i dont know now if i should have a full body workout , 2 day spilt or a 5 day split.

can someone pls tell me which is the most effective way because the videos ive been watching it says to gain muscle mass the best way is to do 5 day split :S is it right or wrong.

how long have you been training? and what are your goals?

new trainees do great on full body workouts for many months, even a year. after that you may need to split to upper/lower routines, and increase teh volume and intensity, but allow more recovery time (usually with an upper/lower split, one week is Upper, lower, upper, then the next week is lower, upper, lower...repeat).

when that gets to be 'not enough' to keep growing, then you start in on your push/pull/legs split...and that eventually leads to 'back day, chest day, arms day, and leg day"....or a 4 day split. By that point, you better look huge though, otherwise its just overtraining.

its a progression. you can't run before you can crawl :)

and also, different people respond differently. some people do full body workouts very long. you CAN also do fullbody 4 times a week ive heard, but not as a newbie ofcource.
ive been doing fullbody 3x a week for a year. though the way i workout now i have to do fullbody, since i work with olympic lifts, its kind of hard to fit those into a split imo.
 
ive been trainning for 3 years , first 2.5 years i didnt know what i was doing but for 6 months ive been bulking and have swtiched from full body to 2 day split. in each of the 2 day workout i workout 3 different muscle group.
but now that ive been watching weigh trainning videos they actually give u a routine which is based on 5 day spilt.
in the video they tell u to workout each muscle group with 5 different exercises.

all i want to know is that if i do switch to 5 day spilt from 2 day split would it take longer to reach my goals as i will only be trainning muscle group once a week?
my goals are to put on atleast 3 inch of muscle on my arms chest, legs then i want a lean body
my arms are 13.5 inches right now so about 17 inch with bf of about 5% would be good for me

5 exercises per body part? wtf videos are you watching? is it off a website you can show a link to, or did you buy them?

either way, they sound like a pro bodybuilder put them out, as it pretty much requires a huge veteran bodybuilder taking steroids to pull off any decent growth with a 5 day split with 5 exercises per bodypart.

but im saying if i do this program and make it so im doing 3 day split, so im working out 2 muscle group per workout with 5 different exercises each would i see gains better or will i start to lose what i got from 2 day split
 
i actually carried out the workout i was talking about , and i have to say that it is verrrrrrrryyyyy verrryyyyyy hard. i had to take of 90% of the weight which i used, so i was trainning with only 10% :(. i was soooooooo tired as well. but my fitness trainer said thats what i should be doing .
