Heres my food diary, im totally new here and need some help & encouragement!! any would be greatly appreciated.

Todays Diet - Not so great but today is day 1

breakfast
porridge with semi skimmed milk and very lightly sugared
small glass of fresh orange juice

snacks
2 coffees
4 small squares of milk chocolate

lunch
baked potato with butter dry tuna and potato salad - Ahh!

Snacks
1 coffee
banana

Dinner
Homemade vegetable soup - 2 slices of white bread
2 eggs scrambled & 1 slice of toast.

total calories - 1866
total fat - 61mg
cholesterol - 707mg (Too High!!)]
Sodium - 2726mg (Too High!!)
carbs - 236mg
fiber - 16mg
Protein - 60mg (Too High)
Sugar - 60mg (too high)

so all in all today has been an epic fail!

Exercise
I did 30 mins of exercise (lifting 10-20lbs items continuously) which equates to 234 calories

So 1632 calories in total today.

Tomorrows aim is 1500 Calories and then 20 mins of cardio and 10 mins of weights and toning.

How i'll achieve this

1 - no chocolate
2 - no heavy fillings
3 - homemade soup will be accompanied with 1 slice of bread and followed by fruit.
4 - less bread
5 - No Butter.

Any other ideas? Maybe i should eat a pear instead of a banana and cut down on my coffee replacing it with water? Thoughts??

Welcome to the forum! I hope being here helps you towards your goals :D

I think you had a great first day - well done!! - and don't be so hard on yourself! I think this journey is easier when you give yourself a break sometimes.

You've got the right idea that cutting out calories is the aim of the game but don't go too low. I was eating around 1700kcal a day and still losing weight so don't feel like you've got to be depriving yourself to lose weight :)

Looking at your menu I think if you could eat a piece of fruit rather than having some fruit juice you might cut out some calories there. I substituted flora light spread for butter to cut some calories - it doesn't taste bad once you've got used to it. Switching from white bread to 'best of both' or, even better, whole wheat bread is another good move if you don't eat one of those already.

PS you should tell us all a little bit more about yourself in the next post - where are you from? what are your goals? etc :)

Also, congratulations on your weight loss youre doing very well!! How long has it taken you to get to where you are?

Okay so about me.

Im Holly, im 24 and im from Scotland. I weigh 258lbs and ive been overweight my entire life. Since i was small i was bullied and teased about my weight, then when i grew upto my height (5,8) i was about 11 stone at 14/15 years old. I just kept on listening to my critics and carried on eating poorly and accepted the fact that i was going to be different to everyone else. I was going to be fat like this and i just accepted it.
Since i was 17, ive been on every diet under the sun, except for just eating healthy and changing my lifestyle.

This year has been one of the hardest of my life for personal reasons, but i realised somewhere that my weight was bringing me down, hugely, it was having way too much impact on my life, both physically and mentally. So i decided to make a change and i can honestly say that so far my motivation has not weakened.

My ultimate goal is to loose 90lbs and get to 168lbs which would see me down to just over 12 stone and a BMI of 25.5 which is just above the healthy zone. Once i achieve this goal, i'll reassess how much more weight i want to loose, if any, and will hope to tone up.

Initially however, my first goal is to loose 20lbs by xmas which is 10 weeks away so 2lbs every week should be achievable. If i dont make the target its no biggy, but its my aim.

Ive been strucken down with the awful cold thing thats going around and so i feel sick a lot - which maaay mean some extra weight loss! im sure none that will stay off though lol

Anyways yesterday was a bit rubbish - so we'll skim past that one for now.

Im only just half way through the day but heres what ive had and i will update again later!

2 weetabix with 1 tablespoon sugar and semi skimmed milk
2 coffee's with semi skimmed milk
Glass Of Water
Lunch - Two Slices Of Best Of Both Bread With Dairylea Spread
More Water.

That all totals to
485kcals
10g fat
0g Cholesterol
130mg Sodium
73g Carbs
4g Fiber
14g Protein
6g Sugars

According to livestrong im doing very well with todays breakfast and lunch and also ive not snacked throughout the morning except for coffee!

Tonights dinner;-
Chicken & Salad Wrap
Potato Wedges & Garlic Bread

That Equates to 1090Kcals! Woooo!! likelihood is ill eat a banana and another coffee inbetween though.
 
cantona - im not really, when i put my daily diet into the livestrong calculator thingy it said my protein was too high!

Hey yeah i agree its only 1090 calories because i cut my portion size quite a bit! but this weekend has been a total BUST! tomorrows a new day and ill start then ! failure in my first week! Ahh!
 
Hello Holly, I wish you luck.
Don't feel to bad about a little fall off the wagon. It's not the fall that is important, its how you get back up.

I know of someone who allows herself to eat 2000 cal on the weekends, that way she kinda has some damage control.
Maybe you could cut yourself a little slack for the weekend too. I know I do, and my loss has been steady.

so the week from hell has finally come to an end. things are still bad but im focussing on ensuring that it has no more of my life or my time.

No more.

Im working hard on my weight loss - not anywhere near hard enough

Ive lost 1.3lbs - rubbish but still a loss!

1.3 lbs is pretty good I think!

As long as the scale goes down you're on the right track!

Well new week and so far so good and its tuesday already!

Yesterday i consumed 1652Kcals and i did 30 mins of cardio exercise
Today so far, i have had;-

Breakfast - Porridge and honey with coffee (semi skimmed milk)
2 slices of best of both toast no butter - Oops! i know why i did wrong though - i had breakfast really early and lunch quite late.
Lunch - Baked Potato with Tuna & spring onion. (slight spread of mayo)
Glass of fresh Orange.

That all equates to 741Kcals so far. Tonight im having homemade vegetable soup, 1 slice of bread and a small portion of beans on toast. The plan is aswell to do a 30 minute cardio workout. I know 30 mins is not an awful lot but i plan to build it up as time goes on.

I appreciate my diet is far from idyllic but im working on it. Normally at 10pm id have a slice of cake and a coffee. Tonight at 10pm im having a glass of water and a rich tea biscuit. I plan on increasing my water intake and of course cutting out the 2 slices of toast mid morning, im going to replace that with fruit if i need it.

Hey Cantona! Thanks again for the encouragement

Well ive been keeping up with my healthy living and so far ive lost 2lbs in total i dont know what im doing wrong and its driving me somewhat stir crazy but i suppose i shouldnt expect results overnight

Saturday was my cheat day so i weighed myself on saturday morning and i had lost 1lbs, and again on monday - i didnt loose anything but...I DIDNT GAIN EITHER! :D

Mood is good for now.

Im noticing though that around 11am-ish im getting a bit lightheaded and shaky - spoke to my dad (hes medical) and he says its just a change in diet thats doing it - anyone else find they got this?
