I guess I have to start at some point

10 years ago I was so deep in martial arts that I was on international competitions, was trainer in a club for years and had my nice little six pack (actually more like 8 ish) ... with 184cm (72 inch) I weight 82kg (180.7 lbs). In 2001 I moved from Germany to Ireland (so I apologize in advance for my grammar / spelling). Since I was used to really dark bread etc. I had a big problem to adjust to the food (Soda Bread ? 'Cmon ;) ). I was working in a call center and what did I do the whole day ? Using the vending machine to get rid of my hunger .. So I was eating sweets like a maniac, drinking Coke as much as I ate sweets and crisps. Oh, and yes I was looking for a new gym, but there wasn't really an affordable available.

Anyway, so I was eating and of course starting drinking beer too (socialising you know).

So I gained from 2001 to 2004 almost 40 Kilo (88 lbs) ... in 2004 I moved to Gibraltar and gained until now another 10 kilo (22 lbs).

So I am now at 132 Kilo (291 lbs) and desperate to lose weight.

Normally I would say it is stupid to start around xmas, xmas parties etc. etc. but I have realised that if I would start after xmas, I might even gain more weight and when I start now I might keep my weight even with all those xmas parties. I figured the best way for me in the moment is Weight Watchers.. I am signed up online with WW and have ACTUALLY no problems to stay with it .. in the moment I do have some setbacks .. but I hope with the help of this community I am able to achieve my goal ...

So here are my "figures":

Start Weight: 132 Kilo (291 lbs)
Goal Weight: 85 Kilo (187 lbs)
Reached by: August 2007

Hiya, theres this weird game everyones playing lol, Post 5 random facts about yourself in your diary journal and then choose 5 other people to tag.

Have a great day.

Thanks guys :)

I don't do any exercise just yet .. I am going to buy a stationary bike next week and will cycle every time I am watching TV. At least that's the plan.

Heyas and welcome! Goodluck to ya! As far as exersicing
stationary bike is gr8 I find it easy to do while watching a
movie or a show. But if you have descent weather where you
are there is nothing as easy and more enjoyable than taking
a walk maybe start off with a mile and add a 1/2 mile every
other week. But if it's snowy than thats out of the question for
now anyway. Have a gr8 day and a Happy Thanksgiving,Tammy

Snow ? Hell no :)

Mmm.. actually you are right ... I could also easily walk up the rock .. I just hate walking / jogging .. but maybe mainly because of my weight. And once I start moving I sweat like a pig :(

Attached a pic where I am living in the moment ...

Hey,
I am in a same boat as you, professional sports and then some weight gain (although I was not very thin even during my sporty years). Although not that drastical, but I also only waited 2 years since quitting sports and starting to change my weight!
Also I have moved around almost as much as you, I lived in Germany (southern Germany), Spain (Madrid), Argentina (my home, I live there in the middle of nowhere) and currently live in London (England... there is a London somewhere in USA).
I hope you get that weight loss program started, I did 10 days ago and lost 2 pounds in my first week which was very encouraging!!
Love, Mila

Welcome!! that pictures looks gorgeous! I wish I was there right now instead of all the rain I'm having here.
good luck, and you're in a great place. I have a stationary bike too, and I'm really loving it. I try and walk as much as I can when ever I can, but it is nice to know I get on that thing and read while I work.

Today was a day which is the best example for my bad eating habit and the lack of the ability to control myself.

This morning I had some cereals and was eating carrots the whole day and had about 2 litre of Green Tea .. the first few cups were with sugar but only I "forgot" that I wanted to stop that .. sounds weird I know ... but again, I am used to it so I guess its sometimes to remember being on a diet.

Back to my bad behaviour: for lunch I had a WW meal (Chicken with lemon grass and rice) and again carrots (I don't know why, but I just love that stuff in the moment).

So far so good (and I was kinda proud of myself) .. so a colleague called to celebrate his birthday..I agreed to go to the local pub and I actually told him I am on a diet so he should not be surprised when I drink only coke light) .. but that was the last time I even thought about that .. In the pub it was weird .. I completely forgot about the diet and had the first beer in minutes... and the second .. and the third ..

When I was home I just thought : WTF ARE YOU DOING .... :(

So, I guess I will start tomorrow once again .. damn why is this soooo hard ....

The only thing I am still proud of : I did not make a deal out of the fact I am on a diet .. people see I am big and people know that my weight has to go down .. I just think that IF I tell as many people as possible .. I gain more respect of my diet (so no "Come on, just a pint") and myself ...

Ohhh, The Rock! It's on my list of places to visit one day - is it as good a place as I've heard it is?

Welcome Michael, this is a great place to be and full of support. Oh, and you've been officially tagged (as Janez mentioned above) ;) :p

Hi Michael! Don't fret about the pub visit, this is a long process that can take a while to get used to. The trick is to jump right back into it full force. Your really are doing great! Keep it up!! :D:D

And can't wait to read your 5 facts! :D

Uii ... right ... 5 facts ...

  1. My all time favorite movie is Bloodsport with Jean Claude Van Damme
  2. My all time favorite band is Metallica
  3. I would love to have a date with Alyssa Milano
  4. Women love me as a friend but not as a partner (sometime realise it too late) :(
  5. I would kill for a US Green Card ;)

MMMkey ... today is another day .. So far I am where I wanted to be ... I woke up late since I tried to be prepared for my night shift tonight. I wanted to make myself a nice breakfast but somehow I wasn't hungry ... A bit later I ate a Chicken Risoto (WW) and had already two litres of water.

By the way, I am not someone who goes on the scale every day. I mostly just go on it once a week :) This way it is not so frustrating since it is most likely that something has happened :)

I will probably eat another meal before I go on the night shift and will take again a lot of carrots :p

I think once a week is best. I had to talk myself into as much as that but I think a regular weigh in will give a nice even picture of your progress.

I decided to call my day, Weigh-in-Wednesday - I want to create a jingle for it too, but I'm musically challenged :D

Keep up the good work Michael :)

Welcome here Michael! That's a gorgeous place your'e living in right now! I joined WW online a few months ago as well, and find it's working really good for me.:)
