How low do you squat?

I was wondering how low you guys go when you squat. If I am doing Hindu's I go as low as possible without curling my tail under but with a weight I usually go now lower than my thighs parallel to the floor- just habit I suppose.

What do you guys do?

i spent the month of october narrowing my stance and trying to go lower. i was able to lower the safety bars on my power rack one notch after awhile. now i'm starting to bottom out on them again so i may be able to go even lower after awhile.

i'm going slightly below parallel.

do any of you find that you start to curl your butt under when you get near the ground?

How serious would you say this is- should you only go as low as you can stay straight?

i go as low as i do when i lift me stretcher from the lowest level, so its pretty low. i don't curl my tail bone under or my instructor will kick my butt, literally. he always is on us to keep your butt down and lift right or your backs a goner and if you can't to go home. it keeps you focused when someone is posied ready to kick you in the rear end.lol.

Sounds like a hip flexor problem to me, IE your not flexible enough. Look for some excercises to improve flexibitly.

Squatting below parallel is A-OK provided you have effecient mobility in the ankles. Watch a toddler when they are getting up off the floor. They squat from the ground up. We lose that flexibility as we age becasue of poor lifting habits, posture, and muscle imbalances.
