Here's the dilema..

Hey all,

I have had this problem basically since I hit puberty... here it is - I have always been EXTREMELY skinny and underweight (16 yr. 128 pounds) and I have never, EVER been able to gain weight. So I am wondering and planning on starting to weight train.

But the thing is - I don't wanna waiste my time doing this if its gonna do the same thing as when I try to gain weight by just eating alot... which is
absolutely nothing.

I need some good experienced person's advice on how to fight high metabolism and how to get in shape the right way. My main goal is to build some good muscle soo people go "whoaa.. who's that??"

I also have a Bowflex home machine in my basement if that helps.

Thanks

Go to Amazon right now and get Scrawny to Brawny by John Beardi. this book was made for you!

you need to eat more, and eat more often. 6 or 7 meals per day (or 6 meals, plus a good post workout shake)

I'm unfamiliar with the book mentioned, but not the Author, so I say get the book and read it twice, follow it to a T, and eat more!!!

You'll gain when your metablolism slows, when you age.

Ok so 6-7 meals a day.. another question.. when do I stick my workout out in there? Also wut should I usualy include in each meal?

Also, a problem- Hunger is the main issue with eating alot.. I'm just not hungry all the time but I know I have to eat. So even tho I am not hungry all the time to eat 6-7 meals a day, do I still eat that much? It won't like burst my stomach or anything will I? :D

I was in the exact same boat as you in high school. I was 6'1 140lbs for about four years. Gaining weight seems like quite the battle untill you actually succeed, then you will realize how simple it is. Having a fast metabolism means that your body will naturally burn a higher than normal amount of calories. If you want to gain weight, you absolutely have to consume more calories than your body burns, it really is that simple.

If you want to pack on the muscles, you have to be a little more selective of the calories you intake. Supplements can help keep things convenient here. If you take a high calorie protien supp. twice a day along with 3-4 hefty meals, I think you can expect so see some gains pretty quickish. A couple of the weight gainers on the market are flirting with 1000 calories per serving with up to 50g of good protien, so you could look into one of those.

right now I try to eat 3-4 good meals a day, and work in a 200 cal protien bar and a 400+ cal protien shake.

Also, to be sure your body has enough fuel for your growing muscles, I would suggest consuming a gram of protien for every pound of body weight you have each day.

your workout should be anytime that is convenient for you and it should be followed by a protien supplement IMO.

As for the meals you eat, just get good at counting the grams of protien on the nutrition facts, and avoid over processed food.

whoa holy.. that's gonna take a while
