This is my first day here but it was suggested I come here and start my diary. I have been working on and off on my weight loss for a few months but seem to be stuck at 202. Arggghhh. Well I have started 1 gallon of water a day and have made it through the first couple of days without drowning.
I have been doing the elliptical for 36-38 minutes a day (Hubby bought one for us both to use) and tonight I did 20 minutes of Pilates. It was tough as I have never tried it before but I think after awhile I will grow to like it.
My oldest daughter is 12 (13 in a couple of months) But has been putting on quit a bit of weight the last few months. She is close to being considered overweight, not really overeating per say as being very inactive, maybe 5 pounds away. While I have not said anything to her as I do not want her obsessing and thinking she is fat I also try to challenge her every day as I have been challenging myself. I went about it in the way that I told her I really needed someone to work out with and since she was so young and strong that I thought she would be a good partner. So after I do the elliptical she hops on and tops what I do. LOL of course this works perfectly as she doesnt want her dumb old mom to do better than her.
And I believe it helps keep me going on the days I would rather lay on the couch all day. And that is easy to do. I am a SAHM and we homeschool all the kids but the oldest so we do a lot of sitting for schoolwork during the winter and do more up and about during the warmer months.
I have been adding new things and taking out bad things for us slowly. My husband has been resistent but slowly catching up to us. He is at 265 high blood pressure and high cholesterol so I am hoping the changes I am making will continue to catch on with the rest of the family.
I am watching my calories but not staying within a certain range. For example one day this week I ate 1952 calories and the next was 1546 and today it was 1389 and I am burning between 2500 and 2990 for those 3 days. I have been keeping track of that at Fitday. Today was so low because it was my youngest daughters 4th birthday so I was extra careful with what I was eating so that I could enjoy a piece of her cake with her. But I munched on grapes in between meals today and tried my best to stay away from the things I was really craving.
I was on the Adtkins about 3 years ago but ended up gaining all of it back. This time I want it to stay off!! So I am not going that route again. I am just trying to change things a little at a time. Until recently I had not been working out at all and not doing to many activities even around the house. The last 2 weeks we have been taking trips to the library 4-5 times a week and I have started redoing my sons room. Now this probably seems petty to most but I was spending my days sitting doing schoolwork with the kids and the rest on the computer minus cooking meals and some light cleaning. So not only is my body looking and feeling better so is my home and my family.
I think my biggest worry is slipping back into the life I have been living the last year or two so that is how I found this board. I just needed somewhere to go to say hey this has been a bad day and have others understand why and also understand why losing 1 pound is such a huge deal. My hubby is great as long as I am doing the motivating but he is not much of a motivater himself so I really believe this board with be a very strong assest for me.
Well I am done with the last glass of water out of my jug for the day so it is off to bed. My goal is to update in here every day for the first week and then as often as possible because my next goal is not spending more than an hour a day on the computer! LOL
