Heather's Healthy Beginnings

Just a quick reminder to post your weight in the summer solstice challenge. If we all post - we might manage to have no-one eliminated.

Heather, I'm so impressed with how well you're doing in the middle of a stressful time like moving. Given that my reaction to stress is to start shoving handfuls of things into my face, I'm really in awe of your very sane and excellent daily values.

Sophie

You forgot to sign in this week for the challenge. Understandably with all the stuff you have going on!! You were not eliminated this week; so please update for this week when you get a chance! Thankyou!!

Hey all! Coming to you from the new apartment location! Just wanted to write a quick entry to say that the move went well and we're in the midst of unpacking and settling in now. My entire BODY is tired from all the physical labor I've been doing for the past two days. My eating has been horrific, however. Need to grocery shop today or tomorrow - at least unpack the food that we have so I can make something for dinner tonight. Today I'm gonna get my card made to get access to the shiny new gym!

Oh and my ticker moved 1.5lbs this week :sifone: YAY!

Great job on the ticker moving! You are so close to onederland!! I'm glad the move went well. How awesome that you have gym access. When I can afford an apartment... that is one thing I will be looking for!!!!!

Hi all!

The exercise and eating thing are still on my back burner, but slowly coming to the forefront again. Weighed myself today before my shower - thanks to TOM and horrific eating, I'm back at 202.5. Not stressed though. I'll get there. Gonna grocery shop tomorrow and get my gym access card tomorrow as well. I can't wait to try out the new gym!

Can't stick around, gotta do the VERY LAST of the unpacking but I can't wait to have some solid time to come check everyone else's journals. Take care! :waving:

We're COMPLETELY UNPACKED!!!!!! Oh dear lord it feels so good. Now we have a little under a week to just completely relax. I'm so excited. I'm determined to start back up with inputing my calories on sparkpeople today in anticipation for weigh-in tomorrow. I also get my gym card today so this afternoon I'm gonna make a stop in! We're gonna stop at a sporting goods store today as well and I think I might buy a swimsuit, goggles and earplugs to use the INDOOR POOL tomorrow morning! Wouldn't that be a kick!

Will update more this evening, but for now I gotta head out for an IKEA run. Love Ikea, it's so fun!

Indoor pool?!?!?!? I wish I had any pool! I have always been like a fish in water... I NEVER WANT TO GET OUT!

Wow--yay unpacking! That usually takes me months, if not, in some cases, years. *embarrassed* Anyway, huge congratulations!

Sophie

Well everyone, today was not quite a banner day but not terrible either. I'm over my calories by quite a bit, but I managed to get to the indoor pool and swam 24 laps (48 lengths). I was in a debate with the boytoy over what exactly a 'lap' is. I say that a lap is 2 lengths of the pool - over and back. he says that it's just one length. the reason we were wondering is because according to this whiteboard in the pool room, 106 laps is equal to one mile. I'm thinking it must mean 106 lengths of the pool because I find it hard to believe that swimming for half an hour would only lend itself to 1/4 of a mile. Then again I'm not the fastest swimmer in the world so who knows. Best thing about the whole ordeal is that the boy CAME WITH ME to go swimming! And we're thinking about making it a 2-3 times a week thing.

So ok, today's breakdown and then I'm gonna try to hit up some diaries before I call it a day. I'm annoyed because I'm up 2lbs for the weigh-in and I have been the same stupid weight for a MONTH now. But I'm determined. I feel really good about getting to the pool today. It was SO awesome swimming. I haven't swam laps in probably 10 years since I did years and years of swim lessons and eventual lifeguard training. Never turned into anything as I hated getting into a swimsuit as a teenager. So I swam 24 laps alternating between freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. I'd like to get to the point where I can swim the whole time freestyle as I think that's the most taxing on your endurance. I do have to say though I was able to swim for a lot longer than the boytoy which surprised me a lot just because he's been an athlete literally all of his life. I guess the gym thing for the past 2 months has actually paid off!!

Anyway, breakdown for today:

Calories: 2109
Carbs: 222
Fat: 73
Protein: 80
Sodium: 3968

Oh lord not good. But that's OK. We'll get there again.

I love swimming. I'm jealous just reading this post!! I love the feeling of being in water. (pool water...I'm not a swimming in the ocean type of person).

Have a great day today!

Omigosh.

Ok today was horrific food wise, I'm sure. However, I am too tired to care or log my calories. We spent over 6 hours today cleaning the old apartment. The stupid thing is SPOTLESS. Swear to god it's cleaner than when we moved in. But my stomach isn't very happy right now (got diagnosed with IBS - irritable bowel syndrome - by my dr recently and it definitely makes sense) and I'm exhausted from just a day's worth of work. Also went for a 1/2 hour walk with the boytoy tonight after dinner which was really good. It was spurred on at his request as well, which I was impressed with!

So I'll write down what I had to eat because I have to start making myself accountable again. If I'm not tracking it in sparkpeople, I have to be writing it down.

Breakfast: marble bagel with cream cheese, skim milk and half cup of coffee with coffee mate and splenda

Lunch: three pieces (ugh) pizza with mushrooms and olives

Dinner: one serving tater tots, hamburger made with 90% lean meat and feta mixed in on 1/2 bun, lite Caesar salad.

Ok so maybe it's not completely awful, but those three pieces of pizza were god awful. I should NOT have eaten that many. But I feel better that I got the hard work in cleaning (literally was breaking a sweat for 70% of the time) and that we went for the walk. The boy is actually getting to be semi-serious about his health. I'm impressed! Tomorrow morning we have a date with the pool again which is exciting. Can't wait! As long as I'm keeping active, I have time to get back on track with eating. Gotta buckle down - it's the last 5 weeks of summer solstice challenge!!

Ok I'm zonked. Time to veg on the couch for a while. :p

Sounds like you had quite a busy day! I hope you get plenty of rest tonight, and then take advantage of that gym tomorrow!

Brandy - Thanks dear! Always appreciate the support! And I definitely hit up the pool again today.

So today has been awesome so far. Slept in until 9 and got to the pool by 10 or 10:30. Did another solid 48 lengths of the pool. I'm thinking maybe I'll increase by another 6 just to get to a full 1/2 mile. We'll see what happens. Food thus far has been good. Avoided the bagels this morning because I've been definitely getting back into my carbaholic routines. Had 2 eggs instead with a piece of whole wheat toast, skim milk and some coffee. That was basically brunch so I'm thinking that I'll have some fruit and yogurt this afternoon or something smallish so I'm still hungry for dinner. We're having a mini date night tonight - gonna hopefully go see Ironman and have dinner somewhere in Manayunk. I'm excited to explore our new neighborhood! It feels nice to be back in kindof a suburban setting. We're literally probably a mile or two from the city limits, and you can definitely tell. It's just not so congested, and that's such a nice feeling.

OH and some fun news - my handsome sexy boytoy has signed up on the forum!!!! His name is "RugbyDan" so if you see him around be sure to be extra nice to him. :) I think he was a little bit hesitant to join, but as soon as I assured him that yes there are men who come on this site, he was a little more accepting. :)

how awesome that you got in those laps and have been careful of your food. You are definitely going to see a loss this week! And how cool that your boytoy signed up!

Brandy thanks so much for the encouragement! Although I doubt I'm going to see any results this week, scale says I gained a pound this morning. I'm not surprised at that, however, because last night was such an INSANE BINGE that I can't believe it!!!

I've allowed myself to get back into the habit of eating huge meals three times a day and thus when I tried to get back into the frequent small meals yesterday, by dinner time I was starving. Dinner wasn't too terrible except we went to the Manayunk Brewery and of course had beer which added the cals. But still everything was reasonably manageable until I hit the movie theater afterward and caved to my favorite theater snack - Pretzel bites. I ate a whole frigging tray of the damn things. My calorie total literally is over 3300 for the day. ARRRRGH!

Trying to keep a level head about it all, but I'm just irritated with myself. This didn't have to happen. PLUS, Dan the whole night was being very conscious of what he ate and everything like that and it's not even like I have peer pressure to blame!!!

Ugh. Only thing to do is just work on making today better. I already started off with a bagel which doesn't thrill me, but I'm determined to make up for it. This afternoon I think we're headed to the pool again which will be good. At least I'm still exercising.
