Hurt elbows

Hi im new here and I was wondering if any of you have heard of this........i am 20 years old and a male and have recently started a kickboxing and grappling class and for some reason whenever I go and do the exercises ( punching, punching heavy bag, wrestling other people ) by the end of the class my elbows(both) are throbing in pain. This lasts probably for about an hour or so then the pain goes away and the muscle is just tight. It only hurt a little at first but now it's getting alot worse, to the point where it hurts just to move them. I took this week off and rested them but im worried that when i go back it will just act up again. Anyone ever hear of this ?

Have you got your range down? Are you over punching internally rotating your elbows when you punch? Simultaneously rotating wrists and producing elbow flexion at the same time? These can all lead to problems with elbows when punching.

I just saw this thread.

Are your elbows still bothering you? Where, exactly, is the pain? Has any professional looked at it?

I have had tennis elbow twice in my right elbow and once in my left. This is an aggravating and persistent injury.

Are you wearing a gi? Sometimes forearms and elbows will hurt from overuse of grips. Are you getting armbarred or fighting overhooks frequently? If so, chg your grips and stop getting armbarred. Yeah I know, easier said than done.

Also you can hurt your elbows if you miss the bag or strike the bag at odd angles. Wear compression braces on your elbows during class and take breaks between classes. It takes a while to get used to it and your elbows will get stronger with time.

I know you have the drive, but you have to ease into combat sports for your joints sake. Also start taking glucosamine, that helps the joints too.
