How many days a week to workout?

Hi, I need info on how many days a week should I work-out. I work out 7 days a week straight, however I see everywhere that you should work out 3 days a week. My goal is to gain some muscle mass. I workout mostly at home, my abs, biceps, triceps and chest if it makes any difference. thanks a lot
 
In my opinion, give each muscle 2 days rest at least. More if you're new to it all. For me i do a push/pull/rest cycle, so each muscle gets its 2 days rest.
