If at first you don’t succeed

Well this would be my umpteenth time trying to lose weight, a lot of those times I have come back here only to leave after a few days and not come back for 6 months or so But I’m determined to stick to my journal /diet/exercise/and no smoking for the next 2 weeks. I think I can stick to anything for 2 weeks so if I keep repeating those 2 weeks for the rest of the year it should work out good.

Well wishes to all for the new year, I hope you complete your goals and get to set new ones.

Hello rosered, and welcome (back?) to the forum. Given you've been here before, you know that there are alot of encouraging people here who will help you along the way...at the end of the day though, it's you who must do the work. Losing weight is hard...it's both physical and mental. You mention quitting smoking...I don't want to sound like a balloon buster, but you might be taking on too much at 1 time...it might be why you've come and gone in the past...it's not my business...I'll help you in any way I can...I'm just not sure I could take on the world all in one fell swoop!

I would suggest that you set some goals and write them down (either here, or to yourself..but do write them, don't just think them...there is a magic in pen and ink that I can't explain, but I've witnessed). Then commit to posting on here every day...good days, bad days, normal days etc...make a routine out of it and let us help you...we can't help (and you can't help us) if we don't hear from you!

Looking forward to hearing from you along the way, and may this be your firm decision to stay with us...we need you whether you need us at all...remember that when your mind tells you you don't want to post!

Hi Sarah thanks for dropping in on me. You are right losing weight is hard but I’m sure I will do it again. I know it sounds like I’m taking a lot on but really most of it revolves around weight loss anyway like exercise/journal and diet. I have lost the weight before then I gave up smoking and guess what in the end I started smoking again and put the whole 45 kg back on so I’m going to give it a go at fixing both of them at the same time and see how I go. I’m sure with your support and help I will be one smoke free sexy mamma by the end of this year; Thanks for popping in on me (have a wonderful day).

Well the rest of yesterday was a mess and today wasen't much better. oh well tomorrow is another day.... joining a gym and even have my first class at 9.30 am booked.

Good decision on the gym rosered! Put the "bad days" behind you and get your chin and attitude up and go for it!

Thanks Sarah for taking the time to drop in on me again.

I did a beginners yoga class yesterday and really enjoyed it, today I’m off to a body pump class (please have a coffin ready) and tomorrow there is an aqua class (if I can still move and function after the body pump class).

My food choices are still not the best but I’m getting there.

Hi Rosered, I bet a water class will be soothing after the body bump class, nothing like swimming to ease muscle pain.

Sarah thank you for your encouragement :hug2:

Oldschool, you could have warned me about the muscle pain before I did the class ;)

OMG Body Pump should come with its own freaking warning label.... I did enjoy it even though I wasn’t that good at it and the instructor did think I was going to drop dead on her lol.

I am pretty chuffed with myself that I have gone 2 days in a row and I haven’t let the whole thing intimidate me. I’m looking forward to the swimming classes tomorrow; I love trying new things all the time it keeps it interesting.

Hey, just read your first post there and I'm kinda of the same... I pop in here when I say I'll lose weight and disappear after a few days, but this time I've promised my self I'll stick to it! Also, I quit smoking about 4 weeks ago so I know what its like, and I have to say it does NOT reduce your ability to lose weight so happy days! any way good luck in journey :)

Hi Diamondapple,

Omg giving up smoking is soooooo hard. I have been smoking since I was about 11 years old (I am 42 now almost 43) and I was smoking over 50 a day. I can be sitting here at the computer or just sitting down talking to someone or watching TV and still go to grab a smoke. Even though I go to have one I think it is mostly the action I’m addicted to not the smoking itself so much anymore. I went to a hypnotist and she was great. She has helped me with a lot more than just giving up smoking.

OK so for dinner last night I had MacDonald’s yep more crap but I thought instead of just saying I had a crappy day with food I have decided to put it all out there I’m sure it will help.

Well I was going to go to aqua classes this morning but I have no swimmers (WTF was I thinking) I haven’t been swimming in years so of course I don’t have swimmers, so I’m off to the shops this morning to fix that and get some better gym gear. I thought while I was out I would get my nails done today.

Breakfast

2 slices multigrain toast with vegemite

1 cup tea low fat milk no sugar

2 coffees low fat milk no sugar

Hey Rosered! I've never smoked, so I can't get you any personal thoughts at all on quitting smoking...my husband did quit and he told me it was harder than anything he has ever done...thankfully he stayed "stopped" and hasn't had a cigarette in over 30 years.. He often had a toothpick or something in his mouth to chew on more to occupy his hands and mouth than anything I think.

For you eating, I would suggest that you take the time to write out a plan...a plan for eating and a plan for exercising...doesn't have to be complicated...as a matter of fact, the simpler (not easy, mind you!) the better! Then stick to the plan..no matter what! I'd like to tell you I did that back in June 11...truth is I didn't...my plan started in my head and out of shame and guilt, I stuck to it...it did eventually get written down and now it's my guide...so my thoughts to you come from more of a "something I wish I would have done earlier" category. Take what you like...leave the rest...that's the great thing about this forum...you're not obligated to do anything we say...then again, you get what you pay for too!!

Good luck and take a good brisk walk today..you'll feel better for it!

Sarah

Hey guys,

Sorry it’s been a few days but I have been moving my fat arse.

Thanks for the advice SCB that’s just what I have been doing, I have been looking through recipes and working out my menu for the week.

LOL Oldschool, I have been good I promise no back alley smoking ... 17 days and counting.

Success thank you for the support, it helps allot.

So I have been really really good. I have been working on getting myself together and setting myself up for success not failure.

I have been doing allot better with my diet. I found this magic little calorie app for my phone that has been a huge help, It is so easy to use (and believe me it has to be for me to use it).

I have been going to the gym almost every day. On Monday I am going to see a personal trainer and she is going to set me up with a routine to get me on the right track to weight loss and fitness.

I went shopping last night to get some more gym gear a yoga mat and some swimmers... (OMG what a mission that was). The thought of me in a swimming costume is not pritty but everyone will just have to suffer for a while lol.

My youngest daughter asked me to go on holidays with her to Daydream island ...so I thought about it for ohhhh.... 1 second and said I would love to lol. We are going early February, I have had a look and they have a gym so I will make sure I use it. I will just let you know in advance my alcohol consumption for that week will be allot.

My mission for the rest of this week and next week is to get on top of my house work. My walls needed cleaning before Christmas so I think it’s time to get them done and I want to sort out and get rid of everything I don’t want or use and give the house a fresh look. So room by room is my motto for this fortnight.

Well I have my grandson today and he is into everything so I have to go.

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY

Hi rosered & thanks for visiting my diary. It would have been easy to skip a page as I'm particularly "chatty" at the moment after having been ill for a few weeks. I've been making up for lost time! Well done you on re-committing to a healthy lifestyle!! What app are you using for counting calories? I love My Fitness pal & have now clocked on 95 days straight. It's excellent. All the best. What part of Aus are you in? Cheers, Cate

Honestly cate I felt like a bit of a Dick :blush5: and all I have in my defence was my grandson was running around lol.Its wonderful to hear you are feeling better, nothing worse than when you are feeling off it takes so much more effort to get everything rolling in the right direction. I am using... my net diary... and it’s really good for me. I may have to change it though because I have been doing everything in calories not kJ and its hard sometime to get the conversions. Wow 95 days * go you*that a wonderful commitment. I live on the Gold Coast, we have been here about 18 years now, and my home town is in N.S.W.

I had a good day yesterday media room clean and finished.

15 Minutes on the bike ... would have been longer but we got kicked out because it was closing

Food was

Breakfast

2 slices mg bread

When I got home from the gym my girlfriend was over and we had a few drinks
