Here we go. :]

Hey everyone! This is my first post here! So, here's my story.

I've always been...bigger. People don't call me fat, but I'm not "Slim" either. I'm just sort of...bigger! haha. It's incredibly irritating. I'm tall(5'10"), so I'll always be bigger than the other girls and I don't want to be 120 pounds, but I'd like to feel better about my body image. I'll admit that I'm not the most confident in my own skin and there's times when I feel downright unattractive.

I've never been the size I want to be, so I'm not sure what my goal weight is. Right now I weigh 185, and people really don't guess that by looking at me. I have 150-160 in my head, but just let me know what you guys think! I don't want to set an unrealistic goal in my head. My problem areas are definitely my thighs, obliques, and my arms. That's what I took pictures of. I wear a size 10 in jeans right now, and I'd love to get into a 6. But once again, I've never been that size, so I'm not sure if I'd look emaciated as a size 6 or not! Do you guys think it'd be a good idea to buy a pair of jeans in the size I want to be as inspiration? I'm a VERY visual person.

Well, here are the pictures! You guys know more about weight loss than I do, so let me know how much you think I could lose. I want to look slim, but still have curves.

is my inspiration, as she is the same height as me but I think she looks great!

We need more info

How old are you?

Have you ever had any body composition numbers done ie. Body fat percentage by calipers etc.? The healthy BMI for fit athletic women 5'10" varies from 138-180lbs. If you have no muscle tone that healthy BMI would drop. Google BMI and dozens of sites will come up. Browse through them and pop back here.

You look ok in the pics. You need to add some back and front shots to really be able to tell. The one with tank top your arms don't even look fat.

I've used those handheld bodyfat machines that usually come up with a number within 4% of the actual number. And while I don't remember mine totally, I just remember it was QUITE high. I want to say 30%? I would like to say I have a lot of muscle, but I really don't. I'm not "Fit" and I don't play a sport or anything.

That's thing, I've always looked "fine". I've always been on the border of being too big, and I'm really sick of it! I'd really like to just feel better about myself and lose a bit. My highest was 195, so I've lost about 10 pounds, but it's taken quite a long time so I haven't really noticed too much of a difference myself.

:iagree:

What you are asking is a hard number for yourself to come up with let alone us.

Give yourself a minigoal. Say 170. Check yourself out. Post some pics. Then ask again. It will be much more credible than shooting for 140 lets say and find its way to thin for your frame.

Like the above poster said....I think you look great.

Good luck and keep us posted on the progress!

I think 150 to 160 is a good guess. The front shot of you looks pretty good already. Take it 10 pounds at a time or like someone already said, give yourself mini goals.

10lbs should probalby do the trick of you looking
at yourself and feeling great.
Your not a bigger person at all to be honest.
Your quit thin, by my opinion.
Good luck though (=

Thanks for your replies, guys. I honestly look better in these pictures than I do in person/pictures taken by other people. I saw some pictures of me last year at a party and I wanted to cry!

Thanks again.

I'm updating this with some pictures that other people have taken of me. I feel like I look completely revolting in them. The girl on the other end of me in these pictures is 5'9" and weighs 155, and she has a great figure! She's got my goal body, pretty much. I measured myself recently and i'm 5'11" now, so I think 160-165 is a reasonable goal.

Im with Derrick. I think you look pretty good now but think you would look incredible at around 150lbs. Good luck

I'm 5'10" and I didn't look nearly as good as you when I was 180, and I was in a 14 not a 10. It all depends on your body. But I also have a LOT of toning up to do from being a lot heavier in the past and I carry most of my weight in my hips too. I'd probably be a 10 at 165, and thats my goal, but I have no idea where I will end up at. Once you get into that healthy range, it just depends on your own body type.
I know what you mean about just being bigger than everyone lol. My legs go on for DAYS and most of my friends are little dwarves compared to me. I only know one girl who's taller than me, she's 6' and probably around 200lbs of volley-ball playing muscle, you'd never guess she weighs that much.

You look very beautiful, you don't look fat. You just don't look rail thin, but that's not very attractive anyway. If I were you I wouldn't lose more than 15-20 pounds. Even if you stay the way you are you still look good.

I'm almost 5'10 and I have the same issue of not being fat... but more chunky or a bit chubby. I agree with going down 10 pounds at a time and see how you feel each time. Also I'd work on getting toned. You're pretty, you shouldn't be ashamed of your body. But I do understand how you feel. It'll be hard to get out of that mindset even when you do lose the fat.
G'luck
