If not now, when?

Welcome to my journey! I have entirely too many excuses, and we all know that complaining does not burn calories. I plan on posting here no less than once a week, but most likely once a day. I am a student and a mother though, so my weeks tend to get hectic. If you are curious, my previous journals are here and here, and my previous photos are here. Albeit, I am done living in the past. I need to focus on now. If not now, when? Thank you for stopping by!

06/13/14: Day 1

Though controversial, I am supplementing my meals by juicing for the first few days of my journey. I do plan on implementing this in to my regular routine, in some manner. My original plan was to juice fast for 3 to 5 days, then I got cocky thinking I could maybe do it for 7 days. I ended up eating one solid healthy meal today and I am debating whether to continue do that over the course of the next 3, 5, or 7 days. Thursday I weighed 340lbs, tonight I weighed 335.8lbs. I do not intend on weighing myself daily, but I may for the first few weeks. I was not checking to see if I lost weight but more checking to see if I still knew my start weight.

I woke up late at like 1:00 P.M. Though, I did juice 2 celery stalks, some kale, spinach, and 2 green apples. That took me 2 hours to drink, and I was fine until 6:00 P.M. At that point I was out and about and grabbed a sub from Jimmy John's. I got a little carried away with their 998 calorie sub sandwich, but I figured it was not THAT bad considering my other options and what I had already had consumed. It's not like I went to McDonalds... which I wanted to do so badly around 10:00 P.M. Anyway, then I juiced watermelon (big mess, probably not doing that again), and added some lemon juice to it. I only drank about 1/4 of it. That's all I had. The calories were roughly 1250. I also drank 24 ounces of water - I really need to work on my water consumption.

Thanks Gingerjv! :) I am still trying to learn what foods are "bad" and need to be avoided because of intolerance's.

Today, I woke up late too (it's the 5:00 A.M. mornings). I had another 1/4 of my watermelon/lemon juice this afternoon. I went for a 3.82 mile walk (burning 1378 kcal, according to ). I left around 1:45 P.M. and got home at 4:00 P.M. So, 2 hours and 15 minutes. Then around 5:00 P.M. I was starving so I went to the salad bar at Sizzler. I had 1 1/2 servings of clam chowder, cheese toast, 3 chicken wingettes (breading and skin removed) and a plateful of salad with ranch dressing on the side. I dipped my fork in to the dressing every other bite or so (I learned to do that when I was pregnant, it is a good trick!). The salad consisted of spring mix, mushrooms, black olives, peas, red onions, beets, and one broccoli floret. I also had 1/4 of a cup of chocolate pudding. I pulled the nutrition sheet up for Sizzler when I got home and my one meal today was 1089.5 kcal. Adding my watermelon to that is about 46 more calories. So, 1135 kcal. If I drink the rest of my watermelon juice, it will be 1227.5 kcal. I also drank 24 ounces of water and will be drinking more throughout the night, since I am going to be up all night doing my homework, again.

I have decided that I am going to continue this tomorrow, but I am going to cook it prior to my walk, so when I get home I do not have to cook. I have not decided if I am doing a 3.82 mile walk again or if I am going to try a different route that would be 7.06 miles. I think I would rather deal with the extra miles and less traffic. The routes are on back roads, but the 7 mile route has less people driving by, even though the 3.8 mile one has little traffic compared to main roads. I like the way this is going thus far, but I am also trying not to burn myself out at the same time. However, on Monday I will be doing what I plan to be my normal routine of the 1500-1800 calories, 2 healthy meals and juicing my lunch. My breakfast is going to be my larger meal consisting of fruits, veggies, and protein (including lactose free dairy) (to prepare me for the day) and dinner my smaller meal, which may or may not consist of a grain (I am trying to limit my types of grains, to determine an intolerance), but will consist of protein and veggies. The reason I am juicing is because I otherwise would not eat the fruit and veggies I am consuming.

Open face caprese sandwich (mozzarella, tomato, pesto). 800 kcal (only because I ate two servings of mozzarella while making it). Total: 1925.5 kcal. I did not drink the rest of my watermelon juice. I am not overly disappointed. I tried really hard to just go to sleep at 10:00 P.M. and not worry about how hungry I felt, drank some more water. Though, that did not work. I do not consider this a mess up or a fall back or anything like that. Tomorrow I will do the one meal thing and juice. I am considering a shorter walk instead of those long ones previously mentioned because I am in a lot of pain right now, maybe in the morning I will be in less pain. I also do not like eating so late at night, so I am going to bed shortly in hopes of waking up sooner, so I do not have a repeat of today. I am not feeling well after eating that though, because I did have too much cheese (and cheese and milk earlier today) and I have had more bread then I probably should have. I am lactose intolerant and because of that I cannot have a lot of moist cheeses (one serving is typically fine of low fat cheese, like mozzarella, but I had 5), or breads with certain things in them. I am also intolerant to artificial sweeteners (which is used in a lot of things too). I am pretty certain that is linked to my lactose intolerance though. I am still learning about what I can and cannot eat. I can usually have one or two servings of certain types of dairies with lactose in them and be fine, usually mozzarella.

I am not making any excuses. I have had a rough last two days though. My kitchen is basically unusable due to water damage from the hot water heater going. Sunday I had 2 mcchickens 1/2 bun, no mayo. 520kcal. Then I had a roast beef sandwich, chips, mac salad and a few bites of my sons bread pudding. Totaling about 1600 kcal. Today I made a huge mistake! I went to Applebees without checking the nutritional facts first! 2500 kcal later... I also had a can of coke and a slice of peperoni pizza earlier in the day. Totaling a whopping 3000 calories. I should not gain any weight, since it is still a few hundred calories lower than maintenance, but I am so angry with myself for not realizing that their food had so many flipping calories! For the rest of the day I am going to drink TONS of water. Tomorrow is a new day. I am going to see what I can prep in my barely kitchen tonight before I go to bed. I feel like a failure, but I will succeed! I cannot fail this time, especially so close to the beginning.
