IAmFire's Diary

Morning all,

I'm in major plateau mode. That's the bad news.

The good news is that it doesn't bother me enough for me to derail my efforts!

I'm still souping it up and drinking me wahwah and eating fruit when cravings seize me....and even getting to the gym/doing Taebo at night as well. I did discover that if I worked out before going to bed, well, I didn't get to bed easily; it took 2 hours for me to fall asleep. This is the second time in two tries this happened, so I learned my lessons - Exercising is for the morning/afternoon and that's it!.

And that's my update.

Hi all,

Well! Today is Week5 of my get healthy lifestyle change. I'm still at 157 pounds but I've lost another inch on my waist - I'm now 40-38-39. So it's still working and working well!

Hi everyone,

Right now, I'm on week 6.5 of my get healthy lifestyle, and I've lost a total of 13 pounds so far. I'm not following any official diet plan - I'm simply ensuring my calorie intake is around 1400 or so, eating better, and exercising daily.

My exercise routine nowadays is the following:

Each day go to the gym. M/Th is bash-the-body day (ie, work out with free weights). T/W/F is cardio day - I'll do 42 minutes on the elliptical with power bursts while watching The History Channel.

In the afternoons, I'll do some sort of exercise tape. Right now, my favorites are Billy Blanks Taebo (Get Ripped II Advanced is the most challenging for me) and Richard Simmons (Disco Sweat and Sweatin to the Oldies 3 are tons of fun!).

Measurements wise, my last showed me to be
39-34-39 so things are definitely changing.

And that's me update for now.

Morning!

Well! 7 weeks after starting my get-healthy lifestyle, here's my stats:

14 pounds lost
measurements - 40-34-40 .

I gained an inch top and bottom over this week - I think it might be because of my weight lifting. Since it's not my middle, I'm quite fine with that! :)

And that's me for today,

Howdy,

Well! It's been week 8 give or take, and I've lost 15 pounds in total - measurements are 41-34-37. I think I've gained quite a lot of muscle on my upper body.

And the lifestyle goes on! :)

Morning,

You know, plateaus are quite an adventure in weight loss and overall health gain.

I've been on my new healthy lifestyle now for 8 weeks and have discovered some really good things about the process. One is how to view plateaus - I like to think my body is taking a breather and gearing up for the next weight drop. After all, if one is climbing mountains of stairs, after 3 or 4 floors one might choose to rest for a bit, right?

Thus, it really is a lifestyle change. I've trained myself to view exercise as not something I "need" to do but as something I "want" to do. It's like taking a hot bath - I might not need it but boy I sure enjoy it and the aftermath. By combining the two (hot bath after exercising), I have changed the "need" to a "want" and an "enjoyment."

It's all mental, really.

I should write an ebook about my journey. :)

Howdy!

Today is week 9 of my get-healthy lifestyle and I think (think think think!) I've finally broken thru my weight loss plateau. It's not the time for my usual weighing, however, so I'll post that later.

Since I always like experimenting on myself, I've tried low-carbing these past few days to shock my body into passing thru the plateau. My current plan is to keep in this mode for the next week, and then reintroduce my fruits back into my diet.

I also came across some resources of apple cider vinegar for weight loss - it might be a placebo effect, but I've been adding a tablespoon of that three times a day as well. I mix it into a 15 ounce cup of vanilla whey and orange-flavored citricel - tastes rather good I have to admit.

And that's me update,

I did my weigh-in and check!

I'm now 152, lost a total of 16 pounds, and measurements are:

40-34-39

Week 9 I've just finished. An adventure...definitely. :)

Hi all,

It's been 10.3 weeks or so, and I've been bouncing around 150. I'm pretty confident that I'll see a decrease this week; for the past 3 days the scale has been tilting slightly less than 150. :)

And the saga continues,

11 weeks have passed!

And I'm still holding steady at 150!

But! My measurements have gone down again - I'm now 39-33.5-39.

And life marches on! :)

Finally!

Finally, after 4 weeks of being either steady at 150 or bouncing up to 153....I'm down to 148.

4 days ago, I decided to try the Atkins induction, and apparently that was enough to kickstart my body into weight loss again. I'm also consuming more coconut oil as well (love the taste of that stuff).

Today is week 13 of my gethealthy lifestyle!

I just wanted to come in and say hi! Is 148 your End Goal Weight? You've done a really amazing job in just a few months! I really admire that. Cos it seems to me that the weight range you're in, would've been really hard to lose that weight cos it's not like you were terribly overweight or anything. I would kill to be 150 right now! haha Well, keep up the good work and good luck!

Hi there,

Ooops - typo on my signature. Nope, my goal is 135 pounds - I have 13 more pounds to lose. Thanks for asking!

Morning all,

Let's see...I'm in the middle of .... week 17? of my get-healthy lifestyle. Here's me update!

I was stalled at 148/150 for the entire month of March. Then I decided to try the Atkins diet, and went down to 148 and then stalled there! Over the weekend, I tried a fat-fast diet of 3 days and today, I'm now 146 and back to simply eating healthy.

I've been reading some threads about high fat diets - things like and I have to admit, what is written does certainly seem to make sense. So I'm ever upwards and onwards!

Measurement-wise, I'm now 38-31-38.5 - much better than what I had started out with! :)

Morning,

It's been awhile since I last updated. I was on a plateau for many months, and only in the last two weeks, it seems, have lost again. I'm now 36-30.5-37 and weight 142 pounds.

Let's see now....it's been just about 20 weeks that I've been on my new lifestyle change. Funny thing - I lost the first 15 pounds or so within 2 months but wow, getting the rest off has been quite a hero's journey.

What I heard turned out to be correct - my body was very happy at 148 for ever so long and then whoosh! These last two weeks have seen 6 pounds come off. The only change I can see is for the last 4 weeks, I've been eating only when hungry; skipping breakfast or lunch etc.

And that's me today,

iaf

Morning

Just posted this in the Harsh Truth:

Morning everyone,

I've been on my new lifestyle change since 12/16 and as of two weeks ago, I was down from 168 to 141. Then I took my family to NC for a weeklong trip.

During that time, I chose to be seduced by Krispy Kreme donuts, basil pasta dishes and other utterly delicious-but-really-unwise food choices. I don't regret that, mind you - I'm confident enough of recovering that I can allow myself a twice-a-year cheat.

Anywhos, during this week I didn't get much exercise in (although I was able to arm-curl 30 pound weights at Walmart on afternoon).

Upon returning 3 days ago, I found I was 145, a gain of 3 pounds, so I had thought. No indeed!

Yesterday I had lost a pound to 144 and went to my local gym to do my bash-the-body weight lifting workout (free weights, cybex, etc.). Gosh that felt great - it was 'way too long to go without lifting!!

And last night, get this, I weighed 149 pounds...and this morning, it's 147. I have a net gain of 3 pounds from my weight lifting! I ate completely on course (soup, beef, etc.) with no cheats and also drank plenty of water to boot).

So my question is....did the 3 pound weight gain truly come from weight lifting? Or might something else have affected it?

I had restarted my good eating 3 days ago on Sunday.

I'm not depressed by this at all - I have enough data from the past 6 months to know I'll return back to my 141 in the future. But I certainly am curious about how that weight popped up.

Thanks!

Morning,

Well, this is really interesting! My scale is definitely broken. I weigh 144 at the gym....and 154 at home, so methinks I will simply focus on inches instead of pounds.

Right now, I'm 37-30.5-37, which is a gain of an inch on top (the right place! :) ).

And life meanders on,

iaf

Weird

Morning,

It turns out, the scale *Wasn't* broken. Doctor's scales need calibration. :)

Now, here's the weird thing. I'm now 38-30-36. Gained on my top, lost everywhere else...and woke up to 146 instead of 144!

I could choose this to be frustrating, especially because yesterday I did the elliptical for 45 minutes with modified HIIT, and also did several hours of karate. Ate well too!

I guess it just must be 'one of those things'. So I'll keep moving on and seeing how things change.

One month later...

Morning everyone,

It's been 6 weeks since I've last posted - I've lost an additional 7 pounds and am now 137. Things are going well!

Measurements - 36-30-36

I've been eating well, exercising, weight lifting and karate - hopefully I'll continue in the right direction!
