Hey guys!

This is my first post, and I really hope it isn't my last. Alright guys I've been reading your website for a long while now, and I decided to sign up today. I saw how many success stories there were and I imagined one of them being mine.

My story

I'm from Canada, and ever since the age of 7, I've had weight issues (I wasn't a chubby baby). I'm 15 years old now, and I can't live with this any more. I currently weigh 215 pounds, and I'm 5"6. I REALLY need some help, and I'd appreciate so much if you could show me a helpful technique or diet. I have one major problem : I can count my calories over and over but I find it sooo annoying... I know it might be a lame excuse, but what I'm really after is a diet plan for maybe, 20-30 days(different recipes)? Getting the food and cooking isn't the issue, all I need is a good plan or a nice, helpful walkthrough. I'm coming to the point where I'm depressed about my weight all the time. The reason I'm so concerned about it is...well... I have tons of friends at school, I'm quite "popular". The thing is, my chest and back are bleach white, my "manboobs" are a huge thing and I wish I could just wake up one day and they wouldn't be there. I could whine about it all day, but all I'm asking for is a little help. I'd appreciate it so so much.

Regards, Bob.

You're not going to get the results you want in 20-30 days, and they won't last if you think of it that way.

You don't necessarily have to count your calories, but educate yourself on nutrition. For a week or so, count calories, see just how much certain things have. If you stick with things you know are healthy and get into an exercise routine, you will lose weight. However, if you do this and then stop and return to your previous eating habits, the weight will come back plus more. You can find your estimated BMR (google it), which tells you how many calories your body burns a day, without taking into account physical activity. One pound of fat=3500 calories. So, you have to take in that many less calories over a period of time in order to lose 1lb. This is why exercise helps too and can raise your metabolism (which will in a sense raise your BMR). Look around the site, you will learn a lot.

eating good carbs, like brown rice etc instead of cutting out completely. u HAVE to have carbs, at some point....

:waving:Hello, from a fellow Canuck! :eh:
Sorry to hear that you are having such a struggle with your weight and the way that it makes you feel. We have all been there!

I understand not wanting to count calories. I joined Weight Watchers and found it somewhat easier for me. You can also join online. However, it does cost $, while keeping track of your food intake is FREE! You can set up a free account at fitday.com, which many on this forum swear by.

Otherwise, make sure you are eating lots of protein, fruits, and veggies. Cut waaaaaaaay down on sugary junk and salty crap - you know exactly what I mean! Don't chow down on greasy burgers and fries, either. There is a universal law called The Law of the Harvest - meaning that we reap what we sew. For those of us with weight issues, that is so true! Eat right and exercise and you will reap the many benefits.

Do you drink pop? JUST SAY NO! This is a huge culprit for many young people. Switch to water and your body (and skin) will thank you.

Have you tried playing DDR? My daughters absolutely love it - and so do I! It is a totally cool and fun way to get your heart pumping and help you drop your unwanted pounds!

There are many teens who use this forum for inspiration and advice. You will not lose all of your weight overnight, because that's not how you gained it. And people who do lose it so fast almost always gain it back. It is about learning healthy habits that will last you a lifetime, so you don't ever have to feel this way again!

Thus endeth the sermon. Best wishes - YOU CAN DO THIS!
Cheers, eh.

Thank you SO MUCH! Reading this was a true motivation. Luckily, I read this just before my family's anual New Year's party. As you might have guessed, it includes mountains of greasy and oily foods. I will definately take the DDR into account. I used to play it... when I was 6. Come to think of it, I got bigger when I stopped playing it. Anyway, thank you sooo much for this thread. I've officially stopped drinking soda in general, as a first step(which I'm quite proud of), and I've stopped eating out as often as I used to. I'm considering joining Weight Watchers, except it might be tough to convince the parents.. or to tell them anyway. The canadians know best, eh?:eh: Thank you Abba!

Listen to the Good advice on here. Remember to drink a lot of water, and aim for around 2 pounds of weight loss a week, or 7000 less!! Good luck!!
