How much cardio is too much?

Would it hurt you more than help you to run 5 miles or an extended distance. Everyone on here preaches HIIT training and 20 minute cardio and i do both and they work great but i was just wondering because i used to run longer distances and i was thinking about doing that again to get ready for summer soccer. What are the pros and cons of it? Thanks!
 
The way I understand it is anything past 20 minutes is only needed when training for somethign specific (summer soccer in your case)

So while most say 20 min is good that would not get your wind up enough to run 2 45 min halves of a full soccer game. I do not think anyway so go for it.
 
Yeah I would still run long distance, especially for soccer. You need endurance obviously. HIIT is good, but it's better suited for burning more calories, getting your heart rate up - all in a shorter amount of time. Just make sure you are eating enough though so you don't drop a ton of weight.
