How long between workouts?

hi, im just about to start a hypertrophy program (med-high reps).

I am planning on working out 3 times a week (monday, wednesday, friday)

My question is this: If i do bench press on monday, it is okay (from a muscle-resting perpective) to do bench on wednesday and friday as well? Or do the muscles i have used during the bench pressing need a full weeks rest to build muscle?

Im just a little confused as to how much rest (in days) a muscle group needs to optimally rebuild / grow before the group can be worked again.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Personally if my muscle is no longer aching from the previous workout i feel its ok to then work it again. But generally id say working a muscle twice a week is enough, you could work it three times but just dont make it as intense when working it and leave at least a day inbetween for rest.

BTW id do low-med reps if your wanting optimal muscle gain (between 6-10 reps) with a nice amount of weight stacked on :)
 
around 48 hours is average. though if your sore then i wouldnt recommend you to workout. just be careful not to use to high of a volume so you dont overtrain yourself over time.
