Help with routines

Hi im 21 weigh 17 half stone and im 6ft 3, i have been going to the gym for the past 2 months doing a full body weight training like 2 sets of 18 reps and there are about 8 different weight machines im using...dont know the name of them all. I do that for 45 mins then use the cross trainer for 15 mins.

I was going every day doing this but was then recommended to do it every other day and the days inbetween work on cardio.

I feel like i have lost weight as i can fit in my trouser s better and i have built a lot more muscle in my arms but im not losing and weight on the scales and this is what is getting to me.

does just working with weights change ur body shape but not body weight.

and i was thinking of going swimming everday as im desperate to look thinner and lose weight around my face.

i dont eat an obscene amount of food i have like ceral for breaky, then pasta and soup or sandwich for lunch.

dinner usualy some home cooking like chicken or pasta but i can be bad and have chips.

any help would be most grateful to get me on the right road.

Thanks

anyone please .....

if your overall goal fat loss you need to focus first off on your diet. This needs to be clean before you will see progress. Figure out what your daily calorie maintenence level is, and subtract about 500 from it. This is the amount of calories you want to take in in a day. Break it down into 5-6 small meals a day. This will help maintain a higher metabolic rate.

Focus on a ratio of macronutirients of something like 40%/30%/30% of protein/fat/carb. This isnt ideal for all people but its a good starting point. you may need to tweak the protein/carb intake. just play with it and closely monitor your progress.

As far as cardio, i suggest 5-7 days a week but make sure you mix it up. Dont do the same thing everyday. I suggest HIIT cardio be at least 3 of those days. if you are unfamiliar with what this is do a search on the forum. there are plenty of good explanations.

As far as a weight routine i would suggest a full body workout 3 days a week with at least 1 rest day in between each. Hope this helps.

swimming is a good source of cardio but like i said, mix it up. You can do HIIT while swimming. ive never personally done it, but HIIT is strongly suggested since it is an extremely effective fat burner
