How do you post images on a thread?

So, I've decided to post pictures of myself, but I'm technologically retarded. How do you do it?

have the image hosted somewhere -like or or one of the free sites out there... and then use the IMG tags - look at the tool bar on any post and you'll see the mountains with the sun picture -that will give you a link to put on the img tags...
