Help with a workout.

I've been using a workout program since christmas which I got from different ideas people on the forum have had.Problem is I'm supposed to get the most progress at the beginning and so far I don't think any has happened.
I was wondering if someone could prescribe a workout for me. I have a barbell and a pine bench I can do bench presses on.
But I have a huge problem,I have a very fast metabolism which is great for keeping me skinny but I have real difficulty gaining any form of weight.I read on a site that I am an 'ectomorph' and the description summed me up pretty well in finding it hard to put on weight: muscle or otherwise.I looked at a few more sites and they did say a few things but to be honest they didn't make a lot of sense to me as I'm so new at this. WOuld someone be able to give me a rundown of what to do to gain muscle despite an active metabolism?
