Importance of water

I know your body is made up of like 70% of water or somthin; but why cant you get it from otherthings?...whats the difference between drinking pop or gatorade and water?

2 of them do absolutely f*ckall for you.. lol.

water, aids in almost every single function your body carries out in some way. Directly or indirectly.
Digestion, body temp regulation, your kidneys use water to take out waste. etc

The caffeine is soda acts as a diuretic causing increased dilute urination and dehydration. So even though soda is a fluid it is not hydrating like water. Gatorade is hydrating but should not replace water unless you are working out for long durations or are working outdoors in the sun sweating a lot. It is designed to replace electrolytes.
The real thing, water, is obviously best. If you find it hard to drink water because its lack of taste try to lemon in it for a little flavor. Plus the lemon is cleansing for your body.

Dont drink gatorade during your workouts.
drinking anything during your workout will decrease GH release. What good are electrolyes when your IGF-1 production is lessened?

When you first begin lifting, your GH spike is HUGE, you dont want to mess with it. It tappers off as you become more experienced. Drinks like gatorade only really help those individuals who are depleated in aminos and glucose in their blood stream. Those of us who are eating properly (if you are bulking you should fit into this category) do not want it.

There are obviously different schools of thought on this because almost every gym sells truckloads of gatorade.. If you have to drink it fine, just dont drink it DURING your workout.

:)

I've been drinking nothing but water for about the past 2 months. My body wants nothing else now it's weird. And it's room temperature. I used to hate drinking water especially when eating but now it's all i drink.

since your haiving this about drinking water or something else..
what about milk? if u dont care if you gain weight.. since milk has more cals than water and protein?

Ever heard the saying that "water is a universal solvent"? It really is. It is a fundamental part of our lives, our existence. Our body is about 70% water.

With that large % making up our bodies, how would our bodies function without a contant supply of water? Your thought is as good as mine - the same way a vehicle would function without fuel - it just wouldn't function!

The advantages of taking water have already been mention, but I would say this: NOTHING, I mean NOTHING can take the place of water. Not gatorade, not fruit juice, not soft drinks, not coffee. Why? Simple: Most of them contain substances that are not healthy and these substances counter the positive effects of the added water. And most beverages contain dehydrating agents and this reduce your body's water reserve.

So just remember that water is a universal solvent. Whoever takes it generously keeps moving smoothly, whoever doesn't gradually grinds to a hault.

what about propel by gatorade? it's pretty much just water pumped full of nutrients is it not? wouldn't this be better...
