Help can't workout.

I just had surgery last week on my stomach. I can’t workout for 6 weeks. What can I do to lose weight without working out? I know I’m suppose to eat less but I don’t think I eat a lot and if I don’t eat enough I get light headed and I start not to feel good. here is an example of what I eat.

Day 1:
7:30 am: fiber cereal with soy milk or egg whites, one slice of toast and grape jelly
10:00 am: activa yogurt vanilla and cereal with ¼ cup bear naked granola or banana and peanuts
12:00pm: Chicken and broccoli or turkey chili
3:00pm: apple with 1 ½ tablespoon almond butter or cottage cheese and almonds
6:00pm chicken and brown rice or turkey chili

I'm 5"3 and i weight 116lbs and i'm skinny fat. Any help would be great.

Thank you
Jen

If you just had surgery, I would think losing weight will be last on your list since your body will need the energy to heal. The best best is aim to maintain and eat healthy. Heal first.

What Jericho said. If you're "skinny fat" then losing more weight isn't going to help. Heal up and then start working out.

I will say, however, that it seems that for someone of your weight, you do eat quite a bit of carbs - if you want to at least control your weight while you're not able to exercise, I'd suggest registering for fitday.com or livestrong.com and starting to log your foods to see where your calories and nutrients are falling.

I'm thinking things like toast with jelly, granola, etc. are pretty high calorie/carb/sugar content and you might want to cut back on them while you're not able to move around much.

Thank you both,
I've been doing a lot of resting, but wasn't sure on how to not gain any weight while not being able to do anything. I will check both those web sites.
Thanks Again :)

Hi Kara
I have changed my diet a little. Can you tell me if this change will help me from gaining weight?

7:30am ½ cup egg whites with a little salt free ketchup and oatmeal with a half teaspoon natural peanut butter, cinnamon and stevia

10:00 am EAS Advant Edge Carb Control shake

12:00pm Turkey burger, some mustard, spinach and half a sweet potato

3:00pm 4 oz cottage cheese, coconut oil and 10 grapes or instead of grapes I will have a banana

6:00pm chicken with hot sauce or teriyaki sauce with steamed broccoli

Thanks
Jen

Jen .. I would suggest that you rgister for a free account on on or and starting to log your food. This will let you see how many calories you're eating and how your nutrition levels are breaking down. Once you know that, you'll be able to see more clearly where you can make adjustments, cut back, change your nutrition, etc.

It's better for you to be able to judge your own meals and see how what you eat affects you, than getting random people on the net to tell you what you should eat. The problem with me telling you yes or no to the above doesn't take into account anything about you ... it's just a meal plan w/out context.

You need to enter portion sizes and so forth and see if that plan works for you at your current weight, as well as meeting your nutritional needs.

if you're healing from surgery, I personally wouldn't recommend a weight loss regime. Your body is burning extra to HEAL itself. Feed it and heal up quicker.

What most people don't fully comprehend is that surgery is just a controlled grievous wound inflicted on the body in a manner which (usually) doesn't kill you. In the end, you've still have a giant hole torn into (insert body part here).
