hi everybody!

I am currently trying to lose weight. I have a long relationship with diets and weight struggles and it is so controversial how this is really important to me but at the same time I easily screw up what I eat knowing it’s going to make me feel guilty and ashamed.

I always put a lot of effort to try to eat well and then end up having for example dessert at night after a day in which I ate really well and also excersied. Practically I have such a strong need to lose weight but fail continuously. It doesn’t help the fact I have issues with insulin but I still think the main problem stands in my lack of will power.

I have dieted so many times that it’s like I don’t have the motivation to do it anymore. That’s why I’m enthusiastic about trying to solve this issue by posting a food and excerise diary, so that maybe with your support and by reading also your comments/advices/stories/diaries I will manage to stay strong and finally lose weight.

I will start tomorrow since today (no surprise) was actually a bit of a disaster.

Thanks to you all! I hope I’ll hear from some of you soon as I start posting.
 
Hey Achill and welcome to the diaries! Have you made a plan to combat the desire to "ruin" your good days yet? I dunno: plan in advance to have a small treat after dinner, eat enough calories to not spook your body too much, have some kind of fruit you love, whatever might help you. Willpower alone will only carry you so far so try to make life easy for yourself.

I agree I need to plan in advance so that I don't fall in my usual vicious cycles!! I will start planning day by day meals so that I don't have the temptation to go wrong.

I have a bit of a slow metabolism so I'm trying to organize meals to keep myself a bit lower (with kcals) than what I normally burn in a day (also counting the kcals i burn excercising), my fitness pal really helps me to figure that out :)
I try to eat the most for breakfast and lunch and then have a lighter dinner with a lot of veggies, some healthy proteins and fats in all three meals. For breakfast today I had a cup of unsweetened porridge with some blueberries and almonds.
For lunch I am having some zucchini with chicken and a bit of avocado.
I still need to figure out dinner but will post as soon as I do!
 
Hi, Achill & welcome to the forum. It doesn't sound like you lack will-power at all. Planning will help. Putting something aside for the end of the day that will still keep you within your calories, is a good idea. It's hard to break out of bad habits. I often think I self-sabotage & I go through the guilt etc. It's tough, but we mustn't give up. All the best, Cate.
