Hi All,

I'll try and keep this short; I am 25 and I was born prematurely and suffered brain damage which caused various disabilities. The disabilities have affected my ability to walk, run, hold and lift things and my muscle tone etc. Although I can run and lift weights just not to the to the same degree that a normal 25 year old male could. I have also had Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis for 4 years which have compounded the problem.

I lost the ability walk for several months, I can walk now but exercise is pretty much out of the window. I have put on weight because I stopped eating and eventually ended up eating a load of rubbish and can't exercise. I have lost weight before successfully with the "Slim Fast" diet. I don't want to do that again though and would like your advice. I am really looking for advice on my diet.

I have a lot of will power and have already started eating healthily but as I do not burn off many calories via exercise or just general movement I feel I need some help to get the calories under control. Thank you so much for you time and advice it is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Mischa

Hi, Mischa:

Can you handle walking gently in a swimming pool? I too am in the same predicament, but we have very different disorders. One thing good about water is that it provides some resistance so you are really getting more exercise than you would think. It does not burn as many calories, but it helps keep you in some kind of motion. Let me know and of course, ask your doctor if you can handle hydrotherapy.

Second the hydrotherapy! I know some people who've had a lot of success with this. Good luck! Keep it up!
