I was 11.5 BF 2 weeks ago and now I'm 14.7! HELP BEFORE I MESS UP EVEN MORE!

Ok so I'm pretty damn pissed off right now, about 2 weeks ago I was 11.5 percent BF, using one of those electronic BF calculators at the gym so it's pretty accurate I believe.
Now 2 weeks on after going to the gym 4 days last week and 4 days the week before, each time for at least 1 hour 20 minutes AND eating healthily (or so I thought)
I AM FATTER... 14.7% BF to be exact.
I know Malkore says BMI is useless but I think it may be in this case as I was 20.5 before and I'm 20.7 now.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

I'm Vegetarian, I never have fizzy drinks, never have crisps or chips or any junk food YET I've gained weight, and I feel fatter.

Please help me out people.
Now there is nothing wrong with being 14.7 so no offense to the ppl out there, but I just feel like my effort has just gone down the drain.

The only thing I can think could be the reason of this could be the fact I've had a LOT of eggs recently, partly because I thought they were low calorie but maybe that has backfired.

Please help before I mess things up even more, I'm currently looking for a super low fat food I can have loads of without gaining weight because it seems I MUST be eating too much.

electronic scales that measure BF is CRAP, back when i had a decent six pack going on i had over 20% BF according to one of those scales. Can you see that you have gained more fat? Also, have you gained any weight?

I've gained at least 2 pounds, I feel fatter , maybe because muscle is building up underneath my fat............ or MAYBE because I've gained fat.

To be honest I truly don't see what I can do to rectify this, Eggs supposedly eat up their own calories (whatever that means I don't know but it sounds good) so I've been eating, eggs, lots of eggs and a big fruit salad here and there, fresh organic bread, green tea, juice and 3 times have had home made bean type burger things which in themselve arn't unhealthy but are fried.
Does that sound like a bad diet to you?
I am more than pissed off at this, it doesn't make logical sense to me......
I am not going to give up but at this moment I don't know what good I am doing that I would be giving up!!
I recently went to India and I didn't eat much as I became ill at some points so I lost alot of weight, so I guess I just need to eat less.
?

2 pounds over 2 weeks, thats a bit of fat id say, doubt its from 11 to 14 though. And its more about how much you eat than what you eat. You can get fat eating salat leaves if you eat enough of it. If you feel your getting too fat, keep exercising and eat a bit less overall.

BTW are you lifting weights, or just doing cardio and stuff?

You have not risen 3% bf from 2lbs. Although if that isn't muscle then you made need to review your diet. Calm down, take an accurate measure of your bf and then take it from there.

I was just thinking and last time I got my BF checked a different lady did it and I wasn't certain of my height, so she measured me (with my gym shoes on) and didn't mention how tall I was but did the measurement, typed it into the handheld thing and it read 11.5 percent BF, this time I simply told the (different) lady I was roughly 5ft 10 which is correct without any shoes on and it read 14.7BF
SO,
Is it possible that the different height would of made THAT much difference?
(considering I don't know how high the 11.5 percent lady read my height as)
Don't just tell me what I want to hear though.

Thing is Karky, I feel slightly BIGGER, but have just been ruling that down to possibly being muscle.

Also, Karky, I do 30 minutes on the X Trainer, 10 minutes on the Rower and then the rest of the time doing weights and crunches.

Thanks alot for calming me down Karky and Woodt, I don't usually get like this, but it's just recently I've felt so much more healthy since India, so this has came as quite a shock to me...
I probably won't eat anymore today though, I still feel I've failed myself, sleeping may help that. :(

What possibly happened was this:
She got your height out by around 3 inches. Maybe. You gained a few pounds of fat somehow. So it came out as 14.5. Just start over. Get an accurate reading and improve. 2 months time this will just be a thing of the past.

using one of those electronic BF calculators at the gym so it's pretty accurate I believe.

well there's your first mistake...no, those are not reliable at all really. You can shift 2% bodyfat in 12 hours just by drinking (or not drinking) enough water.

use a skinfold test, done by someone that knows what they are doing, for a more accurate test.

or just look in the mirror.

I always thought those BF calculators at the gym were there to motivate us to buy their "fitness drinks". Agree with the others. Don't panic. Get a real reading and start keeping a journal.

Ive never used one of these. What the hell does height have to do with bodyfat?

Don't. I've even seen one used on me where I walked into the gym and used it. And then when I'm leaving, use it again and it's gone up or down by 6-7% (This is within an hour to two hours time).

tony,

basically its a bio-impedience meter. it uses age, height, and gender, along with a mildly electric pulse, to test your 'conductivity'. it then determines bodyfat % based on the results.

so 2 things:
1. if your electrolytes aren't perfect for how the scale is calibrated, you get funny results
2. people with pace makers should NEVER use one of these devices

Too funny! Sounds like another piece of gym equipment to avoid! Imagine if you really believed in this thing? You'd be like Holy S***, I dropped my BF 6% in one workout!!!! What a workout I have!!!! :p

Cheers for help

Hey ppl,
Well I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty pissed off at myself when I found out the BFat thing had gone from 11.5% to 14.7% when I've been eating so healthily and going to the gym so damn much.
BUT
I reckon the reading was probably wrong, the problem here though is I don't even know if I was 11.5% before!
I have literally no idea what my BF is as I have nothing to compare to.
Maybe it's worth posting a picture of myself so you ppl can give my an idea of what I should be doing?
In the meantime I'm eating healthily and going to the gym every other day, might also get a job at the centre aswell, which is cool (free gym ppl! )

Thanks again, if I hadn't heard from here that those electronic things are not all that good, I would still be clueless!

oh and malkore, I believe they also use weight as part of it.
just thought I'd point it out.

the U.S. navy has a body fat calculater im sure you can google. it is your hight, weight, waist measurments and neck measurements. it could be pretty accurate but i dont know because i weigh 145 and im 5'9 they only measure people who look like they might be over weight.
