Heroes

I still have not seen any episodes, I saw that it is going to play the whole series back to back followed by the final ep on saturday. I'll set the DVR up and eventually get around to them. The promo looked pretty cool though.

your inn for a ride :D

ya heroes is pretty good. i heard after this season they might have a prequel or something before "heroes" after this season is over. im not sure

I think I read an interview where the writers said they would stop continuing these characters now and pick up on others.

It makes sense to start over again with the Petrelli family, Hiro's dad, Linderman, and all those other people.

so what did you guys think of the season finale? i thought it was alright.i was hoping for a better battle between patrelli and syler though. patrelli went down like a sissy lol

I agree.

Spoilers

They could have had a better (at least longer) fight sequence had they not spent so much time with Nathan's dumbassness. Claire was fine in the situation she was in. She should have just shot Peter, at least then no one (Nathan) would have died.

Argh yeah, the fight was soooo weak. Peter better learn how to use his powers better the next time around, or it's just going to be the same ****. Peter has ALL of EVERYONE'S powers. He should just go out and learn how to use them all.

Anyway, I'm excited to see the history of the previous generation, and take a break from our current characters. The Peterelli's were getting god damn tiresome.

Ya there is a discussion over at nbc about some Urulu character. This also was there:

And, Sylar knows he's not going to die. When he's in the loft painting, in his eyes,it shows Nathan flying in, shows Hiro and Peter hitting him. He also knows he needs Peter to lose control of his emotions, thats why he explodes, not because there are to many Supers around, he's not overloaded, its because emotions controls Teds abilities, and Peter lost it.

I watched Sylars eyes but online you cant do slow motion so I didnt see all of this.

This is a great thread about the finale and why we shouldnt be disappointed. Makes sense:

You cant expect much of a fight when Peter only can be invisible. Sylar would simply have destroyed him.

Peter is not full up on flashy powers. What could he have used? Powers he knows of include: Telepathy, regeneration, teleportation/time manipulation, flight, painting the future, locating, invisibility, super-strength and telekinesis. We can't count Ted's power since he obviouisly wouldn't use that. None of these powers are really flashy to begin with. He used super-strength on Sylar and that was enough really. Even if NBC ponied up some money for special effects, it wouldn't have made much difference in this fight.

And people shouldn't be disppointed with this standoff. Be glad we saw what we did. The show has covered up the violence from the very beginning. We never once saw Jessica tear people in half. We didn't see Sylar kill anyone of his victims until Jackie. And even then, it was just a little line of blood. Same thing happened with Charlie. Most of the time, all we see is dead bodies (the Walkers, Dale, Zane, Eden, etc.) because if god forbid we see people killing other innocent or good characters, parents who don't care enough to monitor their children's tv viewing would complain more than those who are complaining about the finale. Regardless, Peter and Sylar aren't exactly trained fighters. I doubt either of them could last in a fight longer than ten minutes, even if they used their powers. Plus it would be boring after about one tk blast.

In Suresh's apartment, Sylar chokes Peter, Peter flings him back. Any more tk exchange between the two of them would have sucked. So short of teleporting away, leaving Mohinder to die, what could Peter have done? Paint a pretty picture? He turns invisible. The glass thing made the use of tk again cool. And Sylar did it as soon as Peter turned invisible. So Peter couldn't attack Sylar w/o giving himself away. Hence, end of fight when Sylar flings the glass out suddenly.
The last fight begins the same, w/ Peter held up by tk. Sylar doesn't let Bennet or Parkman break his hold on Peter this time. Not that the use of guns could've added to the fight anymore than they did. He grabs a parking meter. Also a good use of tk. Using tk to bring yourself weapons is always much better on screen than just flinging your enemy away. Jessica comes in. Her power isn't flashy either. Peter punches him a bunch, and the fight ends since he starts glowing. Why didn't Sylar use his other powers? He wanted to stop Peter from going nuclear, but only after it was obvious to everyone else that he was the bomb. He wanted to be the hero. If he just killed Peter outright, we'd still think he was a badguy. If everybody sees Peter about to go boom, then Sylar kills him, Sylar = Hero. That's why Syalr didn't just snap Peter's neck with tk.
The point is, everybody, that flashy special effects aren't necessary to make the fight interesting or sensical. Many of the powers only come with inexpensive sound effects anyway (i.e. telepathy, persuasion, super-hearing, locating, technokinesis, super-strength, memory). I can't imagine that people are this upset about not seeing Peter disappear again (invisibility/teleportation) or be pulled around by a rope (flight/tk) or having a few ripples around him (phasing) or heal from death yet again. Stop complaining about there not being enough special effects in fight scenes. Or about fight scenes being too short. You people are hungry for graphic violence!!! Lay off, please.

Are you referring to this post?

I agree that more violence would probably bring the angry parents down...But the fact still remains that the fights are still anti-climactic. Not that they should be gory, they're just a let down compared to the build up.

It was my understanding that Sylar's original power was to understand how things worked. This should lead to a devastiating fighting ability. The damage he took and the way he went down doesn't do justice to his abilities. Sylar could have done that cutting thing in a wide arc or any other number of things...he uses his powers in a very limited manner. Time manipulation is HUGE. We could have seen Peter freeze time in the Suresh apartment fight scene. We could have seen Peter flight-tackle Sylar or use Nikki's strength to trade some blows...anything really. Instead, he went down like a b.

An alternate ending I'd like to see for that is...they use Molly to locate The Hatian, have Hiro teleport him there, and have him nullify everyone's powers...

Meanwhile, everyone does a gang beatdown on Sylar, and Peter never goes nuclear because his powers are nullified.

No one dies and no one gets hurt...except Sylar.

Low budget, high effect.

Not when he doesnt know how to use it. He was using Nikki's strength when he was hitting Sylar, did you hear the sounds when he was punching? The big problem is that everyone was hoping Peter would kill Sylar in some dramatic fight, yet Peter was not capable of utilizing his powers well enough to contend with Sylar. Sylar is the superior "power" and Peter is lucky he wasnt killed.

I dont know if his ability to see how things worked is a power or not, it may be just a transition from his ability to fix watches into something far better (for him). Peter now equals regular dealing with having powers, Peter of the future will be one badass dude.

Peter also has the hearing ability, melting ability (or whatever that atomizing thing is), but he doesnt know that he obtained them from Sylar in the apartment.

Well, yes, that is the problem. They built this fight up to be a huge dramatic battle...it was a long time coming. Sylar could have done so many different things with his mastery over his collection of powers. I agree that Sylar could have instantly killed Peter, and some argue that he didn't do it on purpose. That's kind of besides the point. It was a let down in terms of the fight's length and utilization of abilities by all. Also, the ending was pretty cheesy. Peter could have flown himself into the atmosphere. He's flown at the drop of a hat on numerous occasions.

True, Peter has relatively no clue about how to use the powers he got from Hiro. But if he's used it before, it makes sense to have logical extensions of the power. Nathan's flight ability for example...Peter could use that in many other ways, and we've seen him use it on demand in the past, but he didn't use it for the finale when he was going nuclear, and he didn't use it in Suresh's apartment when he could have just high tailed it out of there with Mohinder.

I'm pretty sure Sylar's power is to be able to see how things work. How else could he take someone's brain out and figure a way to attain their power? His ability to fix watches extended beyond even normal human capacity. He could tell your watch was broken from across the room...That's how he can use his powers so easily and readily after taking someone's power.

In theory, Peter's also got the memory ability, the technopathic ability (Micha), etc.

They did build a fight that didnt happen, true. I dont think that Peter could do anything while the nuclearness was taking over him, thats what he said to Nathan. My interpretation anyways.
