Important Post-W.O. question

I know that it's best to have a protein shake right after working out, and then your first meal about an hour after that. The gym I'm going to has a bar that can make the shake for me. It's got 45g of whey protein in one serving, I believe. However, I recall the guy saying it's about 600 calories due to all of the protein!

On my diet, I only consume 300-330 calories per meal.

What should I do?
 
There is no way its just protein then. It more than likely is loaded with fat and carbs as well.

Go out and buy yourself some Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey and mix that with dextrose for a PWO shake. You want little to no fat consumed at this time.

avoid fat post workout.

And can anyone tell me WHY someone says you should actually wait before you eat after a workout? your muscles needs fuel ASAP, the longer you wait, the smaller the "window" in which the nutrition you eat/drink goes right to your muscles will be.
 
Consume some carbohydrate with the protein (e.g. The banana) Protein helps repair muscle damage but it isnt efficient if the muscle CHO stores havent been replenished.

bananas dont have much protein does it? mostly carbs.
i just take a bottle of chocholate milk with me to the gym and drink that, carbs, cals, protein and low fat milk ofcource.
 
Yeah the banana is all carbohydrate thats what I wrote. Consume some carbohydrate with the protein (example: banana) I dont know how to punctuate that :D

it slows digestion making it harder for protein/carbs to reach the muscles, at a time when it needs it right away.
