How much are your martial art lessons?

How much are your lessons? My friend does karate, he is a black belt 1st dan, so he has smaller sessions of about 10 for £5 per hour. I was thinking about joining but the teacher's other classes have around 25 people in them, and it is the same price. This guy has around 10 lessons a day so he must be making a fortune and I don't want to go to a place where I am just another low level pupil and probably won't get any private attention. How much are lessons in your area?

Also of the top of my head:
£1 = US$1.84 / Canadian $2.1

When I still ran my school, I was charging $50 per month. That was up to a few years ago. That is an average price here in Wisconsin.

My aikido dojo in Toronto is $55/month, which is much cheaper than the other ones around - but my teachers don't make any money. Other places are about $60-75/month.

That's the problem with schools today, the insurance alone can kill you.
That and alot of schools don't use the right leadership as in having a higher level teaching classes!

would you happen to know Mr. Denu? he was my teacher

That sounds awesome. I wish we had somthing like that in the UK.

north east england in my community centre they do something called 'fighting fit muay thai' first session free and a pound a session everytime you go (fridays are 2 hours long, thursdays are 3 hours long) and some of the top people who fight in mmatotalcombat events go....

Most of the Tae Kwon Do places in my area charge $99 for 17 and under, and $122 for 18+ per month. I think that is expensive compared to most other schools but worth it. The Wushu places in my area charge $10 everytime you come. You could choose to come once a week or every day etc but still $10 a session.

Muay Thai is $80 a month for unlimited classes which are every day but sunday. BJJ and MT are $150 for unlimited training time.

cor, dont prices vary,we do freestyle karate(its our own style ,based loosely on waderoo, taekwondo and jutitsu),we charge £2 for 1 hour,or £5 for the week, you can go up to 7 lessons a week for this, vince

BJJ and Muay Thai in my area are $150/mo and you only get two classes per week.

I was mistaken on this. BJJ is $119 for 2x per week. They have Muay Thai for $15 a class also. I found that Krav Maga and even Tae Kwon Do and Karate are around $150/mo. Imagine how much the salaries are here. Im thinking of starting BJJ in the spring.
