep referring to it whenever I feel like maybe I don't want to do this or do that... I'm going to remind myself that I have GOT to stick to the plan!

Food was great today, I just ate a small salad and now I'm going to have some light wild turkey mushroom soup. Yummmm :)

That's so cool that your classes relate to your weight loss journey - must make paying attention a little easier because it's interesting. Good job sticking to your daily goals - i'm really liking the concept too.
I'm still having chocolate cravings but have been able to say no a little easier this week - the exercise is finally getting back to where it should too - now just the snacking and i'll be back 100%. I need to make some goals for snacking! Have a great day Sarah!

:iagree: I should make a snacking goal too - last night I did not feel hungry but I wanted something really sweet - I'm blaming the PMS! I didn't do bad though because I didn't go over for calories and I ate relatively healthy snacks. After dinner I had some peach slices, a handful of almonds, and a 100 chex mix strawberry yogurt pack. My total calories for the day was 1,370.

My legs are so sore today! I did the sitting leg press with the weight at 225 lbs yesterday so I'm really feelin' it. But today I am going to the core complete and step class again :) Gotta loosin' up those muscles and keep 'em workin'!

For breakfast I just had a bowl of oatmeal and a yogurt (260 cal). It REALLY filled me up!

Today's goal is to drink at least 100 oz. of water. I think it will be easy today since I'm going to take those work out classes...

That's all for now :D

I used to tell everyone all the time "The only difference between a dream and a goal is putting it on paper." Just got to make a plan! I'm a total quote dork though.

I like you're small daily goals. I was getting stressed out last night b/c I have like a bizillion things I was trying to do and putting off. Just one step at a time.

I like that one, I'm a quote dork too :D

Survey time!

Starting weight: 156 lbs.

Current weight: 135 lbs.

Goal weight: 125 lbs.

How long have you been on your current weight loss plan? Almost 5 months now.

How long do you think it will take you to meet your overall weight loss goal? I'm planning on being at my goal weight by mid-May at the very latest.

What made you want to lose weight initially? I was starting the beginning of my sophomore year of college at a new school and was totally out of control with eating and drinking alcohol. I was looking at pictures of myself and hated how I looked. I stepped on the scale and saw that the number had gone up a lot and I was getting closer and closer to 160. I decided that I had to take control or else I would keep putting weight on.

Did anyone influence your choice to lose weight? If so, how? Well, I would have to say my mom. She always made comments and I hated her for it but now I realize it's because she has been overweight her whole life and didn't want me to end up so unhappy like her. I told her that I planned to lose weight and she told me to watch my calories. I said, "I don't have to do that - I can just eat healthier food and exercise." She told her personal trainer that I said that and hooked me up with her via e-mail. The trainer explained to me the steps I needed to take to lose weight and that calorie counting helped her go from 192 lbs to 122! She also sent me the link to this website and that's how I found the forum. Then I read Melissa's journal and decided to start my own. So I had a few influences :)

What steps have you taken to lose weight? Counting calories, going to the gym at least 5 times a week, not eating out as much, and not partying as much!

Are there any challenges that get in the way of your weight loss? If so, what? Well, I'm a college student so that's pretty obvious. Going out and staying up late, consuming too much alcohol and then getting the munchies! Snacking is always a problem for me but I guess I'm in more control of it now before I began my weight loss journey.

What do you like and/or dislike about your body either before and/or after your weight loss? Before my weight loss, I absolutely hated my boobs. I liked that they were big, but they were TOO big. I cried when I ordered a really cute swimsuit from Victoria's Secret and could not wear it because my boobs would not fit into the biggest sized top. I hated my gut and love handles, and arms. So many things I didn't like. I thought I looked good though - I had confidence. After my weight loss, my boobs have shrunk a lot and I like them much better! My love handles have gone down a lot and my stomach is flatter, which I love. I love my legs now, and my arms aren't so flabby. I dislike that I still have a belly and would like to have some rock hard abs by the time I reach my goal!

Why is weight loss important to you? Weight loss is important to me because I have seen what my mom has gone through in her struggle with being overweight - I've seen her take HerbaLife, I've seen her leave every morning at 6AM to go to the gym to swim laps, I've seen her order all kinds of nutrients and supplements, and go on "cleansing" fasts and having shakes... she's had a breast reduction, a tummy tuck, and she's still overweight. It is important that I don't fall into that trap and have to go through all of that to get my body back. Through it all, my mom has always told me that it's not just about losing weight but being strong! It is so important to be healthy... to be strong and feel strong!

When you reach your goal, how do you plan to keep the weight off? I plan to continue what I'm doing but I probably won't be as strict with my calories. Most importantly I vow to stay active!!!

If you had to give someone advice on how to lose weight effectively, what would you tell them? DON'T GIVE UP! Stick with it, be patient, and it will happen for you. Also my new favorite quote... "A goal without a plan is just a wish." So make a plan! You need to know how you are going to get to where you want to be, otherwise you will just sit back and wait for something that will never happen. And it IS possible. Don't sell yourself short!

Today was good. Unfortunately I have not met the goal of 100 oz. of water! I had only about 65 oz. but I drank the majority of it during my work out class and after while I was eating dinner... I'm wayyyy too full to force the water down! My total calories = 1,330. I did a 15 minute abs class (really great workout!) and an hour step class (even greater workout!!!) so I'm feelin' good! Tomorrow I'm supposed to get my period so I'm not looking forward to the bloating and feeling crappy :( Oh well, that's part of being a woman :)

Gonna watch the Biggest Loser now... goodnight!
~ Sarah

Update: PMS-ing really bad and just ate 2 peanut butter chocolate chip granola bars. Add 200 calories to my total to equal 1,530.

Grrrr :cuss: At least I'm only over on my calories by 80. And tomorrow's workout is run 3 miles, weight training class, abs class, and step class. So I'll be burning a lot of calories for sure! :)

PS - I loved Mike (white team) on Biggest Loser tonight when he had to punch those blocks back and forth. It was crackin me up when he was talking about playing 80's music in his head to get a rhythm! Haha :smilielol5:

Every time I check your diary I am put to shame! HOW do you get time to do like THREE classes a day AND go running AND study??? You're like superwoman or something!!!!!!!

Your thread is officially inspiration for me!! (Great amount of exercise, great food, plus you are already the weight that I ultimately want to reach!)

Enjoy those classes x

Thanks!! Unfortunately, I don't put nearly as much time into school as I do into working out. I wish I focused on school as much as my health but I'm seriously a procrastinator! I only do things until I ABSOLUTELY have to do them! It's terrible :( But I get by :coolgleamA:

Thanks Sarah for stopping by and commenting on my diary post! You are a very good motivator! I haven't had time to read through your diary, but I will in a few days. It looks like you are staying consistent like you said. I know this time I am for real and there is no quitting! Thanks again!

Stephanie on the Biggest Loser last night reminded me so much of you. When they were on the treadmills and she was pushing and encouraging the other girls I thought, That's exactly what Sarah would be like :)

Now go drink some water!!!! ;)

Hey, no problem! I think this website is really going to help you in your weight loss, as long as you stay posted and keep in touch :) It is much easier when you put yourself out there and feel accountable to succeed and share it with others!

Aw :) Thanks! Grr I hate water! Why is it so hard to drink?! I mean come on, I can gulp down 5 beers no problem but I can barely drink 2 bottles of water! Something I wrong here... :willy_nilly:

This morning before the gym I had a piece of string cheese. Started running - did 2 miles on the track in 17:13 :) I had to get off the track (there is a track and field class that starts in the middle of my run and I didn't want to be in their way) so I finished with one more mile on the treadmill running @ 6.5 mph. I got a stitch in my side halfway through that mile but I just squeezed on my side really hard and held it as I ran until it went away! Didn't want to give up!!!

Weight training followed, and I did about 20 minutes of circuit training. Lots of arms work! Then I did 10 minutes on the rowing machine and finished up 10 minutes on the bike. I didn't do any abs because I plan to take the class later which is 15 minutes straight abs workout.

I got my period today but I don't look/feel bloated as of now so I felt good and decided to take measurements since it's been a while! The last time I posted measurements was in November. So here is the update:

SEPTEMBER / NOVEMBER / FEBRUARY
Left thigh (6 inches above knee): 20.75 in / 20 in / 18.5 in = [- 2.25 inches]
Right thigh (6 inches above knee): 21 in / 20 in / 18.5 in = [- 2.5 inches]
Left thigh (upper/below butt): 25 in / 22.5 in / 21.5 in = [- 3.5 inches]
Right thigh (upper/below butt): 25 in / 23 in / 22 in = [- 3 inches]
Waist (belly button): 35 in / 32 in / 29 in = [- 6 inches]
Stomach (1 inch below belly button): 37 in / 33.5 in / 32 in = [- 5 inches]
Chest: 36 in / 34.5 in / 33 in = [- 3 inches]
Left bicep: 12 in / 11.5 in / 10 in = [- 2 inches]
Right bicep: 12 in / 11.5 in / 10 in = [- 2 inches]

Total inches lost = 29.25

WHAT?!?!?!!?!?!!? holy SH*!%^#$ did I add that up wrong? LOL I didn't add that up until I just typed this out... I did not expect that number.... but wow! I'm really proud of myself! I lost almost 30 inches?!?! How did I not see that before!?! I can't believe it..... :willy_nilly:

Well I gotta get some reading and studying in before class.... I'll check back later! OH and today's goal is to go to a workout class, so I plan to do core complete and step later on :)

Wow those measurements are AWESOME Sarah!! Such a tiny waist! I'm totally jealous! We had very similar nights last night it looks! Pretty funny! I wasnt even going to post today because I didn't reach my goal and then I thought about it and decided that would have been silly and then I was a little relieved you didn't either because it made me realize I am human.
I'm so proud of you and those measurements!! Totally cheered me up today!
Keep it up! You already reached your goal today!! I will too!!:hurray:

Thanks Lisa!!! That is too funny that our nights were pretty similar... I didn't want to tell you guys but I thought about how I had already posted my daily calories and felt bad for having that junk right before bed so I just had to come back and confess! LOL

:eek2: Ya, Holy Sh*%! is right!!! So Awesome Sarah!!! Congratulations :hurray::hurray::hurray:

Have you tried putting lemon/lime in your water??

Thank you Marie :) No, I haven't tried that... I think I've put lemon in mine before but I'm not really a fan of the "hint of flavor" in water. I used to drink the Dasani lemon flavored water all the time but just thinking about it now does not appeal to me. I don't know why! Yesterday and today though I filled my water bottle up with sugar free grape flavored mix. I chugged that no problem :D

Whew! What a day! I'm so glad it's over, tomorrow starts my weekend! I did meet todays goal to take a work out class. Step was so intense tonight, my thighs were hurting so bad right from the start, I can't believe I made it the whole hour. I feel really great now though!

You know what grosses me out? The show called Man vs. Food. This guy eats mass amounts of food and has to do it in a certain amount of time or something? How disgusting. Maybe this is why America is so FAT! Eat as much as you can, see how fast you can eat it! How entertaining! NOT.

That's all for now... calories are at 1,485 right now and I'm praying I don't go digging in the closet for some chocolate because you know that's all I want right now!!! :cuss:

Had no reason to stay up late last night but for some reason I did! Well I discovered a website called chatroulette and you just get connected with random people via webcam you can just skip over them if you don't want to talk.... so I sat there for literally like 5 HOURS on this thing! It's so addicting. So by about 11PM my roommate was on this site with me too and we're just having a great time and she decided to have a beer - so I do too. I ended up having 4 and THEN I ate 2 granola bars. GREAT. There goes 600 empty calories :icon_bs: That is what I get for staying up late! The reason I've done so good this week is cuz I've been in bed at a reasonable time!

Well, one night isn't going to kill me, and I'm not sure that I can even expect a loss this week because of my period. I'm just going to do the best I can today and get my "last chance workout" before weigh in tomorrow! Today's goal is to incorporate some interval training into my workout. I'll check back later :)
