i started exercising & dieting in feb 09,i was then 264 lb,I was up to last week 209lb. was swimming & cycling,but for the last 3 weeks due to injury can only cycle now,roughly doing 18 km a day,at a party sat,and eat 2 pieces of chocolate cake,first time since feb i have diverted from my diet.back to cycling yesterday & today and weighted my self and i could not believe i had put on 6lb bringing me back up to 216lb,can anybody tell me what happened,is this muscle or just from chocolate cake,ps my free fat mass is down by 2lb:(:toetap05:
 
I'm not an expert but it seems that there are a million different things that can cause this and I'm sure it's a combination of them all. My weight seems to fluctuate 3-4lbs between the time I wake up and when I go to bed. I know muscle weighs more than fat so it can appear like a gain but you might just be upping muscle mass. I wouldn't worry to much about the cake... You did it but there is nothing you can do about it now. Getting depressed or obsessing over it isn't healhty IMHO. Just stay hydrated and continue with the working out... Try weighing yourself every couple days and see if the trend starts to go down again.

I think you will continue to loose..
