How true is this?

Right now at age 19 Iam 5'9 145, but at 13 I was 5'1 155. Back then my doctor kept telling me to loose weight. I just hadn't really hit any growth spurts yet....but anyway, he said one of the best execises to burn fat is to walk up and down steps for 20 to 30 mins. How true is this? I always heard it could damage your knees

walking up and down stairs is much more difficult than walking normaly, in this case it will work towards cardio. This will not damage your knees thats not abnormal wear and tear. don't know where you heard that?? thats not the best exercise for fatloss but in some situations is the best option (unable to leave the house)

Where do they keep breeding these idiots who give such lame advice? Must be a farm in Nebraska somewhere.

That doc is a quack. Running stairs is a great form of exercise.

isnt that what his doc said though?

Oops... That's what I get for scanning. My bad. I thought the doc said that running could hurt your knees. It was the original poster who thought that. I have heard docs give some pretty ridiculous advice concerning exericise though.

Running stairs is great too. My gym is in a 41 story building, so I get to do enough to blow out my legs, but what really hurts two days later is my calves!
