I'm slim on the inside!

Fat Suit Going!

New member
Hi there,
I joined the forum yesterday and I'm hooked already!
I am embarking on the last weight loss journey of my life and thought I would document my travels for posterity, as it won't be happening again!
I'm 33, and since my memory was formed, I have always been overweight. I was first put on a diet before the age of 8. During the following 25 years I have tried most things, with varying success. But this time is different. This time I know what is wrong and I have the tools to fix it. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome 4 weeks ago. After lots of research on the net I discovered Cohens Lifestyle Clinics. Dr Cohen developed this eating plan for people with infertility problems, caused by PCOS. Loosing weight helps the symptoms of PCOS but due to insulin resistance it is not always that easy. Cohens eating plan resolves some of those issues by stablising blood sugar level.
Im really excited that the real me, the one I knew was there the whole time, is going to be on show to everybody soon!
I started Cohens 2 weeks ago and so far so good. Ok I have turned into a hermit, for fear of breaking the rules but I'm focused and there is nothing wrong with that! I figure weight loss is a choice, and I'm choosing to do it! I got to this weight by making the wrong choices and now I'm going to make the right choices. If I feel deprived of anything I shall remind myself that I have probably consumed enough of it in my lifetime already!
Well thats enough of my ramble for tonight. I shall be in touch soon.....
PS I have a big day tomorrow...a first date which is going to involve eating out for the first time since the start of the program. Not sure which Im more nervous about the 'first date' or eating out!

3 weeks completed

What can I say...
I'm at the end of 3 weeks on Cohens and I feel like a new woman already!
I have really noticed a difference in my body shape and my work clothes are starting to look silly because they are too big! I don't want to buy any new clothes at the moment because they wont fit for long either! It has been really fun searching through my bag of old clothes that I can't fit into which I now find that I can. I have picked out items that I reckon in a week or so will be the right size.
I went for a weigh in yesterday because I couldn't wait another week. Ive lost 7kg already, I am so excited! And I'm planning the next 7kg. So I should be on track for my birthday in November to have completed my refeed. Its good to have goals!
On the date front...well Ive eaten out twice. It hasn't gone too badly (the eating out and the dates!!) I find restaurants will be very accommodating. But a big tip, call ahead and they will get the right food in. On a busy night everything is preprepared so they cant take the butter out of the cabbage! But if you have called ahead it is already made separate for you and there is not the big drama of looking really awkward when you are ordering. My date hasn't thought I'm too strange, and thankfully doesn't feel awkward about eating his larger portions in front of me! Actually he is rather interested in what I'm doing so all good :)
I have been warned I'm entering a danger zone...weeks 4 - 6. A time when things are going so well that you feel you may be able to slack off a bit....the words of advice DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE PLAN!!!! So I shall keep that firmly in mind. And to be honest the thought of deviating and delaying the weight loss for a week is a huge motivation to stick on track. Thats a 1.5 - 2kg set back. The sooner I can get to refeed the better!
So I am a happy bunny, 7kg down, 17.5kg to go. The lowest I have being in my living memory is 68.6kg for a brief period in October 2004. And that is only 10kg away.
I'm going back home to the UK for Christmas, I can't wait to surprise my family and friends...as I'm not telling them what I'm doing. That will be great, I've always been the FAT ONE, ha...not any more!!!!
Well thats all for now......let's see what the scales say at Week 4!

Hi there,

just dropping in to read a few journals and decided to write a little. First off, you're doing amazingly well. 7kgs? Awesome! Also, good on you for taking the time to plan out your meals at restaurants. Hmmmm... I'll have to try that some time. With my luck, they'd probably spit in my food for being a pain in the arse. Ha! (I live in NY.) jk :D

You're going to achieve your goal if you keep that fantastic (positive)attitude! Wishing you the best!

-Sheryl

Hey MsGhettoBooty,
Thanks for stopping by, and for your words of support and encouragement! You are doing fantastically well too, what 'plan' are you doing and when did you start?
Yes there is always that concern with being a fussy orderer! Sometimes a bit of spit can be the least of a customers worries if you believe all you hear!!! (if you know what I mean ;)) Perhaps best to utilise a few of our feminine ways with the male waiter to make sure the order is a favourable one!!! LOL
Keep up the good work. I love this forum thing, I guess you don't feel so alone and ashamed with the weight issue but most of all supported, understood and meeting people from all over the world!
Life is great! :)
Sara

Hey Sara,

thanks a lot for dropping into my journal and leaving such a wonderful post. It really made my morning. :) As for my "plan," ummm... I'm on the "Sheryl doesn't like to starve plan." hahaa I'll have to agree with you inregards to this forum. It's amazing at the amount of support is on here. I'll have to check in with you when week4 comes around. I'm sure you're going to reach your goal.

As for the Christmas suprise, I'm trying to do the same with my family in Hawaii! hahaaa Except, I'm trying to be sneaky and only letting my baby sisters know that I'll be flying in then suddenly show up at the door to make my mom and dad cry. hahaaa! It's sick, but it makes me giggle and so excited at the idea! haha Wishing you the best....

-Sheryl

Hey MGB, I love the Christmas surprise idea! I bet you can't wait to see your families faces. Have you just told your sisters your coming home, and not told them about your lifestyle change?
You go girl!

haha... Actually the baby of 4 girls is very much aware of my progress. We send camera phone pictures back and forth. haha The 2nd is aware of me trying to take care of myself, but is not allowed to see photos of myself. (The baby sister's just being a brat and giving her a hard time by not allowing her to view my pix. haha!) My main reason for doing so is hoping it will somehow influence my father and mother to take care of themselves also. (overweight, diabetes, kidney diseases, hypertension, etc etc etc) Maybe I'm just wish for thinking, but I'm going to try whatever I can do to help them.

Well, Sara.. just wanted to drop in hoping you had a wonderful weekend and things are going well for you and your program. :) I'll keep popping in to read your journal.

-Sheryl

4 weeks completed!

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't been around much, but I have been reading everybodies news with interest! Well done to everyones progress, sticking with it and those who have made the decision to start!
I have to say I was somewhat sceptical at the beginning but was desparate to try anything, and the Cohens plan did make sense. Fortunately I was in 'the zone' which is the main thing for me to be able to follow a plan.
So after 4 weeks I have banished 9 kg / 19.84 lbs! :rotflmao:
I am soooooooo happy and an feeling so much better about myself. It has given me the incentive for another month!
I feel really lucky that I have only been hungry a few times, and then not even to the extent of feeling that my stomach is eating itself. I have stuck to the plan completely bar eating 2 extra mushrooms on one day and 15g veg on another by accident! I have also eaten out 3 times in 4 weeks without too much trouble.
I have still been exercising, because without it I am miserable but have cut back to about 3-4 hours a week instead of 6 hours plus. It doesn't seem to make me hungrier or lightheaded, and as a bonus I get nice comments when I'm there! People have joined up to boot camp which I was doing to get the same results I have, I didn't tell them about the Cohen's bit though!
So all in all I'm very pleased. Still a way to go but thats OK, I've been carrying the extra weight for years, to banish in in months seems like a fair amount of time to wait. And during that time I'm learning how to maintain it for LIFE. If the weight disappeared overnight the satisfaction would not be half as great! :jump:
So I'm on target for my birthday to have the refeed completed, and to be looking foxy when I go home to see my family in December! Yippee.
Funny story last night...On my way home there was a random breath test being done. The Police officer said 'Have you had anything to drink tonight?'
I said 'I havn't had anything for a month now so you'll be lucky to find anything!' hehehe
keep up the good work everyone and thanks for dropping by.
Sara
PS Does anyone know any nice single boys who want to date a soon to be slim girl!!!! Hahaha

Thanks for dropping by

Wow Sara!!!! Almost 20 lbs in 4 weeks??? I am SOOO proud of you!:hug2: Keep it up, because you're going to be even foxier for your birthday, girlfriend. :) When Christmas comes around, we'll both have to post our pix so we can brag like crazy at how sexy we are, ok? hahaa You're doing so well, girl. You're freakin' amazing!

-Sheryl

PS You have just earned the name "Shrinking Sara"... hahaaa!

Hi Sara,

First off I love your name: Fat Suit Going! I have felt for soo long when I look in the mirror (on the rare occasion that I do) that I am in a suit and I just want to unzip it and rip it off.

Congrats on your progress so far you are doing amazingly well. You are going to look wonderful for your birthday and will stun your family for christmas.
Keep up your amazing work!

~Jenna

P.S... You're cop story is hysterical I havn't had any alcohol since before June 1st I can hardly believe it LOL :D

Week 5 done!

Well I have now finished week 5 on Cohens. I have resisted the temptation to hit the scales, as I know I'm retaining water due to time of the month and it will get me down if the scales don't say what I want!...and I don't want to getdown when everything is going so well.
I did a naughty thing yesterday and did a 12km run. I know on Cohens, excessive exercise if frowned upon, but I really felt I would have let myself down if I didn't do it. I have been thinking about it for 3 years!
I had an extra egg for breakfast and 200g of steak instead of 120g, so have probably set myself back, but it it was important for me to do it.
My body is aching and Ive strained my knee, but Im happy to have completed 12km in 81 mins.
Im very tired too...so Im off to sleep!
Can't wait to check on my progress after my girls business is sorted out!

Honestly, Sara, I really am so proud of you for doing the 12km run. Personally, I can't run to save my soul. (Well that is unless there was a stampede of bulls. Then you'd see my ass sprinting like Flo-Jo. haha) As for the egg and steak.. heck that's much needed protein after a hard workout. Make sure to stretch out your muscles.. take it easy for a few days. As for the weigh in, don't let the numbers on a scale put you down for a single second. Reason being: look at the amazing accomplishments you have achieved so far. You've lost a tremendous amount of weight. You freaking ran a 12km in 81 minutes, girl!! You're making THINGS happen, Sara. The number on the scale is just that: only a number. Don't be suckered in by it's mindf$ck of a game. You deserve to be happy and proud. :D

-Sheryl :hug2:

Hey Sara,
Just thought I'd pop into your journal and check it out.

You have done sooo well! 12k run! Damn! If I did a 12k walk I'd be feeling it. That is something to be proud of.

Glad to hear your dates have been going well. Tell us about his guy..lol

And you are from the UK? Your Queensland location made me think you were an Aussie. Where in the UK are you from?

You will knock them dead at Christmas! Well, not dead, hopefully, just unconscious..lol:rotflmao:

Your iron will and determination is inspiring.

Picture as promised for MGB. Not the best, I think I need to work on some poses for the Christmas Calender!!
:rotflmao:
But it can't have been too bad, have a lunch date arranged for today with a guy I met last night:eek:
Was very controlled and had no alcohol but did eat cheese and pineapple which is sooooo not on the list of allowed foods, but I did turn down sausage rolls and crisps.

See above! This new one seems like a cutie...I have to remember kindness does not equal weakness. Life with self esteem issues has set me up for falls, ie because I haven't loved myself I could never really understand anybody else loving me and therefore assume there must be something wrong with them. Learning slowly!

And you are from the UK? Your Queensland location made me think you were an Aussie. Where in the UK are you from?
I emmigrated to Oz 3.5 years ago, but born and bred in the UK. My family are from north west England, but I call London home.

You will knock them dead at Christmas! Well, not dead, hopefully, just unconscious..lol:rotflmao:
Humm..even unconscious could cause a few problems! I so want them to be blown away, no more Fat Sara!

Your iron will and determination is inspiring.
Thanks, it really helps having all of you guys for support, :)

Expressions of Interest?

Miss GhettoBooty (aka ASZCRAC most wanted)
Do you think we should open up the Christmad calander to all the other guys and gals?
Im sure we could use a model in a 'bikini' for a start?!

If you want to pose with 'your new friend' (if he hasn't been removed from your custody) we might need to produce 2 calanders, one for regular viewers and the XXX version! :eek2:

As long as I get to be Ms November!

Anything involving Sheryl and her friend must go in a XXX version!!! That just can not be seen by innocent virgin eyes:rotflmao:
