I made a hello post but Im ready to start my Diary. I have read around this forum some and their doesn't seem to be men. So I hope this isnt a ladies only thing and Im making a fool of my self but this is going to be a hard fight for me and I need support.
For those that missed my hello post.

Hey all my name is Jake. Im 28 from SLC UT. While I feel like I live a fairly active life I had a reality bump last weekend. My buddy and I went on a hike last week while camping It was maybe 7 or 8 miles with 1500' of elevation I found myself wanting to quit several times. Talking with my friend we decided it was sad how far we have let our selfs go for our age and it was time to do something about it. So its on we meet up with a group of friends every Wednesday to ride gokarts so I brought a scale yesterday and we weighed in. I'm 5'11" and I'm at 264lbs. Man It really felt bad to see that number on the scale. The good news is I dont feel like it. I still play ice hockey in an adult beer league ride dirt bikes fairly often and found out today my first day back to a gym in 5+ years I can hold my own on the treadmill. The bad news is I eat allot and all of it is bad food. I figured out an average day of calories I eat and drink in a day and its safe to say Im 6000+ a day. Anyways we made a fairly large wager on who can drop the most weight the cut off date is December 8th. I got to win this for myself and the payout would be nice also. I joined this forum with the hope to find a type of support group. Help me stay stong.

So my goal is 214lbs by 12/8 with my gross calorie intake cut way back I think I can make it.
And a pic of me last weekend after the death hike. and a few pics of pics (they suck but you get the idea) of me just a few years back.

Hi! Yep nope its not just ladies, theres quite a few guys on here.

I think you will find good support here, I know I have.

Good luck in your efforts and I look forward to seeing your progress!!

Welcome!

Morning two work out went awesome. Growing up playing Ice hockey on a state level I know how to push myself the problem is now it hurts much more then it used to. Any advice for the post workout pains? Ibuprofen?
1300 calories yesterday and Plan on the same today. Its going to be tough Friday is date night with my wife and most times its dinner and a few tall beers.
Only day two and I miss beer. Its for the best my wife and I are getting ready to start In vitro fertilization so I need to quit drinking for that also.

Hey Jake, Welcome, You are not the only guy here ! Congrats on your choice to change your life. I have recently started working out again so I know where you are coming from. I am 45 and find that the recovery process does take longer now and there is more pain, I try to stretch the muscles really good before and after a workout and then actually enjoy the pain because it means results. Stick with it, it will be hard, but really push yourself. The results will be worth it ! good luck

Had a good weekend. I stayed within my calorie limits but I did drink one light beer Saturday night. Friday after work I felt so good I hit the gym again on my way home. Went Saturday morning but took Sunday off to let some of my muscles heal. I had a great workout this morning.

The best part of my week is Im heading out on a vacation Wednesday morning. Five day camping trip in Southern Utah Desert. Its a guys trip with desert prerunners about 1000 miles of off roading and their will be a ton of hiking and exploring. The best part is my buddy I have the deal with is going so it will help me eat right with him their.

I havent weighed myself yet because I only want to do it on the same scale. The scale is at my buddies shop out at Miller Motorsports Park where we go ride gokarts every week but with this trip it will wait another week no big deal I am feeling good. In fact at my work we have crews work out of town often and one of the guys that has been gone for a few weeks was talking to me this morning and almost mid sentence stopped and said you have lost weight. So ya it was encouraging for sure.

I'm back from vacation! Other then getting hammered drunk a few nights I did very very good with diet. I did a ton of just unreal hiking in some awesome country. I even made it to the gym this morning witch is always hard the next day after a trip.

a few pics from the trip.

So winter hockey has started. I went and played last night after taking the summer off and man it about fucking killed me. I also hit the gym this morning but was hurting to bad to run so I had to hit up the elliptical machine.

I feel drained today. I dont know if I can recover from ice hockey on only 1200 calories a day. I still haven't weighed in so I hope that when I do I will see some results and help motivate me to keep going.

Man yesterday was a tough one. I came home from work and crashed and took a nap for about an hour. I havent felt that tired in a long long time. I ate about 300 more calories at dinner then I normally would and it helped a bit. I had the energy to go get some work done outside. Made it to the gym again this morning and wanted to weigh in on their scale since I haven't had a chance to do so on our competition scale. but ya it was gone. go figure I have been looking at it for three weeks and the day I go to use it its gone. Oh well.

yes there are guys on here.... I just started on here also. In the same boat, trying to hit that 180 mark again!!!! Keep it up and look forward to following your results!

Talk about another shity day yesterday!!:puke: I dont know if Im getting sick or what but I just feel so drained. I took like a 4 hour nap after work got up ate dinner and took the dog for a walk and still slept all night. My whole body just hurts. I took the day off the gym to see if that helps. I dont think its food as I ate about 1800 calories yesterday and felt even worse then the day before. What ever it is I hope I get over it soon.

Hey. :) You're doing really well. I would say with your fatigue it's either of 3 things: 1. You're overtraining (in which case you did the right thing by taking a day off); 2. You're lacking iron, vitamin C and/or other nutrients, which are depleted faster when working out; or 3. You're coming down with a virus or something. Maybe consider taking a multi-vitamin if your tiredness doesn't go away.

Thanks for the feedback. Multi-vitamin is something I really should be taking. Any suggestions on what is a good one or what to look for when buying?

Vitamin D ( they have upped the requirements) , Calcium... not just for women anymore, fish oil... all on top of a multi vitamin. I remember as a kid wathcing my parent take vitamins thinking... I will never do that when I get old.... now I take more than they used to. When I go into the Dr. and when I tell them what I take, I get an "attaboy" from them, so I must be doing something right!

Yesterday was a much better day. A day off is what I needed. After a good nights sleep I was ready for the gym this morning. Good work out and so far a good Friday.

Monday oh shitty Mondays. Nothing like the first day of a work week to act like a buzz kill. Saturday night me and the wife went and got some pedi's lol it felt good. Yesterday was a good day no gym but I did take a small hike and did a little fishing.
Hit the gym this morning and now at work. Hope this will be a good week.

I know I haven't updated in like a week or so but its business as usual for me.

I have had few things to eat I shouldn't have but all in all good things.

First hockey game of the year last night we won and I had 2 of the 3 goals for our team.

I weighed in this morning and am down another 3lbs. Feeling good.
