How often should I work out?

Again, no idea if this is the right place to post this, but I never am sure where to post my questions.

I do squats, lunges, step ups, and fire hydrants to try to build a bigger butt.
(also horseback riding 5 days a week, but i'm not sure if that works your butt or not. I never noticed that it did, although someone told me horseback riders get big butts. it could have been what gave me mine.)

I do crunches to get abs. (not sure if it will work, I don't have much belly fat but I use no resistance or anything when doing them. any advice on that?)

I do calf raises on the bottom step of my stairs to try to get more fit calves.
(also horseback riding 5 days a week, which definitely works my calves.)

I read somewhere that you should only train each muscle group once or twice a week, so that it can grow. my glutes, I do want to grow. as for my calves, I just want lean but fit megan fox type legs. (genetics, I know. but my legs are naturally lean.) so maybe I don't want them to grow? how often should I work them, to achieve "megan fox fit legs?"
for my abs, I just don't know anything about that or how often to work them or how to really get results.

Most people think to get a six pack they need to work abs, when they really need to drop their body fat, to see the muscle (even skinny people). Like all muscles you can make your abs bigger and the best way is with resistance training.

With resistance training you are challenging your muscles with a task they are not used to (heavy load). When you rest and eat health with lots of protein your body builds muscle to meet the new demand of your workout. I would suggest you allow at least one to two days between workouts and increase the resistance slowly over time. Resistance training two times a week I feel is not enough. Three is preferable so long as you are increasing resistance over time. Adding cardio to your off days would be good.
